Caleb sensed the warm naked body in bed next to him. He knew it was Chloe but what he couldn’t figure out was why. He’d grown up next door to her, had teased her relentlessly. And she’d hated him for it. Memories from last night of the curves she’d grown into had his mouth going dry. He’d had no words with which to tease, all he could do was moan.

Had Chloe actually had sex with a man she’d hated for a decade? A full percussion section was banging in Chloe’s head as the memories came to her in pieces—martinis, dancing, his hands, his hardness. God, he’d been solid male muscle. This can’t be happening. Hadn’t she made a commitment to herself to settle the score with Caleb if given the chance? Instead, she was right back where she was all those years ago, panting after him in all of his unobtainable glory.

Will their obvious sexual attraction be enough to cut through years of hate?

I lead a double life. By day I’m training young women to become speech therapists. At night I sip red wine, dial down all distractions, and sink into the fictional worlds I create. Good tunes on my iPod are a must. I get so caught up in my characters that I truly wish the male hero would materialize in the flesh; especially when I see the cover image…I swoon.

I have spent the past several years working as a university instructor. My students are young adult females so I’m constantly running plot lines and book covers by them. They make a great beta team! I love my job at the university but there is something I love even more. . . romance novels. I'll read any genre as long as there are steamy sex scenes and the standard issue HEA ending. Initially I was drawn in by the escape and sweeping emotion of it all, so much so, I began to create my own fictional world.

Since I worked during the day my nights were consumed with writing. I was powerless to stop the stories that wanted to be freed from my mind. I actually started to get mixed up. I would think something I wrote at night was something I had said during the working day and vice versa. My friends were worried for my sanity but I assured them I had not gone mad, I was just writing. Once I started I wrote upwards of 3,000 words per day.

It was in the early millennium when I became brave enough to share my stories with others. I began to post my stories on fiction websites and then something marvelous happened—I was followed by hundreds of eager readers. I loved my followers and their kind words helped motivate me.

These days I am writing books and I’ve learned some things about myself during the process. I like to write series novels because I have trouble letting go. I like a little plot with my romance, erotica, contemporary. Call it what you will, but I have to have a good story in which to sink my teeth. If I start writing a story I have to finish it, even if it’s terrible.

My dog is my muse and when he tilts his forehead at me and blinks his large black eyes questioningly at me, I think he is worried I've been sucked into the wormhole of the very fiction that I write. I appreciate his concern but I have yet to fall down the rabbit hole. Here's to everyone else in my boat, may our voyage become a permanent destination.

Series – St. Martin Family Saga #1-5
Author – Gina Watson
Publication Date – December 6, 2013
Type – Novella Romance
Genre – Stand Alone Series
Overall Rating – 4 out of 5 Stars

Book - Score (St. Martin Family Saga #1)
Rating – 3 out of 5 Stars

Cal and Chloe’s story – Cal and Chloe have been next door neighbors since childhood.  Chloe has had a crush on Cal but he does nothing but torture and bullies her while growing up.

Once in college, Cal turns into a “man-whore” and Chloe goes her own way until one day they are all in Las Vegas to support Cal’s brother in a poker tournament.  Chloe has too much to drink – Cal bets his brothers that he can boink Chloe that night.

Chloe wakes up the next morning next to Cal and has a shit fit – he is the last person she expected to have sex with but days later, Cal is still thinking about Chloe and realizes that the reason why he picked on her so bad was because he didn’t know how to handle his emotions about how much he really liked her.

They go through a few traumatic experiences in their relationship and continue to try to make things work especially since things are so powerful in the bedroom between them.

OK story, hot sex, fast read but in some ways – too fast.  There wasn’t enough back story and there wasn’t much climatic periods during the parts which were supposed to be the angst in the story.  Too easily forgiven – too fast to forget – too quick to end.  I would have liked to have read more about Cal and Chloe in the present and in the past.

Book - Shameless (St. Martin Family Saga #2)
Rating – 3 ½ out of 5 Stars

Cory and Brook’s story - Cory is the veterinarian in town and is also a “man-whore”.  He don’t care who he has sex with or where.  Brook brings her dog in to the clinic to be euthanized and Cory suddenly has a heart and takes Brook and her dog to his estate in order to be more comfortable and help Brook morn.

They get stuck in a thunderstorm and have mind-altering sex which neither of them can get out of their heads.  Cory finds ways to see Brook but by this time Brook is hooked – she knows Cory’s resolve about NO MARRIAGE, NO LOVE, NO CHILDREN.

