Louise Cusack lives in Australia, in a tiny fishing village on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. She's a long-time vegetarian and caffeine addict with an obsession finding the tiniest shred of romance in any story and wallowing in it.
Her novels are about curious women who get themselves into unlikely situations - whether that's an everyday woman from our world falling through a portal into a sepia kingdom, an amorous mermaid who gets herself stranded on dry land, or more recently, a perfectly ordinary house-sitter who finds herself husband sitting instead! You'll have to read her recent release 'Husband Sit' to find out why...
Louise doesn't care what genre she writes in so long as the characters are endearingly real, the heroes are scorching hot and the sex is good!
Cute idea, but very rushed. I felt like there were chapters missing. The voodoo stuff--while not something I particularly liked, should have been explained more, and there definitely should have been more scenes with interaction between the MC' s. I even felt like the job issues the hero was having should have been described. Basically, I just wanted more.
Natasha Barri is already in residence when Julian Wilde arrives on the island to finish his PhD at his friend's isolated island. Julian thinks of Tasha as a Goddess and she finds him an irritating Geek. The old saying that opposites attract is true in The Goddess & the Geek. The Voodoo aspect, the independence of Tasha and Julian's need to have her find him attractive is all somehow interesting and a bit fun too.
I honestly wanted to enjoy this book. I read the synopsis and thought to myself "Well shoot, this one sounds like it could be a good one." So of course, with high hopes, I pick it up and proceed to read. Unfortunately what started off as an interesting premise and promising plot just did not click with me. I found a lack of connection not only between the characters, but between the characters and the reader.
I found not a shred of anything that made me connect with the characters. At first it was too much like the chool nerd doing the head cheerleader's homework in hopes she'd notice he's alive. As a matter of fact the similarities were uncanny. Julian spends the entie time they are on the island catering to Tasha's very need. He cooks for her and cleans up after her to the exclusion of everything else. Including the project he originally came to the quiet island to work on. She in turn is a slob who only places demands on him about what she wants him to cook and when and doesn't even help do dishes. If anything, she only insults him and continuosly makes nasty comments to him. I just found no redeeming qualities in their character. Nerd or not, he just reminded me of an overly eager to please puppy panting and begging for the tiniest scrap of attention. She just reminded me of that popular girl in school who knew she was attractive and took it as her due that alal the boy swould do whatever she wanted them to if she so much as deigned to look in their direction and said a few words.
WIth likeable characters, this may have been a passible story, but I'm sorry. the characters only annoyed me and the fact that I could feel no emotional connection with either one only made things worse.
GODDESS & THE GEEK by author Louise Cusack is a Flirt Press release for September 2012. It is part of a Hapless Heroes series.

But she excpected to be alone as she has not lived with another human since the last five years. Could Julian and Natasha co exist peacefully in the same house?
Living together, Julian feels attracted to Natasha but does she reciprocate? Julian tries a bit of online voodoo. Would Julian's voodoo work?
GODDESS & THE GEEK is fresh and fun. It is filled with amusing dialogue and witty comebacks. Author Louise Cusack has brought a refreshing story filled with hilarious and unusual characters.
This was the perfect combination of fun and sexy. The story tells of how the a hot babe and a geek find one another and ultimately love.
But with the added touch of some online voodoo this made for a really interesting read. Imagine the two main characters not only being trapped together but one trying to "find the other " and the other one trying to no kill him ! Now that is the perfect setting for a awesome read !
The book had memorable characters, vividly delicious and funky scenes, and just enough craziness to keep me highly entertained.
The author delivers the kind of scenes you would expect from a feel good comedy on screen, but with so much more of a punch it will leave you wanting more.
I particularly love how she brings her characters (who believe me are not the kind of people you would expect falling for each other in real life) together. It is one of those " Really them a couple ?"
Her writing is fun, fresh and has a added twist around every corner I mean page that is sure to entertain every kind of reader !
"Goddess And The Geek" by Louise Cusack is part of the 'hapless heroes' series, and my first read from this author, but it will not be my last. Julian Wilde is a computer genius, and a cute one at that. He meets Natasha Barri on an island that he retreated to in order to finish his PHD work. The story becomes this sexy, fun, mess that turns into much more.
A novella in Louise Cusack's Hapless Heroes series. Louise really pushes the envelope where romance writing is concerned. With each book, I'm dying to see what innovation she's going to try this time.
A bespectacled academic and a long limbed island goddess are about the last pair you'd expect to get it together, right? But Louise makes it happen and oh, so credibly. Natasha is an island amazon, who lives in the tropics and farms oysters. A hardened heart would make her unsusceptible to the most enticing alpha male. So how will the decidedly un-alpha Julian win her heart? And more interestingly, what will he do with it when he wins it? This is the question that will have the reader skimming the pages.
Enjoyable dialogue and characters make it great reading entertainment. Recommended by me too!
