Carter tries to resist, but I'll make sure he is mine.

My father, Cain Buchanan, is my hero and one of the most notorious serial killers in the country. He was known as, The Chameleon. You might have heard of him.

Rules are for other people. They didn’t apply to me or my dad. I’d learned all about our family legacy at a young age. That didn’t bother me. But navigating who I was outside of our family farm was proving to be more difficult than I imagined.
Controlling my emotions was always an issue, especially where Carter Kohlmann was concerned. Everyone thought he was my brother, which made falling in love with him, stalking him, and ensuring he stayed mine…tricky.

So how did one learn to control their urges and desires? Maybe for someone like me, Kallie Buchanan, you never did.

At the age of two, my parents were killed in a car crash. That was how I ended up living with not one but five serial killers. That had to be a record. My goal in life was to keep my head down and not give Cain Buchanan any reason to end me. That included getting involved with his daughter Kallie, despite my ever growing feelings for her. So, instead I keep those fantasies locked up tight and only let them out when I’m alone at night.

But when an evil—that almost destroyed our family once—returns, it will take an alliance with the man I fear the most to ensure that the woman I love comes home. No one touches Kallie, but me.

People would call Kallie crazy, but I called her mine.

Writing is not just a passion for me. It is a lifeline to my sanity.

I have always loved writing but suffer from severe dyslexia and short-term memory retention issues. I struggled in school while I worked every night on re-training my brain.

I was frequently treated like I would never succeed, and I found myself putting my love for writing on a shelf.

Even at the age of six, I found it easier to communicate with animals than people, which was a big reason why I was drawn to dressage horseback riding. I remained focused on my passion for riding until I had to step away from the competition world for personal reasons.

Today, my desire for writing and storytelling has been rekindled. I have published multiple books and will never let anyone or anything hold me back again.
I am a proud romance author who offers my readers morally grey heroes, a ton of spice, epic journeys, and redemption stories.

Kallie is so much like Cain yet Carter helps her maintain a heart. Over the years as their feelings change and grow, he’s determined to keep things platonic. Her father’s daughter, she won’t take no for an answer.

Whew… I feel like saying anything would give things away and you really want to go in blind unless you’re worried about the TW. What I’ll tell you is, if you loved Cain, you’re you’re going to love Kallie!!

DNF - MAJOR SPOILER below.

I don’t know if I’ll come back to this or not. I’m leaning toward not. I loved and rated the first two books in this series both 5 stars.

This book is about the daughter (Kallie) of the couple from Unhinged Cain. This book kills off Kirby, her mother and Cain’s former HEA from the first book, early on. I can’t even articulate how not okay I am with that. Cain is a terrible person but I read these books for the HEAs. Removing the first books HEA is not okay. I really don’t even care what purpose it supposedly serves in the plot. I hate it.

Ok.
So.
Just give me a minute.
The feels I feel are rather overwhelming to be honest!

I've become a major fan of Brooklyn's work, I love her messed up mind, I love the way it works but I can also admit that this is most definitely not to everyone's taste.
Is it twisted? Yes. Messed up? Yes. Is it morally not normal. Definitely yes. But it's a story so before you go and read it and then complain - just don't. You'll traumatise yourself and then complain, so just don't.
And also, If you haven't read Unhinged Cain or Twisted Abel, I recommend going back and starting there, you'll get the full picture and understand them more.

Now, if like me, you like the more black instead of dark, then buckle up because Kallie is a force like no other. And her Hero Carter is just such a freaking good guy - that may live with a family of serial unalivers and accept it, but he's still a good guy.

I'm not going to go into the storyline because spoilers are just the devil's work, so I'll just say that this book is top notch. It has so much wrongness that it's just right. It has a family that is twisted, seriously, their lessons and rules are just 😳 yet I was glued to the screen and I loved them. They made me feel so much, I laughed, gasped and I even cried! I cheered them on and I worried for them. And the protectiveness over each other just lightened my lil black heart 💞

If you like, dark, twisted, wrong, messed up messiness, with characters that you can't not love, go for it.
If you're even slightly unsure - don't. Turn back now and forget it exists!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You are my Sunshine…

I’m giving major side eye to you Brooklyn Cross👀 I just can’t with you right now😭
My emotions have been all over the place since chapter 7!!