She agrees to just sex between them without the relationship but Cory finds himself always at Brook’s without always wanting sex. Things progress between them until uh-oh an unseemly accident happens and Brook questions what will happen with her and Cory.

This story was a bit more intense than the first and seemed to have substance to it.  Yeah, there were times it was a bit over the top but all in all – it was a fast and enjoyable read.

Book - Shatter (St. Martin Family Saga #3)Rating – 4 out of 5 Stars

Logan and Jessica’s story.  Logan owns a brewery in town naming each of his concoctions after parts of the body which seems fitting since he is licensed to be a doctor.  He is looking to be a supplier of his brews to a local restaurant and that is how he meets Jessica.

Jessica owns an Italian Restaurant which she runs on her own as a widow and is raising a son.  On meeting, Jessica automatically takes a dislike to Logan with his carefree attitude and remembers that she has a boyfriend.  A boyfriend who she isn’t sexually attracted to but she needs a man for a good role model for her son.

Logan is the farthest in her mind as the perfect role model, but looks may be deceiving.  Logan loves Jessica and everything about her and her son, but he is battling demons of his own.  See, Logan isn’t a true St. Martin; he was adopted after his parents were murdered.

But again – I will repeat…looks may be deceiving.

I enjoyed this story much more than the first two – there was more of a storyline to this one and didn’t revolve around – let’s get naked – do the dirty – have second thoughts – fall in love – get married – live HEA.

Book - Suited (St. Martin Family Saga #4)
Rating – 4 out of 5 Stars

Cash and Isa’s story.  Cash is a professional gambler, covered in tattoos and the complete opposite from the rest of his family.  He always wanted his father’s approval but always seem like such a disappointment.  Cash agrees to return home after his twin, Camp, begs him for help with the business.

Camp sets up a business meeting for Cash with the engineer on-site knowing full well that it is Cash’s ex-girlfriend he will be meeting with.  Cash and Isa immediately feel the pull of each other without even seeing who it is on the other side of the door.

Isa is leery about starting up another relationship with Cash because of the past when he took off for close to 8 years without a word.  She was left broken-hearted and with other disasters and no one to help her pick up the pieces.

Read about Isa’s secrets from the past and Cash’s promises to be everything that Isa needs.  But at the first sign of trouble will Cash be able to keep his promise?

You can see how the author continues to get the stories more complex within the novella.  The words and meetings aren’t as hasty but there were times in this book that it seems a bit rushed.

Book - Smolder (St. Martin Family Saga #5)
Rating – 4 ½ out of 5 Stars

Camp and Jenny’s story.  Jenny is the designer to one of Camp’s new casinos and angry passion automatically spark between them.  Camp being divorced and currently engaged has never felt this strongly about another woman in his life.  He has a loveless girlfriend who acts more like his sister than a future wife.

Clay, Camp’s oldest brother, gives him a few pointers on how to ensnare Jenny into agreeing to try a relationship between the two of them.  What Camp doesn’t expect is how receptive Jenny is to these ploys where she can actually thrive on them.

Unfortunately for Camp, Jenny has other problems in her life that consume her emotions and time, but Camp won’t be easily swayed and vows to have Jenny by his side for life.

Out of the 5 stories, this one was my favorite because the story grew from the beginning to the end.  It wasn’t rushed and the characters developed throughout the story.

Overall Review

You can see how the author’s style is developing and growing through each of these books.  The first book doesn’t flow through chapters like the last one does.  The awesome thing about reading these books is that I feel like I have watched this author grow up through her writing.

There were a few inconsistencies from story to story but not noticeable enough to put anyone off from the general gist.

I did cringe when I read that “her pussy tasted like honey”….ummm NO….I know it’s probably used as a simile or a metaphor….but now when I put honey in my tea….I’m gonna be wondering if I’m drinking pussy juice!  Nah…J/K

Another one was “her nipples were as hard as steel”  that I would love to see…and again I know it’s an analogy and a figure of speech….but it made me giggle picturing her nipples turning into Madonna bullet cones!!

Overall, I had a great time with this series and the author has found a fan in me.  I love that the books were short novellas and full of some really steamy sex!!!

I’m wondering though….are there going to be books for Clay and the little sister??  I would love to read Clay’s story….a big hulking fireman who is into the “kink” sex clubs!!! Oh yeah….that’s my kind of story!!

