Boon Dockers is the tale of an epic road trip two adventurous young Aussies embark upon through the 'real' America, one Walmart at a time. Discovering and perfecting the art of 'boon docking' in their mobile home, a 1983 Dodge camper van affectionately known as Rammy, these travellers find out what makes America tick and bump in to characters you won't even find on reality TV.
Entertaining travelogue of an Australian couple who purchase a 1980s Dodge camper van and travel across Canada and the United States. Like many independent ebooks, this one has a few issues with grammar and editing. It is interesting to learn Ardun's perspective of the American culture. He has a website where he has posted photos of additional travels, though this has not been updated recently. I would be curious to know what he is doing with his life right now.
The first half of this book had me laughing my head off. The second half had me wondering what happened to the beauty of the first half. The editing slacked off and the writing felt rushed. The first half of this book really carries the second. You find yourself finishing in spite of its flaws. Even though I only gave it three stars, I would recommend this book.
I could hardly put it down, traveling with Ardun & Jen was a fun adventure. I wish there could have been more details of their drive across the U.S. Their reactions were so interesting. I'm a 64 year old American who wants to travel but can't, so I enjoyed reading the impressions of these two young wonderful people. I'm hoping they have other escapades to share.
good easy read, could use a bit more color and substance. Ardun and Jen seemed to grow over the course of their journey, but I would have liked to have heard more about their trip.
