Valuable tips and tricks. I found the information about saving money and using points for traveling very helpful in this book, which I read through Kindle Unlimited. Thanks to miles/points I’ve earned through airlines, I haven’t paid for a flight in over 20 years. But this book taught me how and when to use my points more efficiently and how to get more bang for each point. Thanks so much.
Good advice on some new sites I didn’t know about, especially seats.aero. It was also helpful to see the recommended credit cards with the best points.
I recently have been researching discounted/free vacations and this one was highly recommended. A nice change from the credit card hamster wheel that is pushed by most vloggers (that get kickbacks), it was a straightforward approach with lots of great tips! I'm sure it will someday save me thousands. Thanks for the great manual!
Decent tips but not anything earth shattering that I wasn’t aware of. I did enjoy the 30/60/90 tip but felt like the advice to just “go where the deals are” doesn’t apply when you only have limited time off like most military families do.
I think that #JoelMcDonald is a genius. He traveled around the world on business using his accumulated airline points, and eventually realized that he could be traveling better and cheaper with a new method. That method is the JGOOT travel plan.
Not to give away any spoilers, but you if you love to travel, and want to do it more, get this book and follow his suggestions. They also have a Facebook group that help out with any questions, plus a weekly free(!) webinar on the JGOOT method. They're very helpful and informative.
I highly recommend this book and his method.
BTW, the reason that it's taken me so long to read this book is that I stopped while getting my stuff together to proceed to the next step. You could probably read this book in a day or weekend, it's not hard, but the concepts need to be studied. Just fyi.
Glad I got this book. Also the audible recording. I will listen to it several times different sections at a time I’m sure. As I get familiar with each section and know what and how with each. I like the simplicity of how it starts. That is a must. I’ve been a member of other points groups and they are work. Re-read again, still work. Jgoot is simple steps and good info with the book to listen and look and samples. I am just getting started. I’ll let you know if I change my mind.
I've been very interested in travel hacking recently. I've learned a lot from a lot of people. I enjoyed the presentation of this one, but what I found out was that it was really only designed for people who were nomads and traveled full time with no real home base. It sounds great, and the information is good, so good read.
Quote from the book “The JGOOT Way of Travel guarantees you'll be able to stretch your travel budget 3 to 5 times farther. As a result, you can travel more often, fly in business & first-class, stay in 4 & 5-star resorts, and still spend less than what most people would spend on a budget vacation.”
Basically tells you tips on how to use credit card miles more efficiently.
So far interesting and I think I've learned at least one thing. Will need to study more. I think it's hard to use for teachers who have a more set schedule (at least, the savings might not be as much as if you had flexible schedules). We'll see.
This book is a great guide for saving money on flights and lodging and hopefully going on more trips! I’m excited to try out the tips and tricks and see where they take me 😊