Rounded up to 2 stars because I am just hypnotized with covers of this really badly written book/series...

For such a short read this woman cried so many times, sometimes on the floor and always fell asleep after crying, I thought I would cry because I cannot get that one hour of my life back.

"I want to stand next to you forever."

Score was just an okay quick read for me, Chloe and Cal were childhood neighbors that don't have any good memories to share with each other. Cal was a bully and took it out on Chloe marking her for the rest of her life. Once bet has the two sinning in Vegas only to be left wanting more. I think the only thing memorable thing I can think of for this one is the spot light they did on ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, it made it worth reading and brought a sense of realness to all the characters amidst their childish behavior.

It took me a while to finish this one..And it's onle 86 pages.
It's really nothing special..

After the first scene -which i loved- everything went south..
It's always fun to read a book that starts in Vegas, but i wish the smart comments wouldn't stop there..

I really found it lacking in character evolvement..
Those two know each other their whole lives, where are the stories??
Where is the past? Chloe repeats again and again that she hates him but she seems to forget it prety easily and Cal doesn't even know he was a bully to her.. Really?

The side story about Chloe's patient Steven was interesting but a bit too heavy sentimentaly for such a small book.. Anyway it had potentials and the end was satisfing.. BUT

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- Too rushed.
- Cal wasn't an asshole player, actually i liked him right away.
- It had some unnessecery drama..
- An easy read.
- I liked Cal's way of thinking.
- The bet was a good plotting device but poorly executed..

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. The sex was hot and part of the story will pull at your heart strings. I am very impressed with this authors first book. I like how this book was fast paced

Chloe has had feelings for Caleb since they were kids. Even though all he did was pick on her. Somehow in Vegas, they end up in bed together.
After their encounter Caleb has been drawn to Chloe. When they come together, sparks fly. They have no problem telling each other how they feel.

Their relationship isn't always rosy. Caleb confesses something that really hurts Chloe. Can she get past that confession and go back to Caleb? She feels that all Caleb has done in her life is hurt her.

I will definitely give this book a 5 star and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

A friend pointed me to the series and she talked so well about the characters that I could not resist and jumped several other books I should read to read this first.

Let me say I love family series. The greater the number of siblings, the greater my fascination.
When I read they were the first of 5 siblings, I was thrilled. But it seems I was wrong. There's one more.
I will definitely read all quickly.
I loved being presented to this author and I hope that her other books are coming soon.

This was a quick little read with very detailed scenes. I did cry at one point, but sadly it was forgettable and I don't remember why. Probably in the sweetness of picturing the videos, not only of Steve & his struggles, but of his love for Chloe as well. Although this was a pretty short book & I could have consumed it in one afternoon, it took me longer because I got bored at around 60% and started a different book. I did come back a couple days later and finish reading this story & am thankful I did because the ending is beautiful.

I give Score a 4! I loved the fast pace of the book... Short, sweet, and to the point! This makes it a great easy read after a day of work where anything that makes you think puts you to sleep; however, I would like a little more soft to compliment the "hard" moments.

It will awaken you senses and makes you think your Caleb might just be out there! Hmmm... Maybe he is! I do live in Louisiana lol

I loved this story about the St Martin family. This is the first book in the series. Caleb tortured Chloe when they were kids. now, that they are grown, can he convince her otherwise.

this is such a great read and I cant wait to find out more about the other books.

A sweet story where love overcame the past. Love was actually present all along, but it was uncovered and built on. A quick read with dripping sweet tenderness and some hot sex.

It's nice, but too smooth. They make mistakes and have to work to correct it, but it's just too easy...
The characters are likable, the setting nice, and I guess that's the defining word. Everything is just nice.

First, let me say I was given this series for my honest thoughts and that is what you will get. Another thing is this is a short story, so I will try not to give too much away as it is a short book… but just be prepared for what you read. And lastly, this series takes place in my home state so be primed for me to give big shouts out for that as well… Hey, what can I say ~ you gotta Love those Bayou Boys!!!

Ms. Gina crafted a story within sixty pages that is very well worth the read. Her writing style is very exhilarating and she will make sure you stay with her the whole time the story unfolds in your hands. She will poison your mind with the elixirs that make these characters sticky sweet and satisfy a sweet tooth you were not aware you had. She developed a story and all the backdrops needed in a short time frame and I applaud her for that. She did a fabulous job of keeping the story juicy enough to keep me up until I finished this story (in one night, yes!)

