Olivia Black fell in love with romance novels years ago and read everything from alternative to ménage, and everything in between. Thousands of books later, Olivia is still an avid reader on the lookout for a good book.
Olivia started writing ménage romance with Siren Publishing under the name Alicia White, then later decided to branch out and with the support of the publisher, started writing ManLove under Olivia Black. Silver Bullet was the first ManLove series and Olivia is looking forward to many others in the future.

Very typical shifter/mate story set in New Orleans where the world knows of all different paranormals and they live together. This series is centered around a shifter bar called the Silver Bullet. Very short so there is really not a lot of time to add depth to the characters or storyline, but enjoyable if you are not looking for a lot.
The sex feels like going through the motions – more porn choreography than emotion or sensation. Characters and plot remain rudimentary and simplistic as well. However, for a quick read (very quick read) in the usual genre and setting it’s inoffensive.
The writing feels awkward. Most especially the overuse of “the man” to the point where I become confused as to which man it references.
Completely insta-love that we apparently have to take for granted. That and sex.
Meh. Maybe the series will improve somewhat down the line.

The Alpha’s Mate by author Olivia Black starts of the Silver Bullet series. I have mixed feelings about this book. Gideon is alpha of his pack and owner of a BDSM club called Silver Bullet. He is a nice guy, not overly alpha. I liked his kindness, and his caring for his pack and his little brother. He didn’t seem overly dominate to me. I think that though is what Josh, a human who enters Silver Bullet to see what it is all about really needs though. Josh is very accepting of everything, I liked that not much conflict there. What little conflict there is, is easily solved making this a very light easy read. This is where my mixed feelings come in. I loved the concepts. BDSM, werewolves and mixing in mates, but the concept of mates is really driven home. A tad too much, we perhaps needed another word for it in places. I would rather feel the connection than just be told they are mates. However the sex and love is there. So I really think perhaps my mixed feelings come from this being a first book in the series. Sometimes a first book starts off a bit rocky and then the flow comes with the second one. So I am looking forward to reading what comes next. This book does a great job of setting things up for us making me want more. I say pick this book up it is a different look at shifters and love that I think readers would really enjoy seeing.
The Alpha's Mate was a cute little number from a new author for me. It's a typical shifter/mate story without any surprises and with little actual plot, but despite that it has a certain charm and that dose of something that makes these kind of books so addicting.
Gideon is a standard Alpha, super strong, capable and completely dedicated to his pack. That is also pretty much all one can say about his personality. Oh and possessive, I forgot that tidbit :) He definitely needed more fleshing out and even more of a description not including his cock. But then again the same this happened with Josh, he finished college, loves number and he's human. The end.
With all that said, they are a couple that fits and this was a good base for the rest of the series. I'm looking forward to more.

If you like Charlie Richards books you like this. It is a very standard shifter series book that solidly sets up a paranormal world to build what I assume is a epic long series. I can already see two or more future pairings coming up. Insta-love, growling alphas, "I need to fuck you all the time", a benevolent alpha that takes in strays of all kinds, ect. This is complete candy that is enjoyable in small doses. The only potential I can see for something different is the world opens up the optionof not just shifters, but bondage vampires, witches, warlocks, and the whole slew of magic totting paranomals to mix and match with the wolf pack.
Hmm this is tough. I liked it.. BUT it was also boring in a way! There was no huge battle or issue to get over to be together, nothing for them to face together that made it all the more sweeter to get to the happy ending. The biggest excitement would be what's the story with tiger shifter Sam. Then the too young mate for right now seems too similar to Nehalem Pack by AJ Jarrett.
I guess will have to see what the next book offers and hope that there is actually something exciting in it.
So.. dilemma.. 2 stars for major lack of conflict or...
This was a nice little short one. Definitely an insta-love story, I really liked Gideon and Josh was bearable as the naive, young human. I actually enjoyed the stories of the side characters more though. Sean and Blair's book should be really interesting and I'm interested in hearing Sam's story too. I noticed the situation with Maddox, Holden and Blair and I know the author writes menage stories under the name Alicia White. I'll definitely have to check out those stories as well:)
My second audiobook of the year and I have to say, Olivia Black left me curious about her series. This book was so good and romantic. Some may say it was a little unreal but we are talking wolf shifters and matings in this series so... I expect that this fast falling in love or love at first sight it's going to be an on going thing. The scenes where good, not perfect but good and I enjoy it. I was listening to it on a road trip and I was smiling most of the way while I was doing it. I will keep up with this series for sure.
It was decent. I mean, I guess the real issue for me is that I looked forward to learning more about the characters introduced in this book, but reading the excerpts and reader reviews, I really don't want to read the other books in this series. Which is sad, because there was decent set up in this one. I guess it comes down to the fact that usually I hate when a book takes so much focus off the main characters to introduce secondary characters.... but if that happens in a book, I really expect a worthy follow up later.
Half a star! A book for adults written with the language and mentality suitable for little kids! Too many unnecessary and occasionally stupid sentences which could have easily been replaced by a single word or term. The conversations are unnatural and boring and a grat portion of them don't contribute to the plot execution. Further more the author practically advertises her ignorance on many subjects during this book, and even worse problems are created where there aren't any!!!
Another typical shifter story, but so good! Gideon is a powerful and sexy alpha shifter who meets and falls in love with his human mate Josh. Of course from the very moment they meet they have an instant love and romance. The author also gives us glimpses of other shifters in the story that I am sure will be the roles of future books. Quick read but really good.
This is a new author for me. So far the series looks good. The books seem really short, however.
My main complaints are that the writing is a little rough in the description of sex scenes and dialogue. Atmosphere description is fabulous, but the bodies tend to move in ways hard to visualize or anatomically impossible. Hopefully this improves as the series progresses
A cute short story. This is a good opening book for this series if a bit short. I felt like we just start getting into the story and it ends. This is a bit of a typical book for this publisher. Just a happy, feel good book.
cute book but for some reason it didn't really focus on the couple as much as I would have liked. To be honest I think the author was so busy setting up the world for future books that this books main characters feel by the wayside.
Wasn't a whole book in and of itself. Not a lot of plot and doesn't stand on its own although nothing particularly wrong with the little story it did have. Perhaps if the story hadn't been unnecessarily divided into so many tiny pieces it would have gotten a better rating from me.
I liked it but my problems were that is was too short. Didn't get into any depth or insight. Lots of things were glossed over and felt slightly disjointed..
