After the death of his youngest son to a rare disease, one father risks everything to travel into the unknown in search of his son. What would you do if you were told your child only had 6 months to live? That the life you had been dreaming and planning for them, would never happen. That is the exact situation Jarrett Ingram found himself in when he was told that his infant 3rd son, Trek Atlas, had a rare disease with no cure or treatment. His family brought him home that day and quickly decided his short future. They were going to take Trek to see the world.Follow along the true life story of Trek Atlas Ingram and his family as he travels around the world, and the pain and love they experience living every day as if it was their last. The amazing story of Trek’s life is intertwined with a fiction story of a man that will stop at nothing to save his son. It is based on a dream that Trek’s dad had just days after he died, about the love and loss of a father finding out if his son still needs him.
Cannot believe this is the author's first novel! Amazing story of perseverance through the most difficult circumstances. The alternating sequences between the fictional story and personal accounts drive the reader to keep reading. The interesting storyline and vivid details of the fiction causes the reader to visualize themselves amidst the action and suspense. The inspiring and heartbreaking personal accounts allow the reader to be reminded of what is truly important while here on earth. A must-read full of emotions.
I was blown away and loved everything about the book. It was one I could not put down and finished within 24 hours. The way Jarrett detailed each chapter and event within the chapter made me feel like I was present in each moment. It all flowed and kept me wanting more with each page. It brought new insights to life and really left me wanting to live a much more meaningful life...and to love harder. I highly reccommend this book to anyone and look forward to more from Jarrett in the future. He sure knows what he is doing and his talent will not stay hidden as an author after this book reaches more and more people.
So I receive this book on Monday and by Saturday I had completed it!! Exceeded all my expectations and the author draws you in like a moth to a flame... Based on a true story, the raw emotions show me from the author touches your heart to the very core, and brings you into a whole new reality about what happens when we pass over. This story is abour a father's mission and undying love for his son. Get ready to meet the most beautiful blue eyed baby boy... Trek Atlas. During Trek's short time on earth I believe he made a HUGE impact on the world about his message of Embracing life!! This is a MUST READ! I give this 10 stars, if that was an option :)
Following After Trek is an powerful book about a Dad (Jarrett) who lost his youngest son (Trek). Following After Trek tackles the problem of not knowing what happens when our loved ones die. Jarrett mixes the true story of his son and a fictional vision of what the after life could be. The story blends well together and becomes an exciting read to follow Jarrett find his son.
Having gone through the tragic, unthinkable loss of an infant child myself, I felt connected to the story in ways words can't express. I loved this book. I found it riveting and couldn't put it down. I love the author's style and was compelled and inspired by his words.
I don't read often but I could NOT put this book down. This author did an amazing job putting this great book together in such a tragic time of his life. I recommend this book to ANYONE, you won't be sorry!
A terrific accomplishment for a new writer. Mr. Ingram has of much to be proud. He masterfully blended his dream sequence with the true account of the life of Trek. I am in awe of this family.
Loved this book! I have to admit I was a little bit skeptical at first, knowing that the book was self-published. But the writing is overall really good, and the dual-story memoir/fantasy novel format is really interesting and captivating. Also I was glad that every other chapter switches back to the fantasy part of the story because the memoir part is very emotionally intense (i.e. you might be crying so much that you have to stop reading.)
While dealing with the saddest possible subject matter on earth (the death of their son) this book is heartwarming and uplifting. The Ingraham family is so adorable and sweet! This is kind of silly but one of my favorite parts is when Chelsea nurses her son in the car while her husband is driving. We all made fun of Britney Spears for doing this but really who hasn't done it? :)
This novel is nothing like I thought it would be based on the cover of the book and the book’s description on Amazon. When I see “based on a true story” when going to a movie, I know that the story may have only the tiniest aspect based in reality and the rest is not only embellished but possibly completely made up. I don’t typically expect that in a book. So the alternating chapters that take place in the afterlife were completely unexpected. It is heartbreaking to read about Trek’s diagnosis and to know that that part of the book is not fiction.
Wasn't sure this was my kind of book. It seemed slow and repetitive at first but as I got in to the book, I found myself enjoying it. I don't share the beliefs with the characters and plot But found myself connecting with them in their love they shared with their children. If you read this book, have tissue ready. It's a tear jerker.
The author has written a very poignant story about his son's very short, yet very special life. I didn't expect this book to have fantasy type elements (every other chapter takes place in the afterlife), and even though I didn't connect with those chapters, the real life story chapters were so emotional and well written that I didn't mind reading the parts that aren't my usual genre.
