Rule #1 of Aether University: Don’t make deals with the devil.
Luna attends Aether University with one goal in mind: to slay demons.
But only if they don’t slay her first.
Vengeful spirits pounce on any sign of weakness: attraction included.
Yet when a new, ungodly handsome demon arrives, Luna finds herself trapped between duty and desire.
Heir to a deadly throne, striking as sin, and restless to make a bargain, an otherworldly prince threatens everything Luna came to destroy.
Demons are possessive. Protective. Dangerous.
And the Prince of Demons just found a human he can’t resist.
Never show weakness. Especially not in your heart.
The Prince of Demons is a fast-paced, enemies-to-lovers novel with tricky bargains and deadly secrets. Readers who like a wicked sharp heroine, “touch-her-and-die” prince, and shadow-wielding characters will love the first installment of the Aether University series.
4.5! CAN WE JUST. At first I was confused but then everything clicked. Gossip Girl vibes but for college? ATE IT UP. Hana knew exactly what she was doing, and after the first alert and hunting scene happened.. I binged this book!
I received this ARC and am leaving this review voluntarily, all thoughts/opinions above are my own.
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to Book Sirens and Hana Hahm for providing me with an advance reader's copy (ARC) of "The Prince of Demons." Now, let's delve into my honest take on this upcoming release.
As I eagerly dived into "The Prince of Demons" with high expectations, I had hoped for an enthralling fantasy adventure. However, after reading through its pages, I must admit that the book left me feeling rather underwhelmed.
The plot of "The Prince of Demons" held potential with its promise of action and intrigue, but it didn't quite manage to captivate me as I had envisioned. Despite the occasional sparks of excitement, I found myself longing for a more engaging and immersive storyline.
One crucial element that affected my reading experience was the characters. Regrettably, I couldn't forge the essential connection with them that I usually seek in a story. This lack of emotional resonance left me feeling somewhat disconnected from the narrative, making it challenging to fully invest in their relationships and friendships.
One aspect that stood out to me was the portrayal of the female main character (FMC). While I appreciate diverse character traits, I found her preoccupation with her appearance, particularly her skin, to be overly emphasized. It felt superficial and detracted from the character's overall depth and growth. In my opinion, there could have been more focus on her personality and journey rather than her physical attributes.
I want to emphasize that this review reflects my own personal perspective, and other readers might have a different experience with the book. Our individual tastes and preferences influence how we interpret and enjoy literature.
With the release date set for July 31st, "The Prince of Demons" might still appeal to readers who enjoy a distinct type of fantasy narrative. Despite not meeting my personal expectations, I encourage others to give it a chance and explore the fantastical world it offers.
In conclusion, I extend my thanks once again to Book Sirens and Hana Hahm for providing the ARC and giving me the opportunity to read "The Prince of Demons" before its official release. Although it didn't quite capture my heart, I remain hopeful that the book will find its audience among fantasy enthusiasts looking for a different kind of adventure.
Remember, every reading journey is unique, and what didn't resonate with me might become a treasured tale for someone else. Happy reading, everyone!
4.5! I don't think I've ever rooted for the villain so hard before. I couldn't put this book down I binged it in one sitting. I love how the magic system is set up and the characters develop. We all need a friend like Gaksi in our lives. Hana knew exactly what we wanted, and i cannot wait for her next book!!
I received a copy of this ARC and i am leaving a review voluntarily, all opions and thoughts are my own.
Jesus. This was so hard to read. Very modern millennial dialogue and felt like poorly written YA fanfic. The protagonist’s biggest character development was getting over her rosacea..?
Plot-wise, I thought the story had potential, it promised action and intrigue, but somehow the story didn't really manage to captivate me. There were occasional funny interactions or interesting action sequences, but at about 58% I was just hoping for the end.
One of the few things this book does well is make you root for the villain.
My reading experience of "The Prince of Demons" reminded me a lot of "The Awakening - Zodiac Academy #1", BUT with way less bullying.
Also, as an Austrian german speaker, I guess my brain was too caught up on Gaksi being the name for one of our key characters {Gaksi sounds like the diminutive of Gackerl - which means turd} to actually focus on said character's actions.
