I've read some of Chelsea's novel length work and this story surprised me; it's almost like it's written by a different author entirely. It's also good, and scary, so it does its job as horror. The voice is also great, and consistent. It has a Shadow Over Innsmouth vibe that I respond to positively.
The things that drag it down:: once you see the monster, it's hard to keep it as scary as before. There are some word confusions and things like people's names aren't always consistent. (is it Katya or Katy?) I found the action scenes to be just a little bit clunky.
I did love the ending, though. All in all a worthy purchase.
