Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. Published at the tender age of eight, in Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, she joined a Writers’ Circle as an adult, publishing short stories, articles, etc; only turning to novels in 1971 because the postal strike cut off her main source of income! At first she wrote under several different names – Judith Saxton, Judy Turner, Lydia Balmain, Judith Arden – but her Katie Flynn books were a delight to write and proved far more popular than she had dreamed. She has now published nearly ninety novels, twenty-seven of which are Flynns. Her most recent titles are: Lost Days of Summer and Christmas Wishes.
the story is about the hard life of a mother and her daugher struggling to survive alone, and adapt to two levels of living , from easy rich to hard poor life . however the story may interest more the girls .
This story is convincingly set in a working class English neighborhood in the 1920's. While the author has a sure sense of human nature in general, the children are in some ways drawn most deftly.
This book is one of the best books that Katie Flynn has written. Poor Emmy went through so much in her life, being happy when she married Peter and giving birth to her daughter. Then being sad when her husband died and ended up nearly losing her own life, then along comes Mr Right and made her happy again. Excellent read.
Sorry to have finished the last page of this engrossing story. Loved the characters, the general pictures painted by the author in words. Highly recommend this book
Very enjoyable read Real friends and family that stick together through thick and thin. Back to were she grew up learns to live again and work hard until illness
