A sweet, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers equestrian romance.
Maya’s day to day life is full of ‘good enough’s, but she wants her show series at Pine Mountain to be something special—something she can be proud of. When her first day begins with Reid Nash storming in and blaming her for lost entries she’s rattled. Maybe she’s in over her head, but she’s not about to let arrogant trainers walk all over her.
Reid needs this series to help build his training program. His horses and students mean everything to him. Making a name for himself would bring in more clients and allow him to hire help and take a day off every now and then. That’s if the disorganized woman running the show can get her act together. As the series continues, it becomes clear that first impressions can be Maya wants her show to help the equestrian community, and Reid is a true horseman. Joining forces may be the best way to reach their goals. But could it also be the secret to both of them finding more than they dreamed of?
I received this book for free as an ARC reader, but the thoughts and this review is transparent! I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I haven't read a book with the setting revolving around horses. This was a clean read, in my opinion and I would recommend this to anyone looking for an equestrian romance.
Maya is determined to make her winter horse show series into something special. When horse trainer Reid comes trampling in to complain, she treats him with cool professionalism. But can she stay cool once she gets to know his softer side?
I love to read about characters---both female and male---who know what they want and work hard to get it despite obstacles getting in their way. I especially love all the horsy details in this book. Even though I'm not a horsy person, I loved the excitement of the show jumping and all the idiosyncrasies of the various horses. It is obvious that the author has great love for the sport and for the horses, just like her main characters.
Authentic equestrian details are a trademark of all Isla Ryder’s books, and this new one is no different. The perfect read for everyone who loves horses.
Really enjoyable equestrian romance. Maya and Reid are interesting characters and it was easy to become invested in their relationship. The show details were good and kept the story moving along at a good pace.
Will definitely look out for more books by Isla Ryder.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love how both these characters are not looking for love but find it in the end. These books are great as I don't know much about showing and jumping horses. In each book I learned so much more and I really enjoy these books because of that fact.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Although I know little about caring for or riding horses, I enjoyed this book. The author did a good job with character development, and the story flowed well. It was refreshing to read a romance book that contained no sex and just brief mentions of kissing. Overall, it's a nice read.
I appreciated this clean and easy read. Nothing profound and just what one needs to unwind after a hectic day. I wish there was just a bit more horse training details, but then again - this book was not intended to be a pony club manual. I definitely recommend.
A very fine read. I love reading a good story around horses, and this was a good one, In a very long line of books I've read (I'm 81 and read 3-4 books a week), I don't recall a lead character who manages and runs shows. Enjoyed this book, and have already downloaded another from this talented author.
I had not read an equestrian romance before this one, and I found it a lovely, easy-to-read introduction into the world. It's obvious even to a newbie that the author has great love for horses, and that that love has translated well into her characters. Great read for anyone who loves horses.
"Hassling the Show Manager" by Isla Ryder brings the world of horse eventing to life, highlighting the challenges and love found in this sport. The story follows Maya, the show manager, and Reid, a participant, showing how the sport demands dedication and passion despite the financial struggles it brings.
The book beautifully portrays the bond between humans and horses, emphasizing the sacrifices made by those who truly love this sport. Amidst the competitions, there's a sweet romance between Maya and Reid that adds warmth to the tale.
Ryder's storytelling captures the excitement of equestrian events and the hard work behind the scenes. It's a touching read that highlights the dedication of those in the equestrian world, making it perfect for anyone who loves stories about horses and heartfelt connections.
