But the new family they create together will be tested to its limits by a mysterious group who will stop at nothing to steal their new home out from under them...
Silver Chimera is a slow-burn, fated mates shifter romance featuring a mature hero and heroine finding love and family later in life. No cliffhangers!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
I was hoping there would be more silver shifters. I love seeing mature women over 50 being treated like the Goddesses we are. And the silver foxes (or dragons, or bears, or chimeras) are heart pounding gorgeous and kind and smart men. There is a bit of suspense in these books, this one included. My only issue is, why are the bad guys not punished adequately? That is the only disappointment for me in the storyline.
Some are better than others. This was a good story but with the exception of one or two chapters it lacked …er uh… excitement! Angst. It lacked a Zoe Chant personality. This felt like a new ghost writer, one that is inexperienced or doesn’t quite live up to the other Zoe Chant writers. It’s a perfectly fine story. But it fell short of expectations. It’s not Defenders or protection Inc. Zoe or Shifting Sands Zoe. Honestly it didn’t hold my attention and while the story was good I kept waiting for something to happen! And when it finally did it was ended so quickly. Sigh! ?? It had such potential, but never really went anywhere Happily ever after. That “BAD DRAGON” by the description …. Sounded more like a human or Mage who murdered a dragon skinned it and fashioned its hide into a coat he uses to turn into a dragon. The shift wasn’t natural and the persona did not fit. Nor did he sound like a real dragon shifter. And the real estate agent and those guys who “get away” with committing a serious crime … I’m sorry. It did not feel like that should have been allowed.. and the EX.. the whole book led up to this and then…. Poof nothing it’s over gloss over the plot and thrill and then moves. To get to the happily ever after .. I’m sorry but this book really fell short of Zoe Chant Expectations and hype. This book needs to be redone. Lose the filler focus on the excitement flesh that out . Bad guys get there comeuppance. Closure is made. The critters in the garden are fleshed out more and then and only then . HEA the end ..
I have said it before, but it bares repeating; Zoe(s) Chant create worlds that I wish I l could live in. Silver Chimera was the first of the Silver Shifters books that I had read. Somehow, I missed the previous books. I never felt lost as she gives plenty of background information on the other characters and events. Both the hero (Alejo) and heroine (Wendy) were relatable and warm characters. I loved how they blended their families and how patient and supportive Alejo was in coaxing an understandably reluctant Wendy into friendship and then more. The slow-burn was not agonizing as some are because of the way the both of them relate to their children and the team they became almost immediately. I especially loved that the characters are both over fifty and how Wendy slowly overcame her self-worth issues with the support of the very lovable Alejo. (Relatable much?!) This was a sweet and heartwarming story, and I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing that Wendy’s ex has an anvil fall on his rotten head! Besides the very sweet love story, we have suspense from some bad guys, with appearances from some of the characters from the previous series (which I binged immediately after finishing Silver Chimera!). I very much hope that we’ll see more in this series, and learn more about the mysteries in the garden as well as some of the other characters we were introduced to. Well done!
Great introduction to a new series based on the original Silver Shifters series!
Wendy is living in Godiva's house when she meets Alejo, Godiva's son. Alejo is a chimera and instantly realizes that Wendy is his mate, but she is so gun-shy from her ex-husband, that she can't even imagine that he can be interested. Then there is her super shy son Sam. His father is not sympathetic to his quirks. Wendy has to do all she can to shelter him. Can Alejo win her and Sam over? What will happen when a surprise from his past is added into the mix? Read this to see. I would read (or reread) the Silver Shifters series in order before reading this story. It is especially nice to read about older people who find love. I canNOT wait to see what happens in the next book!
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. It is great to see the characters from the Silver Shifters series in here as well. Enjoy this fun, sweet shifter romance.
I loved this story about a shifter finding his mate. Wendy is a divorcee trying to make it on her own with her son Sam. Her ex is a real piece of work. Wendy works in a bakery and acts as caretaker for Godiva while Godiva is away. She drives a car that's so old her mechanic shivers when she drives it in for repairs. She's an aspiring writer but she's been stuck in the book she's been trying to write for some time. Enter Alejo, Godiva's son. He's a mythical shifter, - a chimera - with two beasts. One is a flying lion and the other a flying serpent. And Wendy is his mate. There's also a secret in the vast garden of Godiva's estate where Sam has friends that his mom believes are imaginary, but are they?
