Enhanced with more than two hundred photographs and illustrations, this updated gardening handbook explains the fundamentals of container gardening, describing suitable plants and suggesting ways of displaying them as furnishings for house and garden. Original. 20,000 first printing.
This compact, useful guide to container gardening is a resource I plan to keep around on my shelf because I do quite a bit of container gardening. While I mostly focus on vegetables or edible plants and this book largely focuses on decorative, flowering plants I still was able to get a lot of good, general information (as well as a short chapter specific to vegetables in containers). This is especially good because I'm still fairly new at this hobby, and I think perhaps a more experienced green thumb might want more specifics when it comes to temperatures, amounts of water, etc. I also am not so much interested in the aesthetic aspect of my plants, which was a large focus of this book. That being said, it was very informative and I am looking forward to more of the Sunset books, one of which specifically focuses on my region.
