Samuele Adelmo’s job is to do whatever mafia kingpin Gino Sarvilli pays him to do. No questions asked, no emotional involvement. It’s just a job.
When he meets Lola Pennington, a sweet and beautiful woman who always sees the glass as half full, he starts to care about how his chosen career affects other people.
Problem is, when you’re paid by the mob, there’s no retirement plan.
The hero, Samuele, claims he’s not a good person, but he is kind to animals and protective of his woman without being controlling. He may be a hitman, but he is absolutely antihero material. And Lola recognizes that. Smart woman. I enjoyed this prequel. My only complaint is that it is set in 1989 and he talks about taking an Uber.

Paid by the Mob is the first book in the Detroit Mafia Romance series. This is an opposites attract romance about Lola Pennington and Samuele "Sam" Adelmo. She is sweet, sunshiny, and upbeat. He is dark, grumpy, and a bad man. But when they meet it is fireworks and sizzle. This is an entertaining story that is a nice read with a fast pace.
Short, but a good start with the characters. Not enough plot for me to give it higher but morally grey mmc who cuddles a puppy, falls first, falls harder and gives good touch her and die vibes!
Short & sweet, kinda wanted more. I was also hoping, that being from the Detroit metro area, the author would have made more references about the city itself.
2.75⭐️ This 76 page book was short but sweet. Lola meets Samuele. A spicy part in there of course. Samuele is perfect for Lola. I received this book from a stuff your kindle event.
This is a captivating read for fans of romance and mafia-themed stories who enjoy complex characters, moral dilemmas, and the thrill of a hero's journey from a life of crime to redemption.