With several characters from Zoe Chant's Silver Shifters series, this story has a feeling of familiarity that was most welcome. The story was well written and flowed smoothly. I found myself sucked in from beginning to end.
Wendy, Sam, Oriane, and Alejo Made Four! 4.5***** Spoiler Alert
Battling low self esteem from her mentally and verbal abusive ex-Bill Ch, Wendy Poulet ( chicken in Fr), a writer, and donut shop employee, met Alejo, a silver chimera and son of Godiva, her landlord. He gave her back strength to pursue her writing to get a movie series in production and rescued her from the bronze Dragon that kidnapped Sam, her son, so he could take her beach house from her. Mikahil, Joey Hu, Oriane- Alejo's newly discovered shifter daughter, a newly turned shimurgh, and Alejo all helped to battle the bully of the bronze dragon. HEA as they we'd with Godiva home, and all joined to make this nuptials memorable! Her ex-Bill jealous of her, Wendy's, success left the writer's group and started dating poor, unemployed, con-artist, K'thryn Nobett, the realtor. A Gravity defying Read!!

Zoe Chant's Silver Shifters series focused on mature protagonists finding their perfect shifter mates, with some action for spice. All the ladies were writers and best friends. This sequel introduces a new mature writer, who wasn't in the group. Some characters from the last series make cameos, but you don't have to have read that series to enjoy this one.
Most of the conflict in this book is internal to Wendy. She has a lot of baggage she's been carrying around, and a handsome guy wanting to take care of her seems too good to be true, even if he is Godiva's son. There's a little action at the end, so the shifters can show off.
I hope we see more of Godiva's mysterious garden inhabitants in future books!
This is probably my favourite of the Silver Shifters books. There's just something about the developing relationship between Alejo and Wendy that feels more natural, even with the mate bond in place. Plus, watching both Sam and Orianne slowly open up and become part of the found family (in this case, a literal one) was a treat.
And there are a few different plot lines going on too, each of which wraps up to a satisfying ending. I've said before that because there are so many Zoe Chant writers, the quality can be immensely variable, depending on who's written a given book. Overall, I think this series has been one of my top five favourites - perhaps just behind the Virtue Shifters, and Shifting Sands sets, and I definitely hope we end up getting more books set in this world.
This book was great! I wished for Wendy's story way back when she was introduced in this series...or rather where her ex-husband was introduced. (I hated the character like I was supposed to lol) But to get her story and Godiva's sons story together was extra frosting on the cake! I absolutely loved this series and just days before I found this one I had been thinking about when a new book in this series would be out. This book on its own was all sweet and endearing as most true love stories are but this one had the added trauma of poor Wendy's experiences with her ex-husband. I didn't stop reading until I finished the book! So so SO very good 😍🥰🤩
Great characters and a great start to the new series
Easily read as a standalone (I haven’t read the previous Silver Shifters series and never felt the least bit lost), I loved these characters and this story. I found Wendy extremely relatable and loved how very much NOT an a-hole Alejo was. These were characters I could and did cheer for, with plenty of interesting secondary characters (some from that first series) as well. A lovely and entertaining story with a very sweet and satisfying ending.
I really enjoyed the story. I love how Sam got all chatty once he shared a secret with dad. I got to Chapter 9 and a bright light shined on me as I felt like friends were visiting. All the sudden the names of some of the people became familiar because they were in another series I had read. It just made me happy to see them in this story. I really enjoyed the story but think they kidnappers should have been arrested. Godiva finally got to be a granny to 2 kids. It was so nice for her dream to come true.
This book is so much fun to read. Wendy has been emotionally abused by her ex-husband. Unfortunately she has to deal with her idiot ex because they share a son. Sam knows his real father is a very bad dad but after meeting Alejo, who falls in love with his mom, Sam knows he has someone he can look up to. Alejo loves Sam. Then a big surprise happens. Alejo finds out he has a 13 year old daughter who is coming to live with him. So much fun and excitement in this wonderful book. Definitely worth reading.