To say that I loved this book is not enough! I feel wrung out and I have such a book hangover!

Death. Heartache. Tears. Unhinged. Violence. Blood. Revenge. Death. Heartache. Unhinged. Violence. Blood. VENGEANCE. Tears. Hope. New Life.

Cain as a father was interesting to read. A sociopath with the inability to feel and show love like a normal person. Actions speak louder with him. Raising two kids was out of his comfort zone but he knew what he was doing and if he manipulated certain things along the way for his daughter then so be it.

Kallie and Carter were like magnets to each other. Carter only saw Kallie but being terrified of the man who raised him after his parents death kept him arms length away from her. He was three years older but Kallie knew from a young age that he was hers. Stalking him, killing for him and to finally have him was her only choice. Patience and a sharp knife was her only virtue.

So many things happen in this book that I couldn’t even begin to give a favorite or most hated part. It was a tumultuous ride and the only thing I can say is hold on it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Blubbering over a family of serial killers is not what I was expecting when I started reading this book. After Unhinged Cain I thought I knew what to expect, but yeah all that went out the window within the first seven chapters.

Brooklyn I really don’t think that there will ever be anything you write that I won’t love and hate at the same time. I hate to cry and you just sliced me open with this one. Love that you left it with a hope for the future but still have the sniffles, puffy eyes and a clenching fist of emotions in my chest!

You are my sunshine has an all new meaning to me now.

I’m going to try to do without spoilers, but Jesus. My heart is broken. I would like to know why you felt like breaking us? What did we do to you? I thought we were friends 😭 but seriously? I’m broken. No other words to describe how I feel. Just broken.

But back to the story.

Fantastic. Great plot ( hate you a little) but I loved the story. Kallie was so much like her dad and uncle it was fascinating. She was such a wild child. The taboo aspect was 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 loved it. The spice 🥵🥵🥵🥵 yesss ma’am you did that.

I loved how carter was “normal” but wasn’t afraid to protect kallie in anyway he could. He was soooo cute at times and other times I wanted to smack him upside the head. But I digress, another amazing story to add to this series.

Be warned, there is soooooo much heart ache in this one, I cried so much. So much guys.

Thank you so much to the author for giving me a show to read this arc.

Fantastic writing by Brooklyn Cross, love how she slips in those tidbits of dark humour in her stories! We do have cameos from the parents Cain and Kirby... which I loved. ❤ I strongly recommend reading Unhinged Cain first.

I enjoyed reading Kallie n Carters story, a lot of highly emotionally charged moments within this book. I was very happy with the conclusion.

Please heed the Trigger Warning, as it is a very dark read.

Highly Recommend this book.

( I did not 5 star, due to personal preference only. )

- FMC: Kallie
- MMC: Carter
- POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Cain, Kallie, Carter)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Kallie has grown up in a family of serial killers. With her father (Cain) being the infamous Chameleon, an uncle (Abel) who is crazier than crazy, and another generation being trained to do the same, she was bound to be a little...different. And she is. Just like her father, she has a craving to kill. But she has to learn the rules to stay safe and out of trouble.

After Carter's parents died in a car crash he was sent to live with Kirby and her family. But he's not the serial killer type. Still, he has fallen desperately in love with Kallie over the years. The problem? He doesn't want to be Cain's next victim if he makes a move on her.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

This was an utter disappointment for me. Absolutely devastating. How is this getting such good reviews? How are more people not angered by this book?

Let me back up. I was really excited for this book. I loved both Cain and Abel's books and their different varieties of crazy. So I was thrilled to read about the next generation.

