Greed

In Newark, New Jersey we travel back and forth between past and present while exploring the troughs of Rae and Bilal, addicts who spend their days scouring for their next high. The couple watches as their friends are brutally murdered. Even still, they conspire to carryout a major heist in search of finance for their habits. Funny what we're willing to gamble on love, isn't it?

After doing five years, Desiree "Rae-Rae" Johnson is free. She's looking to re-establish herself in society. Regrettably, there is no one that she can turn to, so she heads back to her hood, the one place that haunts her sleep. Lost in love, Rae is fighting to maintain her sobriety and her sanity. She moves in with her girl, Bev, an alcoholic. Although she's grateful, she knows that this can't be a permanent fixture.

Ishmael "Ish" Jenkins is one of the most respected, well connected hustler's of his era. Ish has managed to keep his cash flowing without doing any major time. Right now Ish is somewhere between being happy and satisfied. That is until his cash is starting to be counted by others. Ish is involved in an off and on relationship with Zola, a rumored sack chaser. He has genuine feelings for her, but she keeps him so heated.

Fall through `In My Hood'. You're bound to trip over drugs, money, influence, sex, drama, love, recovery, gossip, treachery, secrets and politics. `In My Hood', is as vital to book fiends as crack to crack fiends. Melodrama Publishing appears to be at the pinnacle of their game. Endy is a dynamic new voice in the literary game and I can't wait to read more about her hood.

Great book. First time reading anything by this author and now I am getting excited because I am ready to read part 2 soon as I am done with my review.

Desiree was a woman that had it all she then fell in love with Bilal who then had her hooked on drugs bad. Her and Bilal ended up in some crazy mess that got them both locked up. Desiree gets out and want to start things over and on a clean plate. Bilal ends up somewhat killing himself but, Desiree dont believe that.

Ishmael is a known drug dealer with a cheating girl name Zola. Ishmael has a crazy pass with his mom beeing a hoe and his dad being a pimp but, Ishmael mange to stick to the drug business with help from Leroy a man that his dad knowns but, Leroy wants Ishmael to give up some percent of his drug business to the city mainly the greedy govement in order to buy his way to keep them out of his business but, Ishmael don't see it that way.

Zola on the other hand is working to steel from Ishmael and set up Ishmael side man Derrick by using Nettie Zola friend to get her hands on Derrick.

Ishmael and Desiree starts off slowly getting to know each other and ends up going with each other. Ishmael couldn't remember where he knew Desiree from until she told a story about her pass that brought back memories to his pass.

At the end so much stuff blows up.

Everyday Life

Desiree (RAE-RAE) is such a survivor. Her life story is like most of ours. She had a good job and then hit rock bottom hard. Loving her man and remaining loyal to him sums up who Desiree is, until one day her life is turned completely around because of the greed that's inside of her. Well, it landed her and her man in jail doing hard time. Desiree learned a valuable lesson the hard way. Now out of jail, she has decided to live her life for the better, but with only $96.00 and no where else to go, she winds up in her old neighbor. Will Desiree be able to live her life differently now or will the streets swallow her???

In My Hood is excellent and a very quick read. You will be on the edge of your seat!!! Such a cliff hanger, I have NEVER read a book with so many cliff hangers before!!

I had to laugh at this book Miss Endy put out, this is a second book I picked up by her and needless to say I liked the very first material I read by her better.. Some authors try to hard I think, for me this book was too over the top with so many twist and turns in the end and middle chapters, I know a fiction is supposed to be just that, fictitious.. But what I look for in books I read are things close to reality, something that will deter my mind away from the fact of it being fiction. this book did no such thing, so for that it only get 2 stars from me..not to mention I have "In My Hood 2" in my possession but I have no interest in reading it.

This was better than I had expected- I hadn't read anything by this author yet but found this at the store th eother day and picked it up. It was actually very good, fast-paced the whole time with some definite twists that I didn't see coming. The only complaint I have is that the ending had a few too many twists. It all happened so fast in the end and I think to incorporate all she did the book should have been longer or she should have saved some. Then again, what do I know? LOL It was great and I look forward to reading the sequel!

I thought that I read this book, but come to find out I didn't... I ordered it from the library. I started it on 4-27-11 and finished today(4-28-11) This was an "OK" book. I really didn't like the ending of the book. I hope part 2 picks up where 1 left off...