This is the first book in the sin off series from Zoe Chant's Silver Shifters but you don't have to have read that series to enjoy this one ( I do recommend you do if you haven't become they are very good ). Being a woman in her fifties I really appreciate having older main characters. This story had me hooked start to finish. I absolutely loved Wendy and Alejo together and son Sam is adorable. The story is very entertaining and I could see what other characters might be used for more stories and I absolutely do hope we get more
took a star off for using the horrible term “mansplaining” and the lazy roommates
First, I love the author. But- 2 things really bugged me. Using the insulting term “mansplaining”. Ugh!!! Second is the 2 lazy roommates that don’t contribute anything to either the story nor to the house upkeep. What a pair of free loaders! They could easily be left out of the story and it would have been an improvement. Couldn’t one even cook a meal?
While I love this author's other books, this one was disappointing. There were words that didn't make sense. Even after I looked them up, the sentences in which they were used didn't make any sense. There were sentences that were missing words. Finally, a couple of the paragraphs disagreed with what was going on in previous paragraphs. You can't get out of a car after you're already out. It was just a mess. This author is good, but this one is just not.
I loved this read! I really do enjoy good strong characters, but with a true sense of compassion and protectiveness. These books take me a familiar yet different world. Still with selfish and sometimes evil beings but the goodness always comes through. I do not know where Zoe Chant finds her characters but she is amazing in her worlds. Thank you helping to take me to those fabulous places.
Great story! This is a nice, sweet shifter story that has great characters and a good storyline! Really enjoyed seeing the characters in real life, situations and not just shifter problems! Of course, it is a book about different shifters so you don't completely lose that. And of course a HEA waiting in the wings! Loved it!
Wendy, who is a single mother in her early 59’s works hard, judd as t to stay afloat. Enter Godiva’s don and the shifter magic becomes into another sweet story with hopefully more to come for those of us who are facing the more silver/grey part of our lives.
Even though this is part of the Silver Shifters series, it easily stands alone. The characters are well developed and endearing. Older, mature, battered by life and so realistic. Plenty of laughter, lots of gentle love. it's a HEA that draws a lot of smiles and needs a tissue of two for a few happy tears.
I loved this series from the first book I read in it. I was sucked in so hard that this is the first review that I have posted. I went through these books like I was a kid and these books were holloween candy. Can't wait for the next one. They make me smile whenever I read any of her books.
I felt this story at a soul deep level! Zoe captured every essence of Wendy's life perfectly. How even the very best and strongest and most independent gun shy once bitten people still crave a mate at that soul deep level...and how we all deserve our own HEAs!
First in new series regarding silver shifters and I loved it. It was hard to put down, want to see what would happen next. Love the two main characters getting to know each other, getting rid of the bad stuff and in believing themselves. Love the kids too! Great storyline and I'm looking forward to the next book.
Zoe, I love all your shifter books. Keep writing girl!!!
This was just as I hoped it would be. Full of mystery, love and intrigue. I hope it continues. I enjoy reading these books. I already read the first series with GodIva's friends, and I really enjoyed them. I could literally feel the story unfold through the words. Just like this book (Silver Chimera).
Silver Chimera (Silver Shifters: Godiva's House Bk.1)
This was an intriguing story, about morals, family, and friendships. Wendy is trying to raise her young son, while fighting for her own rights. Throw in a handsome man, a young girl facing puberty, a young boy with secrets, and you have a story that leads you down some interesting paths.
Loved the emotions and true feelings of each individual character and how they coped with the ever changing story plot full of thrills, suspense, action, heart stopping fright and even a little bit of laughter.. A definite good read.
I am always so wonderfully overwhelmed by fantasy novels. I especially love shifter novels; especially those with happy endings. Zoe Chant has again accomplished another miracle of specially grouped characters that are so together and entertaining.
If you haven’t read other Zoe books, you should. This one is special—growing older, making a new family, new shifters and, of course some Baddies for spice. Some laughs, lots of smiles and in spite of the HEA, I had to use a Kleenex.
What a wonderful way to come back and visit! Wendy and Sam, happy while learning to live as well as love. Enter Alejo, and others! Sit back and relax as this book takes you on a journey of love!
This book drew me in quicker than I thought it would. The love story is gentle and true, with two children, a bit of action, and discovering what love should truly mean, with respect, deference, and fidelity. Also mythical shifters!
I am never disappointed with a Zoe Chant book and this one did not fail Godiva is one of my favorite characters and reading about the children’s transformation was so much fun Sam was my new favorite