But then here I am 16% into the book and BAM...Kirby is killed off. And I'm like..."wha?!?" I mean, this is a character who has had a previous HEA in Cain's book. You just...don't do that! You don't mess with a book character's HEA! I couldn't believe this happened.

So I was pretty angry by this, but I continued reading anyways. I liked Kallie alright, and I really liked Carter. So I can maybe move on from this. I'm even starting to like some of the side characters. And I'm thinking, "oh I do hope Talon and Troy (Kallie's cousins, Abel's kids) get books"...and then BAM! Troy is killed off. Fucking seriously? Are you kidding me with this shit? No. Just no.

Even if I liked Kallie and Carter (which I mostly did, but I'll get to that in a minute), I cannot forgive killing off all these main characters...ESPECIALLY a character who has already received a HEA in a previous book. This is completely unacceptable to me.

Now, as far as Kallie and Carter go, I loved them together. They are head over heels in love and I loved it. I loved that Kallie brought out sweet Carter's aggressive side. Hot!

But Kallie annoyed me a lot too. She's very impulsive and makes a lot of really stupid choices. She's sloppy and does not think things through at all. All of which are things Cain is trying to teach her throughout the book. And honestly I don't feel like she ever really learned that lesson by the end.

I also did not like the weirdly absent Abel and Aspen. They were talked about, but neither of them had more than a few lines in the whole book. I really thought the whole thing would feel like they are all one big happy serial killing family, but for obvious reasons that's not now things went at all.

One thing I did love was how Cain stepped up to ensure Kallie would have Carter to be her person (so long as he's not killed off later, of course). The scene where Cain catches them during sex and having "the talk" with Carter about marrying her while he was all tied up was hilarious. Best scene in the whole book!

The story was okay, but not nearly as off the hook crazy as Cain and Abel's books were. It just didn't feel like the same vibe.

Overall I'm disappointed. I probably would've liked the book better if several main characters weren't killed off. I think she could've gone in a different direction without killing Kirby, and Troy was completely unnecessary to kill off. I just can't trust this series to not kill off main characters.

So will I be reading on if more come out? Hell no. Fuck that! I'm done. I'd recommend the first two books in this series, but not any others beyond that point unless you like main characters being killed off and HEA's fucked with. Nope. Not me.

This book is EPIC and will break you in all the right ways… several times over. Have your tissues ready but also be ready to laugh! The antics that these characters get up to is hilarious.

I loved Carter from the youngest of age to his current obsession with Kallie! But the progression to the end is one YOU MUST READ!!!! If you loved Cain and Abel, you will definitely want to read about Kallie and Carter!

I don’t read series where the main characters are killed off. That’s my hard line. This book kills off the heroine of Book 1 as well as one of the children from the main characters of Book 2.

My… my feels!!

Firstly, it was a rollercoaster ride, between the spooky Halloweeny vibes, the serials, the MMC with a bit of a hero, mixed with morally grey, and then add in a forbidden love aspect, I was intrigued!

Kallie - she doesn’t back down from a challenge, and certainly when one is dead to her heart.
Over exploring all her sides and to see her adapt to circumstance, change, and error in trial.

Carter - my man, I was fangirling so hard over this guy, when you read the book, you’ll learn why.
A perfect blend of everything you want!

Cain - You sort of stole the show on a couple of occasions, and I’m not even upset about that!
His story is so… just read the book!!! And he has his own too.

Thank you for the laughs, the scares & the tears.
It had everything you want in a book about morally grey characters, mingling with them regular folk.

Beautifully Twisted

How can someone make you cry and manage to write one of the darkest twisted books I’ve seen from her to date?!?

This book, ahh. It’s so much to unpack. We see Cain, Kirby and their daughter Kallie.

I can’t write too much in this review without spoilers. I will say I’m writing this review with tear filled eyes from the final chapter.

Things are going to happen that drastically effect the course of the lives of our characters. We also meet Carter, who is technically Kirby’s family but not blood relation. He’s only a few years older than Kallie and comes to live with Cain and Kirby for reasons. So he and Kallie grow up together. He belongs to her and she belongs to him.

