The fifth installment in the Witch's Bell Series, Book Five continues the themes of romance, magic, and adventure as Ebony Bell solves crimes and keeps the city of Vale safe from the dark side of magic.
.....
Ebony has a little problem. She's dead. She's also under contract by a demon, a very powerful one. Unless she can find a way to break the deal, she'll end up in its pocket for Eternity.
With only Harry by her side, Ebony sets out on her most desperate adventure yet.

This was an interesting installment in this series. Each book has Ebony learning something new, maybe about her magic and how it works, or many things that Harry teaches her, but this one was to show the reader that things are not so black and white. Ebony made a pact with a demon and he comes to collect. He wants to embody her and so he technically kills her. She has a few days to make someone see her or he will collect on his pact. She finds her new ghost-like body interesting, but she learns how to hold it together. She sees her family grieve for her because they think she is dead and she has a hard time dealing with the loss and the feeling of being forgotten. When she faces all the dark creatures- the ones she would normally try to get rid of- she realizes that maybe they aren't as bad as she had been taught. The author has been very creative in describing these creatures and how they feel. Ebony does well interacting with them. I especially love how she was able to break the demon's pact and how the relationship with Nate has improved. The book shows Ebony's growth because the coven is no longer criticizing her, but seeing her as a powerful witch who is taking her job seriously to protect Vale. I think this story could make a very entertaining movie.
After books 3 and 4, this book almost disappointed me. Ebony Bell made a deal with a demon, and now he's come to collect. The writing was great, but the storyline wasn't. I felt like all Ebony did was whine the whole book until the last 3 chapters. Don't get me wrong, I would whine to if I died, but it felt like the whole book was her whining about being dead, instead of trying to find a way to fix it. On to book 6!
This is book five of this series and it just keeps getting better! A strong determined witch, a handsome knight and a haunted book store. I love this series.
SPOILER!!! Ebony and Nate FINALLY get together. I really enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down. I liked how the Author made you look and good and evil (dark and light). Just because something is different doesn't mean it's dark or light.
