This is the remarkable true story of a travesty of justice and the mother who refused to let it stand. John Purvis, a 42-year-old mental patient who lived with his mother, was coerced into confessing to the rape and murder of a young Ft. Lauderdale woman--a crime he did not commit. Then he was condemned, convicted, locked up and forgotten. Original.
I'm reading through the books on my shelves and deciding what to keep and what to pass on. I am not normally a reader of True Crime, but I met the author of this one at my local public library when the book came out (1996) and bought a copy.
When I rate books I compare them to other books of their kind, not to all books. The only other True Crime I've read that I can remember are Helter Skelter and In Cold Blood, and this book is obviously not in their league. But it is competently written and seems well researched. I think lovers of True Crime would like it well enough.