Read your trigger warnings and just go read this book!

With this book I’m not sure how I want to approach the author. Do I want to congratulate her for another great book? Or do I want to shake her for making me cry????

After you read it you be the judge.

Kallie is definitely her parents’ biproduct. No doubt about it. And you’ll love her for it. Carter is the good guy: yes sounds weird but for some reasons these two polar opposites work and you’ll fall in love with their story.

Be prepared is all I can say.

Oh lord I only hope I can do this review justice. I’m a sucker for serial killer romance, what can I say. I love Cain & Kirby. BUT reading Kallie’s story, I enjoyed watching them go through the emotionless, and loving way they raise Kallie & Carter. I mean Cain is a psychopath and Kirby’s captor. For Kallie & Carter it was definitely not your typical childhood, or even close to the typical family, but I loved every dark page of it! This world expanding to include the second generation of Cain and Abel and a few others had me on the edge of my seat, needing more!! I could not put this book down. Heed the trigger warnings! The relationship between Kallie and Carter will have you glued to the book, turning pages quickly! Oohhh the things a sociopath will do for their soulmate! *sigh*

There are definitely some unexpected twists and turns that shook me and my emotions up. Yup, tears were cried, so make sure to have tissues nearby. This book will be living rent free in my mind for sometime I’m sure. As it still plays like a movie when I think about it. If you love dark, twisted romance with psychopaths and sociopaths, you need this book in your life!! If you’ve read Cain and loved it, you HAVE to read Kallie’s story! I promise you won’t regret it, but again heed the trigger warnings.

Oh man was this everything I knew it would be and more. If you read Unhinged Cain then you won’t want to miss getting your hands on this as it's about his daughter Kallie. This little girl may have devil in her but she also has feeling's and if you hurt anyone in her family you best be looking over your shoulder. This book was so freaking good I couldn't stop reading it once I got started. I'm not giving anything away I believe in going in blind, because you get the full experience of the story and believe me there is plenty of thing's happening in here. I don't think I'm going to be forgetting this book for a minute.

Check the TW's because this book won't be for everyone.

utterly heartbroken

I am DISTRAIGHT over Kirby. Like how could you do this to me?! 😭😭😭😭😭 and Troy! Ugh. My overly emotional heart could barely take this one, it made me so sad.

I love Kallie and Carter though so that was wonderful and I was very pleased with their story line.

BUT REALLY… KIRBY?! 😭😩

Prepare the tissues!

For anyone who has read Unhinged Cain and Twisted Abel, you need to read this follow up series! That said, I think it will be helpful to read those two in order to understand the depth of the relationship between Cain and Kirby (and how Aspen can’t help but love the antics of Abel). And then how this next generation takes after their parents. But also as a warning, if you’ve read and fell in love with these two couples, there are some moments that might have you reaching for a tissue box.

Kallie is Kirby and Cain’s daughter. She has a mix of her parents plus her uncle in her, as she has a drive to give an eye for an eye but is a burst of heart and emotion. She dares to go for what she wants and will not back down from a challenge. While she might feel displaced at times throughout the book and wonders how she fits among her family members, she will also defend her family at all costs. She can be creative and resourceful.

Carter was living with Kirby’s parents when they are killed in a car accident and Kirby takes him in. While he does not condone what happens under Cain and Abel’s roof, he is also fiercely protective of the family and understands what and why they do what they do. He is also very talented with technology and is an aspiring baseball player. He has a good heart, and is much like Kirby in her sense of morality. He has a good head on his shoulders and will do what he can to help.

Kallie and Carter are soul mates from day one. Having grown up together, they understand each other well, and while they have a slow burn romance here with a bit of mutual pining and angst, they inherently know since the start that they are each other’s end game. They look out for one another and feel the most like themselves around each other. They never judge the other’s actions even if they might push each other’s buttons and they prove they would do anything to make the other safe and happy. Kallie and Carter can also easily read each other’s expression and body language and know what something is up. They are definitely a OTP that have you cheering.

