The author has definite ideas about who was and was not a good actor/actress. I wondered how some of the stars chosen to be highlighted were selected from the hundreds of people who have been seen on the silver screen (Sylvester Stallone and Keanu Reeves, for example).

Some of the categories the author used: screen goddesses, romantic heroes, sensitive anti-heroes, comedy stars, glamour queens, the good joes, the heavies, villains and downright cads, the queens of melodrama, the great musical stars, the new women, post-feminist heroines, the streetwise stars, the tough guys, the comedy actors, British stars, French stars, Italian stars.