This one man that turns her world upside down haunts Chloe’s dreams and she is not even sure he knows it. She gets hot at the simple thought of him and probably could be putty in his hands but instead he seems hell bent on making her life miserable. The things he does to her reminds her of the childish things he use to do to her when they were kids… but the problem with this is – they are not kids anymore. They are grown (in his case, definitely grown!!!) mature adults, or so Chloe thought. She finds herself in a situation where dreams do come true and people do grow up… but then she finds out the ugly truth of what truly happened that fateful night they found themselves in bed with each other… Will Chloe be able to overcome the past and look beyond those childish games or will her head keep bringing up the past and ruin what could be a wonderful future? One could say, only time would tell… but the problem with that is, sometimes time is not on your side…

Caleb would like to think that he has grown into a respectable man but respectable men don’t make bets they can land someone in the sack…. Not nice Caleb. But what he does not realize is the one woman that has etched herself in his heart and soul could be the one woman that could cut his soul to shreds. Caleb isn’t lacking for anything or anyone for that matter, but he is going through life like some go through a pack of gum… with no feeling or emotion. That is until he runs into Chloe, again. He knows she makes him all hot and bothered but he is hell bent on making her see that he is not the little boy or young man that picked on her all the time. He wants to right his wrongs and he knows how… or at least he thought he knew. How can you win the heart of someone who always remembers the past instead of focusing on the future?

These two make a hell’va couple. They have you at every turn possible thinking one minute

Hell, I almost thought the story wrapped up earlier than it did, then Ms. Watson threw in a wrench and twisted my damn world all up and got me all riled up and pissed off and then she made me go aweeeee… Gina did an awesome job at bringing out the desire and emotions for these two. But she did something even better than that; she introduced us to the St. Martin family without compromising the story of Caleb and Chloe. She welcomed us in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and it was nice to be back home for a change… This story captivated the raw edge of death and life and putting things in prospective. She showed us through Caleb and Chloe that letting go of the past is very important in order to move on with the future!

Ms. Gina, I truly loved this story and cannot wait to read the next one… Which, I am starting now… See you in a bit guys…. Ohhh and before I forget… the heat level of this story, even though this is a short story… be prepared for some very hot sexy scenes!!!

This is my first book by this author and so I am pleasantly surprised to find that I have once again picked someone who speaks to me. This was a story with more than just a heat level, it had a social conscious as well and used it to perfection. When you can educate and entertain in one forum I am all for it, as long as the balance is maintained well. The characters are realistic and full of life, making them more accessible as someone you might know or be willing to hang with in your world as well as theirs.

Chloe Mills has loved/hated Caleb St. Martin since they were children and he treated her so badly with all his tricks and barbs. The last person she would expect to hook-up with would be him, even after a drunken night in Vegas, but never say never. Chloe wakes up after a night out in a seedy motel with the neighbor from hell naked next to her, and she cannot seem to remember how they got there.

Caleb/Cal has known Chloe all their lives and knows exactly how she feels about him, and she has good reason. He does not feel bad about their night together and has changed from the boy who tormented her into a man who may want to have a life with her. The problem is she has not forgotten his cruelty and may never forgive him for his boyhood stupidity.

This starts the stories of the St. Martin brothers who are gorgeous, hot, alpha males who have more women then they can handle, then the one walks into their lives. Loved this because it was also about raising awareness on ALS, a disease that does not always get enough of the spotlight. But do not think it was not also a very hot and sexy read. I would take any one of these brothers at the drop of a hat! Definitely worth the time.

My timing is impeccable, given the ALS ice bucket challenge that's happening right now.

This is a short story that felt like it started in the middle of their relationship or friendship or whatever they were before they slept together, and it's not entirely clear to me what that was.

Chloe and Caleb have apparently grown up together and he relentlessly teased and bullied her growing up, but yet she always loved him despite this. For some reason as adults they end up in Vegas and they end up sleeping together which begins as a bet for him yet ends in a romantic relationship and him finally figuring out his feelings. She's a speech pathologist who's helping a friend with ALS communicate better with his family before he dies. As an aspiring filmmaker, Cal agrees to put together a video for the family, but then turns it into a documentary which Chloe thinks may be exploitative, especially given her past with Cal.

