Riley Jameson is a normal guy. A little hard-of-luck and going through a rough time at work, but nothing he can't handle.
That was until the creatures rose. The dead, walking. Feasting on human flesh, their hunger insatiable. The police are gone. The government has collapsed. The world as Riley knew it has changed, forever.
In this new, terrifying world, Riley is forced to think quick and act fast in order to survive. His morals will be pushed to the very limit, forcing the question: can humanity survive the onslaught of the dead, not only on the outside but on the inside?
There will be blood. There will be tears. In the Dead Days, nobody is safe.
In the first episode of Dead Days, a six-part zombie apocalypse serial launching every Thursday, Riley's world is turned upside down when the dead start to walk. Barricaded in his flat with his layabout friend, Ted, the pair are forced to think outside the box to escape, as well as come to terms with the carnage surrounding them.

Ryan Casey is the author of over a dozen novels and a highly successful serial. He writes gritty post-apocalyptic fiction, throwing normal people into devastating situations and exploring how they react and adapt. He has also written several detective mysteries and thrillers. Across all genres, Casey's work is renowned for its rapid pacing, unforgettably complex characters, and knockout twists.
Casey lives in the United Kingdom. He has a BA degree in English with Creative Writing from the University of Birmingham, and has been writing stories for as long as he can remember. In his spare time, he can be spotted walking his West Highland White Terrier, has a passion for cinema and television, and probably spends a little bit too much time in the pub.

I was looking forward to this...a zombie book set in the UK without guns to take on the undead. Yay! Well, no actually. The two main characters Riley and Ted were like the English version of Bill and Ted. Both were meant to be adult men who instead had the mentality of teenage boys. This book was like Shaun of the Dead and not in a good way as I hated that film.
Riley is a moron. At the interview to decide if he still has a job, he turns up with stained trousers, cracks jokes about the name of his interviewer and behaves like an idiot. No real surprise that he will be losing his job then. He lies to his gran about keeping his job and lets her plan a party to celebrate-yes lets humiliate gran to her friends who will all know the truth! He sees people in suits and dresses running down the street yelling in panic and wonders if it is a fun run. He tries to give medical assistance to a zombie who is halfed in two. The guy is a complete moron. Ted is a lazy lump from hell who sits home all day playing games and has the nerve to get concerned about rent now Riley won't be working. Get off your ass and find a job then!
And the plot was really bad. Ted the fat guy just happens to have a rope ladder in the flat that Riley can climb on to entice the zombies away from the car park. Right. And they happen to meet the only person in the apartment building who has a nice handy gun. I find it hard to believe that Ted had the brains to plan his own dinner never mind the escape.
Wonderful read! The book was fast paced and character-driven, just as Casey promised. I can't wait to read the rest! Fans of zombie fiction should definitely pick this up.
I actually really like this one and I have to say that it really gives me in the beginning Shaun of the Dead vibes. Being that I am a big fan of the movie it really helped draw me into this one even more. If you follow me at all you know that I will read any zombie story I can find and especially at this time of year. Most of them I enjoy but there have been a couple that weren't so great. This one moved very well and for the size of the story it works like a serial novel with a good cliffhanger at the end. Definitely worth giving a try.
Great read lots of action a" Wee bita everything for a zombie apocalypse. I wanted to buy book 2 but can't seem to find it on anything other than kindle
A brief but hella good start to a zombie apocalypse series. The novella is well paced and skilfully narrated- the characters stunned reaction to the idea that the dead are eating those still alive is moving and very well written.
Dead Days Episode One begins the examination of important apocalyptic tropes in an entertaining and in some cases tragic fashion- the outsider with questionable sanity, the loved ones who have turned and must be put down, the person left behind so that the protagonists can save themselves (though I believe Riley and Ted are going to run Jordanna again, to their detriment) and most importantly, the struggle to not let the horror rob the characters of their humanity.
I've been left down by my last couple of zombie series, but I have a strong feeling that dead days is gonna be a good one.
Very short but great read! The author takes you into the lives of a few people experiencing the beginning of the end. In this short read he creates characters you want to follow closely. he brings them to life easily and allows you to recognize from your own lives. then he takes a step toward the unknown of the appocolypse that takes over the world as they know it and what desperation they will conceed to during this time!
While not much of an achievement unfortunately, this was probably the best free e-book I have read so far. It only just gets three stars, but it is solid and relatively entertaining and I do (sort of) want to know what happens next. It is fairly derivative and not exceptional in any way, but there are fewer typos, and it is less nonsensical for the most part than other free e-books I've experienced. I will probably read episode 2 which I didn't expect to say when I began this one.
I liked this book - it kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. The only thing I didn't like was that it was just too short. I finished it in a hour, and that was with interruptions. I would recommend this book to others, but would warn them that it is very short.....
This was a very intense story about Zombies! Emotions are very real and the author manages to make you feel part of a real zombie outburst, with all the implied stress, struggle to accept the facts, and hard decisions. I really liked this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Great first installment for the series. Strong characters and the quick-paced plot makes an old subject matter (zombies) exciting. An easy read in the sense that I'm not so much reading this story as I am experiencing it alongside the characters. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
This book was okay, the only thing that let this down for me was the lack of action. They run into zombies and before you know it there safe again without any real struggle. Hopefully will pick up as the story continues.
Loved this book. It was an easy read. A real page turner. It has zombies with blood, guts and gore. It was a fantastic creepy read. I totally enjoyed it and am on my way to purchase episode 2. If your into zombies then this is for you.
This is the first episode in a zombie series. I enjoyed reading it .The characters are easy to relate to, and their personalities are realistically presented.Though it was kind of short but it was still thrilling and enjoyable.
As with any book in this genre, the beginning was a little shaky and rather predictable. I thought the dialogue was a little weak, but I will admit I was kind of drawn into the story a bit. I will be reading the rest of the series, and anticipate the story picking up as it progresses.
Really short, but free on my kindle. I think I am going to buy the next episode. I feel this was very well written, which is more than I can say about a lot of writers.
Great zombie book also love the fact it is based in the North West of UK my area too. I have just bought the whole series for Dead Days so look forward to reading it.
This is OK, the Walking Dead set in the UK instead of the US. Fewer guns, the same sort of visceral violence. Good characters in the main, but a pretty flat reading experience.
