Finding The Path

Rate this book
Almost everyone dreams of making it. What they want is never the same, but all that wanting is the engine of our lives. Right from wanting the next breath of air to the most idiosyncratic life goal, we're chasing something. Even though we're all chasing something different, our paths intersect. Finding The Path follows two school friends in a chase for success in life.
How do you decide when you've made it and what do you do then?

Born into a reasonably comfortable life, it took me years to realize that I would have to work hard to maintain it. I didn't and took an extended course in downward social mobility. Not far enough to really suffer, but aware that I could if I really tried.
Good at some things and not so good at others, I avoided the worst in life through being smart, scared and lucky. The few times when these attributes failed, I managed to survive.
Though I have literally traveled around the world, I'm not a good traveler. Lacking that wonderful ability to find companions and a soft bed wherever I land, I have been satisfied with adequate shelter and an early start in the morning.
Settled into scientific research for the latter part of my working life, I had to find an alternative field of endeavor when the gaps in work became too extensive to ignore. A determination to write what I observed rather than what people wanted to hear was probably a major factor in those gaps. Between the sparse episodes of research that I love, I am trying out the same strategy in writing stories.