Moreover, as mentioned previously, this book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, and some reviewers rightfully say some moments might tear at you. There will also be moments where you laugh with the characters and smile at endearing moments. There are times when you might get angry and then later feel satisfaction. And while this book will leave you on a bittersweet note, it is definitely one you’ll be thinking about long after it ends. Additionally, even though this is Kallie and Carter’s story, this is also very much a continuation of Cain and Kirby’s story as well. We also see hints of Talon and Bo’s story, and I wonder if we’ll learn more about Troy. There are plenty of twists and unexpected turns, and this book keeps you at the edge of your seat. There are plenty of graphic moments like in its predecessors, so please heed trigger warnings if you haven’t read those and are new to this series.

Overall, this was an engaging read and I cannot wait to read Talon’s story next.

Give me a second I just finished the book.
Good god women , are you kidding me.
I hate you so much for making me cry! I am so mad at you for what happened to Kirby , troy . Jesus I am I. Shock , well played , well played . Hats off to the itty bitty parts committee 😂😂😂😂Daryl.
This books was so good damn good I can’t even explain it!

Ok charter and kallie relationship was so damn good watching them grow , watching them literally be a mini version of Cain and Kirby made my heart melt .

Cain is still sexy as sin my god how calm and sexy he can still be in this book is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
I am so glad Kirby got her wish , as she said to Daryl he will come for you, and thank god he did .

Watching Cain and his daughter was soooo much fun , he knew her knew her every move what she was thinking and really understood her , letting her grow into the killer she was but from afar and then helping her cleanup and learn from her mistakes .
I loved that…

This book is a must read my god … bravo

Unhinged Kallie is **technically** the third book in the Buchanan Brothers series. While this is also **technically** a standalone, it's highly recommended that you read Unhinged Cain beforehand, as Kallie is Cain and Kirby's daughter.

You have:
*OTT J/P/Protective
*Strong, Bad@$$ FMC
*Mürdər and Mayhem
*V!rg. h
*Step...ish brother
*Family Saga
*Stalker
*Revenge
*Friends to Lovers
*Stalking
*fun k!nk$
*Dub-con
*Dark humor

Soooo, all I can say is Wooooow!!! I HIGHLY recommend that you go in blind. However, if you need to read the triggers/content page, please do so, as there's so many things. It took me a while to process this story but all I can say is Kallie & Carter were legit FIRE!!! jeezus I cannot tell you how obsessed I am with this series. Although, I felt that this really wrapped up the series wonderfully, I would be soooo freaking excited if there was more to this series! It's just THAT good!!

Wow!!!!!! I knew after reading Unhinged Cain and Twisted Abel, Unhinged Kallie was not going to disappoint ! This is one of my favorite reads for this year so far. I laughed, cried, and laughed some more. The emotional rollercoaster this book brought is just well thought out, the author knew what she was doing to us! Unhinged Kallie reintroduced us again to Cain and Kirby's lives after falling in love; then we meet Kallie and Carter and the whole Buchanan serial killer family. Great character developments. This book delved into everyone's different personalities individually. I like how everyone was able to tell their story from their own POV's. Love how morally grey the characters are and their mission. I can't wait for Twisted Talon by T.L Hodel, the 4th book to this "duet" .

What?!?! How?!?! I was mentally unprepared for “unhinged Kallie.”

I adore Brooklyn cross and her amazing dark romances, but “unhinged kallie.” Was so much more than that.

I would strongly recommend that you read “unhinged cain.” Before reading “unhinged kallie.” You’ll see why when you read it.

I was immediately consumed with this fantastic story. I just could not stop reading it till I devoured the entire book. Not only is it a fantastic dark romance but there are some parts in the story that will have you bawling like I baby. I would advise you to keep some Kleenex handy.

Carter and Kallie’s relationship was out of this world. Carter was kallies calm to her storm. He was the perfect balance she needed. I absolutely adored these two.

