With her recording career on the slide, Deanna Hart heads home to Cleveland to search for new inspiration. What she finds is a man who has never stopped thinking about her. Eric Bell is now the principal at their former school, and he's never been shy about trying to get her attention. Down-to-earth and downright sexy, Eric is about to open Deanna up to new possibilities.
But just as soon as they find each other, a crushing Hart family secret could end Deanna's dream of starting over. Will she be able to capture the kind of love she has never believed in, the kind that lasts forever?
It was okay. Deanna made some really stupid choices: loving the wrong guys; not having her abusive boyfriend arrested; and meeting a psychotic stranger alone without telling her family where she was going! So I spent the entire book shaking my head at how Deanna just didn't use her brain at all.
After reading the first two books in this trilogy, I couldn't wait to read the final book to see how all the drama would unfold. The love story between Eric and Deanna was sweet. He loved her a long time ago and wanted her to return the feelings. Deanna was going through things in her life and couldn't fully trust herself to love Eric. The mystery surrounding their mother is finally revealed and you are in for quite the shocker. Awesome series Kayla Perrin.
I enjoyed this story of friends to lovers. The tension is great, the side characters have depth, and the story is a fun engaging read.
Given my note below about the book this book was paired with, I had a deep appreciation for the way this book discussed consent. The heroine has mixed emotions about moving from friends to lovers, and the hero doesn't push her in any way that made me as a reader uncomfortable. Consent is always discussed. At one point, the heroine is upset and angry kisses the hero. He tells her to wait until she's calm, even though he could easily have taken advantage. Thank you, Kayla for that scene. Eric is a true hero for waiting until Deanna is properly ready to say yes.
Note: I bought this book in a Harlequin Sexy duo, and DNF'd the other book it was paired with (different author) because of a non-con scene. When the heroine says no, and the 'hero' continues on because she's apparently enjoying it, it's rape, and I don't want that in my books.
The Harts In Love series culminates with Deanna's story. Even though the Hart sisters have returned home for the funeral of the aunt that raised them, they each also needed a break from the stresses they are going through. Callie is recuperating from a car accident that resulted from her being run off the road (Always In My Heart). Natalie has left her star basketball player husband who cheated on her (Surrender My Heart). Deanna has made some bad choices in men that have negatively affected her music career and she needs the time to regroup. She agrees to speak to her nephew's class about her music and finds that the principal is her old friend Eric, the brother of the ex-boyfriend that started the years long feud between she and her sister Natalie.
This is a good twist on the "can friends become lovers" tale as Eric makes it known that, all those times he comforted her while she cried about his brother, he longed to make her his own. Also, since this is the last book in the series, we finally get to find out the circumstances behind the sisters coming to live with their aunt and what happened to their mother after she abandoned them.
Wow the grandfather was a murderer!? Didn't expect that. But i cant believe she accepted an open container from anybody that's just plain dump. Just cause the man claims to be your granddad don't mean JACK. He could've been lying just to get close to her just because she famous or in her case because she witnessed the murder. I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5 because her trust issues just got on my nerves. Yeah i know they were abandoned by their mother but they had an aunt and an uncle who raised them as their own cut the bull. You gonna live a good man who you know is a good man in the shower because your ex-producer verbally abused you. Well guess what you shouldn't have answered the phone that was dumb. If he can hit you with his hands, he damn sure can beat you down with words when you wont do what he says dummy.

3.5 Stars Enjoyed it. The book had a nice flow to it and kept me interested from the first page to the last. Deanna and Eric had really good chemistry, and they love story was very believable. It was nice to see the chapter finally close on the Hart sisters mystery of their mother. Although part of that story was a bit out of left field, it was nice to see the sisters final get answers to their questions.
Only finished this book because I felt like I had to. It was something akin to closure with this series. So glad there were only 3 sisters. Amazingly, all 3 sisters took their abandonment issues out on everyone except the person who abandoned them, their mother. Every decent man who came into the sisters lives they ran from or tried to run off because mom left them. These women are just confusing to me. Glad I am through reading this book.
This last book in the Hart sister's saga was a very beautiful and well written book. it not only show how the sister's discovered secrets that was kept twenty four years later, but each found true love that will last forever with their Mr. rights. and founding their long lost mother was a beautiful touch to a wonderful storyline from Mrs. Kayla Perrin. this book is a must have and read!
Great end to a series. Deanna meets back up with an old friend Eric and sparks start to fly. Will Deanna let past issues affect her growing feelings or will love prevail.
I loved the whole series. I only wished there were more to continue on. Like maybe a book for the new musician playing at Michael Jones's restaurant or one of Nigel's co-workers falling for Miriam.
I really enjoyed this series and I thought I had read the last book in the series but I must have missed it. I enjoyed seeing how the story came together.