Thanks to Hana Hahm for providing me with an eARC of the book and giving me the opportunity to share my honest opinion about the book.
This book was a 3-star because I feel like some aspects of the powers and world building were a little confusing at times. I caught myself re-reading parts often to see if I missed something. I also wish we had a little more insight into how the FMC was raised and all that she was taught. Sometimes she’ll pop up with random skills or knowledge that is just explained by “my mother taught me”, and for a while I wasn’t clear why her mother would even know these things. Otherwise, I think this was a really great take on supernatural academia. I liked how high-stakes the school and how unique the process of learning there was. I also really enjoyed the FMC having lapses in judgement here and there that were within reason.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I wasn't sure at First but then I loved it loved the twists and each character the life lesson of loving yourself for who you are no matter the opinions of others
Too much drama and miscommunication. It was to the point where the main characters were still fighting with each other all the way to the last few pages.
PG - 2 stars because that's the minimum I give any book I've finished. Did I enjoy this? No. But, did I waste my time reading this? Yes. Lame story, lame writing.
Hii!! The first thing I want to say is that this book really relaxed me. That's the first feeling I had after finishing it. It ends with a little plot twist, preparing us for the next book. I personaly chose to read it after I read "Fourth Wing", because it has some similarities and I needed something to get me out of my Fourth Wing "hangover", and it did it's job. :) The story is very unique, interesting, with plot twist, romance, and a great bond between the two main characters. I personally wanted the romantic and emotional scenes to be a bit longer, more powerful, more intimate, to show us the bond between Reaper and Luna. I was searching for more scenes where she shows him her feelings, comforting him, just wanted to see a build up to a "real" relationship between them. However, besides that, I really enjoyed reading it, and I hope that we're gonna get more drama, challanges, romance for our couple in the next book!!! <<33
Luna is not a wolf shifter. Her name threw me for a hot minute, but she is a paranormal whose mother hates her for having inherited her mom’s abilities. Her father is a normal human. Luna is also of Korean descent, which just tickles me pink. I love the little details at the beginning. While she grew up hiding her sordid darkness, she doesn’t act tortured, angsty, or disruptive, and I love her for that. Instead, Luna has a (might I say) cute goblin sidekick and a bleeding heart. Naturally, her mother and father send her to a cutthroat college that fails 60% or more of the students. Yow. To survive, she gets creative, and she approaches the student paper for a position. What she discovers is a fae bargain assigning her to follow her new “friend”, the Reaper. He keeps showing up as a murderer tours the campus. But don’t worry, it doesn’t feel like an episode of Criminal Minds. Unfortunately she ends up in an additional bargain with the Reaper just as her mother orders her to stay away from him. Well, that bites. Hiding her bargains and hiding her abilities from her friends turns increasingly challenging. Luna gains two new friends at the university, and I like them. I already guessed who is the murderer, but who cares? Cordelia is sweet and has discovered her own paramour. And Aubrey is the fashionable new friend. You might get frustrated with Luna. She is self-absorbed and somewhat prickly. However, Aubrey calls her on it, later. I was so relieved that the author was aware of her faults.
The romance: ====================== This is primarily a PNR, or paranormal romance:
Luna’s interactions with Reaper are not exactly steamy, but so what? “When the daze cleared, I was back in my bedroom. Alert. Awake. Alarmed, because I was sitting in a demon’s lap, over my bed.“
Perhaps we should make another deal, then.” ⁃ I cursed at him.* ⁃ That was not ladylike.”* ⁃ “Forgive me if your deals give me unladylike levels of aggravation.”* ======================
The little details show how good this story is. I cannot begin to tell you what this means:
“You were cursed with my love from the moment you met me.”
What I can say is the sentence above explained why her mother was cold and resentful, why the king of death interviewed every potential lover for his son. The only truth lies in death.
Or check out this detail: the king’s hands were stiff from the beginning of rigor mortis.

