Memoir of a Scottish soldier who was part of the British military and took part in putting down the Sepoy Mutiny in British India, the result of this failed uprising being direct rule of the British Crown over India. Interesting memoir, shows how the British Empire put down a rebellion in a major colony and tightened the grip to prevent it from ever happening again.

How did the British deal with their version of 911. The parallels are there for those willing to search. Excellent adventure story along with the history lesson.
Lesson one is that you don't want to be opposite a Scottish Regiment advancing with fixed bayonets.
