Nearly four decades and 300,000 volumes after being told that her first book of poetry wouldn't sell, Carol Lynn Pearson's poetry has been internationally acclaimed and is going strong. More importantly, her poems have carved themselves in to the hearts of her loyal following, giving smiles, tears and inspiration. Beginnings & Beyond offers Carol Lynn's most popular poems to still another generation to enjoy and treasure.
I enjoyed this book of poetry more than I expected. A couple of chapter sections felt irrelevant to my personal life, but that's how poetry goes, right? It's more for the author than anyone else. However, the poems that felt like they were specifically for me went straight to my heart. And, at the end, I felt that I understood Carol Lynn Pearson a little more, as herself. I'd like to read "No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons Around Our Gay Loved Ones" and "The Ghost of Eternal Polygamy: Haunting the Hearts and Heaven of Mormon Women and Men" in the future.
