Authors: Cheyenne McCray & Annie Windsor

Wow, this was fabulous! The writing is highly entertaining ;-):

""What the hell?" This time Hannah clenched the waistband of his leather pants as tightly as she could, afraid she was going to tumble to the ground -- which was growing ... farther and farther away ...

"Shhhh," the man was saying in a strangely calming tone. "You're all right now, mi alma."

"Bullshit." Hannah gripped his pants tighter as she peeked over the side and watched the dark desert speeding by. "I just witnessed a sacrifice, got held hostage in a hotel by hideous creatures, ... and now I've been kidnapped by a flying man in leather."

... she remembered hitting her head when she tumbled down the temple steps. Somewhere along the way she'd lost one of her sandals. Certainly nothing like Cinderella." (pg 44)

"Zin is a 500 year old Aztec warrior turned vampire. He's a leather-clad, motorcycle- riding bad boy with a passion for guitar playing.

Hannah Cordova is a singer, whose life has been splashed across the tabloids by a man she trusted. Taking a break from touring in Cabo San Lucas, she meets Zin, and stumbles into a centuries-old conflict between the vampire covens and an evil ancient power."

Everything I've read recently by Cheyenne McCray has been so awesome, she's now on my "Hot List" of authors.

Annie Windsor is a new-to-me author. An excerpt in the back of Vampire Dreams for Arda: The Sailmaster's Woman, has me very excited to get my hands on this book!

I wanted to like this so much. I picked it up at a used bookstore because 500 year old Aztec vampire seduces pop singer sounds like the kind of over the top kitsch-fest I live for, especially with this cover. I freaking love this book cover. Unfortunately, the storyline was all-over the place, and the settings and character histories -- aka the things that compelled me to pick up the book in the first place -- were underutilized. The sex scenes were pretty hot in the first half of the book, but they soon got repetitive. It looks like I'll have to keep looking for the Mexican pop-star/Aztec vampire muscle hunk romance novel of my dreams.

Vampire Dreams wasn't bad, but it could have been better. I wished the authors placed a little more emphasis on the lore of the Aztec powers that some of the characters had. There was never an explanation as to how they had the powers or why. Some things seemed a bit rushed too. I liked the H/h for the most part and the supporting characters were interesting.
