This book occasionally suggested a Georgette Heyer Regency romance, but lacked the depth, authenticity and brilliance that is found in her books. So, a clean, fun story, but at the same time not particularly brilliant.
A fun read complete with an irresponsible young man, a runaway young girl, a shadowy figure, lost love, and pompous cits. My only complaint would be the slightly too fast conclusion. There was a fair amount of humor and I smiled often. This is a Recency romance I could let my Granddaughter read. I am grateful for the lack of sexual content.