This is my first review, but I just had to do it! This was the most awful book I've ever read and yet I kept reading until the end. Usually, when I don't like something I just drop it, but this had something about it that kept me going , I don't even know what exactly it was. I didn't like the writing at all - very confusing, in some places unlogical and it didn't make any sense, the world building was poorly done in my opinion. The heroine, oh well, it started good with her character but after a while she became ridicilous - stating something important (her beliefs about the academy or how she feels about Reaper for example) in one sentence and contradicts herself in the other. She became very annoying and I didn't see any development in her at all, just childlike behaviour (and yet she was presented as this bada** warior and etc. ). 90% of the book she speaks of how Reaper is evil, how he maybe plots her demise and the demise of her world and other stuff of this sort (btw he doesn't behave in this way at all, in contrary - he helped her every time and was sweet and kind to her and all), she spied on him and talked bad to and about him BUT in the final 10% of the book she turns 180 degrees and says how she always loved him and she will fight for him and etc. (this is what I call bulls**t of epic proportions). Reaper'a character had a good idea behind it but was also poorly done in the long turn, he was not able to reach his potebtial. Overall, there was something interesting about this story and the idea behind this book but it was so poorly done that it ruined it. All of the other characters from the academy were ridicilous too, the academy as the institution of magic powers in the human world was included in the story like a joke, totally not described and totally hideous. I was so curious, telliing myself that maybe I didn't get it, that the ending would be so worth it and all of this mess will finally make sense. Unfortunetly, the ending was also really bad, totally not worth it - very very rushed happy ending out of the blue.. That's why I wanted to leave a review, I was sooo disappointed by this book. Yet, I leave it 2 STARS because despite everything it made me read through the very end and that's something. I never experienced anything like this with another book!
* Now that I think about it, the only thing I liked was Gaksi goblin and maybe I kept reading only because of him.
Ps: I don't mean to offend the author in any way, this is just my honest opinion about how this book made me feel. I know writing a book is a hard and very trying task, and I want to congrat the author that she managed to do it. I hope her next books will be much much betteer!

Prince of Demons Rating: 4.5 stars (Rounded up) This is one of those magic academy books, but with some more unique twists. Luna, the main character, has dark powers that she is hiding, and the school she attends is more sinister than it appears. I really loved Luna’s character traits. She was brave and cunning- someone I could respect as she really held her own in this school. I also liked that she felt more real because she had insecurities and flaws. I appreciated that the author included aspects of Luna struggling with her appearance and her complicated relationship with her mother while also learning to accept herself and her darkness. I also loved the mysterious love interest, he was certainly swoon worthy. Luna also has the best sidekick. The main characters were developed very well, but I wish that I could have emotionally connected more with the side characters. There were several side characters introduced, but I felt that they existed just to move different plot points of the story and not as real people who I could connect with. Additionally, I think the story could have benefited from more worldbuilding. At times, I did feel that it was a bit disjointed, and I couldn’t form a clear picture of the world. I think more time could have been spent giving more context in terms magic and how it exists in this world. Overall, I did really enjoy the story. The plot was good and surprised me on several occasions, and I liked the main character. I am rating the book 4.5 stars because although it did have some flaws, as a whole, it did really entertain me and provide me with enjoyment as a reader. The end had a cool twist too, and I would definitely be interested in continuing the series. Note: I received a free arc (Thank you Book Sirens and Hana Hahm!), but this review is entirely my honest opinion of the book.
Honestly, I would have DNF’d this book if it wasn’t my book clubs pick for March.
“The sun may stop rising, and the moon might get tired of orbit and spirit away, and the stars may fall down to earth and destroy everything in their path. And darkness may be replaced by light, and smoke consumed with air, and curses extinguished with love, but until the night stops falling, I will always be yours, Luna.”
In this book, you join Luna on her adventure at Aether University. She’s trying to find her place among the different houses, which are like sororities. You get to see her “rush” these houses, and try to decide which house is the best fit for her. On top of dealing with the pressure from her mom and friends to be perfect and always aim for the finest things in life, she meets the prince of demons - Reaper. Reaper and Luna strike a deal that connects them, and they have this will-they-won’t-they thing going on throughout the book. Reaper is teaching her how to control her shadows and love herself the way she is, while also hunting for the Gumiho demon.
The book had a lot of potential, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The world-building was a bit confusing, and I still don’t fully understand how the magic system works. The banter and romance were also lacking. I never really felt like the main characters were into each other or cared about each other.
