I read it very quick, it gave me the basics but I still left asking a lot of questions. I suspect I just need someone to guide me through it.

I read this a long time ago but I still remember a lot of it. Since reading it, I always try to think of the main points before I start doing something to my house. Here are the ones I remember:

-having your bed so that your feet point towards the door is bad because people who die in their sleep are dragged out by their feet straight through the door; so that is like a tiny death wish (my bed is this way though, and I am doing good so far!)

-your bed shouldn't intersect any doorway

-mirrors should reflect nice things, not the front door, a door to the bathroom, a bed, or stairs

-having a fireplace in your bedroom is bad because fire can be a negative energy

-having a fan in your room that is above the bed is bad because the fan's blades are like arrows that shoot bad energy down towards you. (I have a fan above my bed too). But if the fan is more over your feet than over your head, it's better.

-mirrors in the bedroom bring bad energy

-having a mirror facing another mirror (like mirrors on opposite walls) is bad because the energy isn't able to flow easily through the room; it gets stuck bouncing back and forth between the mirrors.

-having plants and fountains is super good feng shui mostly anywhere in the home except bedrooms because it promotes positive energy and prevents the stagnant 'dead' feel of stale energy (the book goes into details about which corners certain things would be better located)

-don't have too much square/rectangular furniture - the pointy edges don't allow energy to flow smoothly throughout a room; throw in some circular shapes here and there, which are very auspicious

-people in Asia still use feng shui, even/especially in the business world; like if a company is looking to purchase a building they first consult a feng shui expert to see if everything is aligned and that there are no parts of it that have bad energy

This book is very practical, and it broke the paradigm that Feng Shui cost a lot of money!
