SHOCK WAVE

It's as legal to buy as bath salts, but Ivory Wave isn't for human consumption. So when a rash of deaths spreads across the Midwest, Mack Bolan has to find out who's making the lethal concoctionwho's killing American teensand shut them down permanently. But he quickly discovers that it's a powerful crime family behind the narcotic, and the mob considers it a legitimate source of income. Taking the deadly drug supply off the market will be no easy task.

With the White House telling him to back off and Stony Man Farm's hands tied, the Executioner has only one way into the organizationput himself directly in the cross fire of the two hot-blooded Mafia brothers battling for control of the family business.

Sometimes the only way to beat them isto join the war.

He published more than 125 books in his long career, and his books have been published in more than 25 foreign languages with close to two hundred million copies in print throughout the world.

After producing a number of science-fiction and mystery novels, Don launched in 1969 the phenomenal Mack Bolan: The Executioner, which quickly emerged as the original, definitive Action/Adventure series. "Although The Executioner Series is far and away my most significant contribution to world literature, I still do not perceive myself as 'belonging' to any particular literary niche. I am simply a storyteller, an entertainer who hopes to enthrall with visions of the reader's own incipient greatness."

Ivory wave is a legal drug that has become popular with teenagers across America. However, someone is adding a little something special to the most recent batches, causing deaths by heart attack and by suicide. The executioner is called in by a friend who’s daughter killed herself by slitting her own throat after taking ivory wave. He vows to figure out what is going on and who is behind the rash of deaths.

This book had a lot going for it, as far as I was concerned. I've enjoyed the author's previous contributions to the series, and this is my favorite kind of Mack Bolan mission --the personal ones. No saving the world from some terrorist plot this time around --at least, not on a grand scale. Just trying to avenge the death of a friend's daughter and keep other teenagers from suffering the same fate. I wish there were more Executioner stories written this way.

In all fairness, take my rating with a grain of salt. I have a feeling that, had I been able to read this book in my usual two or shree days, rather than taking a month and a half due to life's little curve-balls, I might have given the book a higher rating. I skewed its ability to build momentum, and in a genre like action-adventure, momentum can be critical. I do heartily recommend this book.