But hey, if you read this book and loved it, that’s awesome! It just wasn’t my cup of tea, and I’d probably recommend a different book.
Okay the map literally looks like I remember the Neopets map looking as far as art style so don't love that. But after that initial criticism, I forgot to take any notes until about 1/3rd of the way through because I was just reading and takin' it all in. At that point, I did still have some questions, but nothing so glaring that it truly impacted my reading. The biggest question mark for me was the passage of time- I would think a few days tops had passed and then it would say that it had been months. That and I'm still confused about the shadows. They didn't do much for most of the book? I will say that at points, it definitely became a little trite. The kinda flirty truth or dare game with the crush/demon was hilarious to me. The whole "I went away to college and it's been 2 months but I grew up, MOM!" sequence...also cliché. Her childhood dolls get destroyed and she legit says "severing the ties to the last of my innocence and memories" which is a little on the nose. "The vibes were good enough, sorry bestie"- is a line from a villain. HUH. Slang or pop culture references like that just won't age well. It already hasn't. In general, I didn't love Luna and a lot of her thoughts/decisions weren't logical, which can be written off due to the fact that she's a teenager, but it took away from my enjoyment of the book. The ending was mostly predictable but not bad. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I feel like this series honestly has a lot of potential. The magical system is unique and a bit complex, which I wish would’ve been delved into a bit more, but the idea of only having Magic once you have a permanent place amongst the Houses at Aether university was intriguing. The story in its entirety seems to encompass a whole school year’s worth of time and I feel as though the story would’ve benefited more had there not have been so many jumps in time. There were moments where I would get a little confused because I didn’t realize right away that time had passed. We have the classic element of light vs dark Magic and this story really will have you rooting for the villain. His character is well put together and, although he was mildly infuriating as intended, he is probably my favorite character, save for Gaksi. I did like Luna towards the end, but the fact that a good chunk of the book focused on her preoccupation with her skin and her need to please her atrocious mother made her seem a bit superficial and left me feeling a bit put off to her character at first. The book ends on a gentle cliffhanger and I really liked the change of events in the last few chapters. I hope the next book will dive more into the magic of this world and we learn more of the Otherworld.

I received this book as an ARC, so thank you to the author, which makes me feel bad to have to give it a 3. Reading the summary peaked my interest and sounded like a fun read. I was excited for it, wanting to change my reading mood. I have been so engrossed in mafia bully romance lately, that a little fantasy college bully sounded like a good segway out before the creepy season and I thought it is college season so perfect.
I really liked how the author through in some gossip girl like action, some banter back and forth with all the characters. I loved and pulled for the MMC character here. Having said all that, let me just say that, I like a little more depth with my characters and plot so that I feel them after I put the book down. I like it when I think about the characters in the background when I am not reading the book and can not wait to pick it back up again to see what happens next.
I did not get that with this book. I liked it but I did not get enough. I was wanting is the best way to put it. I just got halfway through and then I just lost interest. I really think it was because I was not in the mood and will come back to it later because I did like it for the most part. It has such great potential just not sure if it is for me.
3.5 ⭐ Are you interested in attending a school filled with fairies, sirens, vampires, wolves, witches, angels, and familiars? Are you captivated by the "enemy to lovers" trope? Then, this is the perfect book for you! This captivating story, reminiscent of Harry Potter's magical school and house sorting, will take you on a journey of uncovering demons, ancient prophecies, and forbidden love. Will the protagonist, Luna, successfully complete the year in her preferred house and, most importantly, survive? Will Luna's supposed friends prove to be true allies? Can Luna find herself with the man she dreams of? I rated this book with only a few stars because, despite its promising storyline, I found it excessively slow and confusing (well beyond the halfway point), and the disjointed, brief chapters didn't aid in the reading experience. However, everything will eventually be clarified. I particularly enjoyed the infusion of Korean folklore throughout the text.
I received this book as an ARC (Advanced Reader's Copy), and I'm delighted to share my honest thoughts about it.
New Adult Fantasy romance is set at a cutthroat demon-hunting college. The leading female character, Luna enters Aether University to gain acceptance into a house. Each house represents magic abilities and can bestow their power to their initiates. Will Luna survive the cut? Can she keep her secrets? The story goes through her freshman year of self-discovery and is highly relatable. Que in powerful demon Prince trouble, Reaper. He’s described as devilishly handsome, but I think his actions are swoon-worthy and attractive. The relationship is rocky and has some tender (but PG moments).