Unhinged Kallie was an absolutely phenomenal story that you will keep with you for a long time coming and I can’t recommend it enough.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Wow…Brooklyn you did it again! I loved Unhinged Cain yet Unhinged Kallie was on another level! I honestly didn’t know what to expect with this book. I can tell you what a f*cking rollercoaster of emotions it was for me!
I laughed, I cried, & I was happy. It was not in that order either..lol. I was pretty much bipolar with my emotions. The story was so good. Unexpected events that happen, which I didn’t see coming! I was flipping pages left and right, and reading every moment I could. Kallie and Carter are a perfect resemblance of Cain and Kirby. This book had so much character growth, and I was here for it. Cain at the end when he finally said them words to Kallie “Angel, I will be fine, and…I do love you”🖤 I was in a Aww moment. Let’s not forget their Family motto “No one hurts our family, no one”I just loved it. I Definitely recommend this book! 5⭐️ 4🌶️

When I read Unhinged Cain, I was sure Brooklyn had made a masterpiece and nothing could top it, and when she announced Unhinged Kallie, I was ready for her to prove me wrong, and she did! The beginning and end of this book had me bawling like a little girl. Cain is still such a trip to read in POV form, but his daughter is even more fun and sinister. I felt a bit bad for poor Carter, but he proved that he was not one to be pitied. I love we get glimpses of Abel and his family as well. Kallie is so different from her father, but it also very similar. Her need to prove herself got her in trouble from time to time, but I feel it all helped her grow into a better version of herself. The relationship between her and Carter was everything and more.

Well hell, that was everything I did not know I needed and more. The emotion in this story about literal psychopaths and their lack of emotions was perfect. Heart break, falling in love, lots and lots of detailed murder, and the spice.....oh yesssss.....what an epic ride of pure insanity! Taking a step back into Cain and Kirbys world was nice even though it was not how I expected it to be. I loved the character building of Kallie and Carter. I cannot wait to read about the other characters that were introduced as well. Could not put this down! Love this crazy work of killers !!!

Wow!! I’m speechless

I loved every second of kallie’s unhinged, deliciously dark, angsty story.

Diving back in the world of the Buchanan brothers was epic!

Off the charts, just how I like it. This is everything I was looking for and more. I was kept on the edge of my seat turning pages. Once I entered there was no turning back. It was a perfect read for this time of year.

I need to take Cain’s rules more seriously….

Cain’s Rules;

#1 – “Rule number one, never panic.”
#2 – “Rule number two, never make a decision when you’re angry.”
#3 – “Rule number three, always be prepared for anything.”

4⭐️I need to take Cain’s rules more seriously as I panicked, got angry and sent angry messages to Brooklyn and was not prepared for anything in this book! Arghhh! This read was such an adventure.
It started off mega spicy and with some old favourites which I really enjoyed. It felt like seeing old friends again. Then a few chapters in, Brooklyn broke my heart and didn’t stop squeezing it until the epilogue finale, which I don’t recommend reading in your lunch break if you don’t want to cry in front of co-workers just FYI.

Emotional maelstrom aside; where is the sign up form for the School of Cain? I’d like to submit my enrolment. Do I need my parents signature or what? I loved this next generation story. Kallie was the perfect blend of Cain and Abel traits. I really enjoyed her feistiness, her assuredness and unforgiving way she just is who she is and never let others influence her style. #personalgrowth
Carter was the cutest puppy dog cinnamon roll character ever. He was a lovely balance for Kallie and a really sweet addition to the crew.

The pacing was a great, really gentle introduction into the next gen characters which I loved. It felt like I was watching them grow up in real time which was really cool. It’s like baby assassin school at times and it was exquisite to watch them follow each other. It was hilarious to watch them constantly scaring and freaking each other out. I was chuckling so hard at times and could envision this perfectly in my head.

Note to self don’t upset Brooklyn Cross. She comes up with the best revenge plans. Loved this read!
