The basic plot is that nearly all the animals - fish, mammals, insects, etc - wage war on humans on the same date. While the plot was entertaining in a mindless way, I got tired of the repeated mention of Asperger's which didn't contribute to the story. I started to wonder if the author just liked typing it or something. Also, a large portion of the book dealt with the character's histories and why they all happened to come together at the same place on a particular day. Again, that didn't contribute enough to dedicate so much of the book to it. Finally and perhaps the thing that bothers me the most, Nutrias have black tails, not pink like mentioned twice in the story! A small detail but if you're going to point it out twice, get it right!(Yes I know I obsess about small, strange issues)

This book...is really crazy. It's like Animal Farm meets Stephen King.

It's Thanksgiving Day. People are congregating to a restaurant called Clarksdale, located on a small island between Mississippi and Louisiana. You have a plethora of people from different backgrounds, all deciding to eat here, for many different reasons. Suddenly, people notice birds hitting the windows, slamming their bodies to break the glass. Also, giant clouds of wasps and mosquitoes are descending upon people leaving the island. Colonies of fire ants are marching towards men arguing outside and attack viciously. The four vehicles leaving never make it past the bridge.

Panic ensues are people slowly realize all animals, including insects and marine life, are attacking the human race. Fighting them to the death. What starts out at maybe 100 people enjoying their Thanksgiving meal, turns into 16 scared people fighting to stay alive against ravage attacks.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the WHOLE time. I really didn't know what was going to happen next. Seeing animals you never thought of as harmless becoming weapons of death and destruction.

If you like gore, and thrill novels, this is for you. This is NOT for the lighthearted reader in any way. I quite enjoyed it as an animal horror novel. Nick Steckel did an amazing job with the specifics and details that made this book a unique and heart racing find.

Well played, cat.lol

This wasn't a bad book. The premise was interesting, though there were holes in the set-up.

Let's put it this way:

I don't regret reading it.

Basically, animals all over finally get fed up with the humans' shit, and start a world-wide genocide. There is no species exempt, and few individual exceptions. Animals are there to fuck shit up. lol

A group of people get trapped in a restaurant when it all begins to go down, and this book basically chronicles their fight to escape the building and find safe haven.

How does that work out for the group? Weellll....

This book is interesting...it's a kind of Stephen King/Dean Koontz-ish plot, but also reminded me of a book called 'Animal Kingdom' by Iain Rob Wright...but Animal Kingdom was much better!