The strengths are the relationship-building moments of vulnerability. There are also some fun plot twists and great imagery.
The weaknesses revolve around some of the world-building and magic system. Everything seems more or less vague. Additionally, the end felt weak and rushed. It still feels like a solid read and would recommend it to any young adult fantasy fans.
if you know me, YOU KNOW i *never* dnf a book no matter what, except if it's disgusting (like the fmc is under 18yo and the mmc isn't underage as well... iykyk), which is NOT the case of this book (i think? didn't get that far)
however, this book's so boring it actually gave me fomo good books. And, again, I never DNF a book so... CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW BAD IT HAS TO BE?
The writing is also pretty bad, sorry 😐 Like the fmc randomly went up a tree after literally just attending a funeral just because???? Or like everyone keeps saying how demons are bad but honestly they just sound as bad as any other house (like the angels)? Or how the fmc has this intense hate towards the Reaper (who, mind you, never did anything to her) but she's cool with any other demons so far, and actually has one as fricking pet? And before you say anything: no, it's not like a enemies to lovers kinda of thing, there's no basis for her to be like that, he's literally doing his job....
Anyways, I gave my everything but even I have limits
The prince of demons was a really enjoyable book. It tells the story of Luna, a young adult who joins quite a peculiar university. This university welcomes people with special lineage and fosters them so that they can discover their powers and fight demons.
Luna is obviously quite special ans holds a few secrets of her own which become very hard to keep as a series of mysterious murders happen on campus.
I liked how the author built the characters in this book. The development of the two main characters and their interactions felt real and natural. It was really an effortless read and I really liked the romance in the book. There is more to come but the book provides a real ending even if you don't pick up the rest of the series, it still ends on a very satisfying note.

This book would be fabulous for teens just starting into fantasy reading. It gave me gossip girl mixed with zodiac academy vibes. There is a love interest but it’s not spicy. Imagery was very well written and I could vividly see so many of the scenes in my head. I could have done with less of the eczema parts of the book, it truly felt like too much. Although I understand it was a major part of the characters insecurities, I just got to a point where I was like okay, we get it. This would be a wonderful read for those struggling with skin issues, think teens and puberty. It shows that beauty isn’t just skin deep and these girls can still be baddies. Overall I enjoyed it and wished it was a series. When my daughter is a little bit older it will definitely be one I recommend to her!

I found this book to be a fun read, though occasionally a bit confusing just due to how it was written. Sometimes character reactions felt like they came out of nowhere and made me question whether maybe a scene had been cut out but the subsequent chapters not tweaked to make it all read smoothly.
Also some of the formatting with the dialogue was confusing. I had to re-read some sections of dialogue multiple times to understand that the same character was speaking even thought the author had started a new paragraph with new quotations marks. Typically if a character continues speaking you would not close their quotations, start a new paragraph and open new quotations again.
Altogether it was an interesting plot idea that has a lot of potential if it is polished up a bit more.
I noted a lot of similarities with Scarlett St. Clair's "A Touch of Darkness." Overbearing mother refuses to share the full truth with her daughter, said daughter possesses magic and an "evil" soul-mate. Said soul-mate is the ruler of the underworld, caring for the souls that have crossed over and showing that the underworld is not as bad as it seems. Whiney girl is back and forth, "I love him, I love him not" and constantly finding flaws in the male before accepting that he is her fated love.
Overall, I found this book to be rather hard to follow at times. We were thrown in the middle of a story with no back story ever provided. It jumps around in time and is very unclear, and it seems like certain storylines get glossed over when moving to the next scene.

Aether University has it all, excellent curriculum, magical beings, house parties, and it’s very own gossip girl.
With heavy themes by way of mythology, we follow Luna as she tries to thrive and survive this brutal academy all while dealing with her own personal issues. When she meets an unexpected being… well, we know how that story goes.
This book definitely has a lot of strong themes and tropes: autoimmune representation, bargains, fated mates, college, found family, and secret heir/chosen one energy.
