Kay Lee Arthur was an American Christian author, Bible teacher, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Renowned for her accessible and inductive approach to Bible study, she helped millions engage deeply with Scripture. Arthur began her ministry informally, teaching teenagers in her living room alongside her second husband, Jack Arthur. Their work soon grew into a global outreach, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the name Precept Ministries International. She hosted the daily Bible teaching program Precepts for Life and became a respected voice in evangelical circles. Arthur authored numerous books and was a four-time winner of the ECPA Christian Book Award for titles such as A Marriage Without Regrets and The New Inductive Study Bible. Her ministry was rooted in a personal reawakening to faith in the early 1960s, following a divorce and a return to religious life. She and Jack also served briefly as missionaries in Mexico before founding their ministry. Arthur remained active in public faith-based initiatives into her later years and was known for her firm stances on social issues. She passed away on 2025 leaving behind a lasting legacy in Christian education and publishing.
As a survey study of Acts, this was very well done to meet its goal. The cross-referencing and cultural/historical context were great and I'm left wanting to study Acts in more depth!
Another wonderful in-depth Bible study by Kay Arthur with helpful maps and timelines. Since I'm used to the inductive method, several of the daily assignments seemed too easy and I sometimes doubled up on them. The book can be adapted to any level.
I adore the Inductive series by Kay Arthur. These studies are perfect for beginners and also work well for more seasoned Bible readers. These studies rad you to get answers straight from the Bible without all the fluff and ideas you find in some studies.
This was a great introductory inductive Bible Study guide for the book of Acts. There was just enough guiding (i.e. pay attention to the reference to xyz in this passage, questions to think about, cross-references to explore, historical maps and information, etc). I really appreciate this type of study where the Word is the actual teacher.
What is the Holy Spirit? What does the Holy Spirit do? This inductive study into the book of Acts puts the Holy Spirit front and center through the acts of the apostles, most notably Paul.
I love the inductive series by Kay Arthur. This is my third study. These books discipline you to not just read scripture, but to understand it for yourself. The book is filled with guidance, not commentary. You read scripture and then look for what God is saying to you, not what a preacher says he is saying.
We used this book as a guide for a Sunday School class series, and the class really loved it. And all we really did was read the book in class and then discuss the 5 W's and H. The discussions were vibrant and instructive. Whether you read this particular study or one of the others in this inductive series, I highly recommend them.