This story was rushed in the wrong parts and there was not enough meat here to understand what's going on with Cal's other brothers (who are the subjects of the next books in the series) or even with Cal. The POVs felt like they were unfocused.

There's also a scene where he films them making love and despite the honest outcome, I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with that.

If the other books are like this then I won't be buying them.

Score is the first book in the St. Martin Family Saga. I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it as much as I loved Ms. Watson's Emergency Responders Trilogy. It's a short novella, and maybe that's the reason why I wasn't able to connect with Cal and Chloe. I wasn't really invested in their story. In fact, I don't care what will happen to them.

There were only two things that kept me interested enough to finish reading this book - 1.) The sex scenes were freaking HOT! Ms. Watson really knows how to write steamy sex scenes. 2.) Being a nurse, I'm always excited to read a romance book that tackles any medical condition, and this book gave me that. I loved how the author gave the readers an insight into ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. It was so touching.

And even though I didn't love it, I'm still looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this saga.

This was short and sweet. Neighbours when they were kids, Caleb was the typical little boy who picked on the girl he liked cause well, that's what little boys tend to do. Chloe had a crush on him since forever, but his bullying pretty much killed it... at least until they both had too much to drink at a family event in Vegas. Although Caleb's intentions were still pretty crappy at first that night, by morning he knew the tables had turned. Chloe although unsure at first because of their miserable history, was open to giving a relationship with Caleb a try... but she didn't know that it all started with a bet.
I love a bad boy who knows when he's gone too far and how to grovel! The epilogue is too close to the main story to really be an epilogue. It's more like the last chapter. But it was sweet to the point of being sappy. But I loved it anyways.

Our boy Cal is quite blunt, "what's your problem, woman, didn't you get enough last night?" He grasped her hand under the sheet and held it to his erection, rubbing up and down. "I'm good for another round if you're up for it." He also has no shame, "he braced himself with his free hand on the wall above the toilet. "Will you stop yelling. I gotta take a pi**, and it's a little late for modesty, isn't it?" He makes the most yummy promises, "yes, Miss Mills, that's how I operate. I'll date you, eff you, assist you with any other needs you may have. You can do the same for me. From time to time I may buy you something pretty." He sometimes likes to give Chloe a play by play, "I'm taking off my pants because I'm going to eff you now." I really enjoyed this book.

The book has potential if Ms. Watson took the time going thru the story. Everything is sooo rush that you don't get to appreciate the book.

I'm wishing it will be re-written and this time not rush into things. I feel like the whole book was just a summary and you're left hanging wanting to smell the roses while you go thru the journey. Felt short-change here.

Might still read the other books. I'm intrigue with the St. Martin but I'm hoping and expecting a whole lot of improvements on the telling of Cory's story. :)

The book was a bit fast paced for my liking, but what can I expect from a short story. It was very moving and although it was a quick book you could still connect with the characters and feel there emotions. I liked the story of forgiveness and true love an felt emotional and connected with Steves story and which I've found isn't always possible even with the longer books out there, which gives credit to the author as its about the way it written not the amount written. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

I was disappointed with this book. The main character, Cal, and his brothers treat women like dirt. Chloe is an idiot - this guy who has not only teased her but humiliated her throughout her life and yet she falls right into his bed for no reason. And even after he's shown for years that he's not trustworthy she allows him to film a sex tape of her. The characters were completely superficial and for the most part unlikeable.

Well, the first chapter made me think I wouldn't like it. The set up, the dialogue the characters personalities were a turn off.

But it improved once the characters left Vegas. Chloe and Cal grew up together and Cal constantly tormented her. They wind up in bed after a chance meeting in Las Vegas.

Upon returning home they cant' forget each other and fall into a relationship.

Chloe was pretty childish at times, but overall I wound up liking it.

The more I read books by Gina Watson the more I love her stories. Score is about two people that have known each other since they were children. Cal picked And bullied Chloe the whole time. He even made a bit that he could sleep with her. Only they fell in love with each other. Dealing with the ups and downs of the relationship, they also dealt with a Steve and his family during his illness with ALS. The story line is strong and the end is fantastic.

A quick short read about the St Martin Family.

Cal hooks up with Chloe, the girl who grew up next door to him, the one that has always been in his heart. Unfortunately the night they get together it's as the result of a bet. There are bits or phrases that are slightly repetitive, and slightly formulaic as if you know what is coming next, however it was still a good story and it ended on such a beautiful high.

I really enjoyed the ending
