Chelsea Ross left her high school sweetheart, right after graduation. It was a decision she didn't regret until the day she finds out he's marrying the girl that she never got along with. She wants to spend time with her family for Christmas, but the thought of facing them has her torn. However, when her best friend Charlie comes to her with a proposal, it could be one that she can't resist. Will her heart find its way back to her ex? Or, will she learn that sometimes what you want isn't the same as what you need? Christmas is the time to believe in miracles and GOD always has a plan.
Christmas Proposal was a short book with a predictable ending. Well, if I'm being honest here, a lot of things were predictable. In this, you will meet Chelsea and Charlie. They were pretty likable characters, but I wasn't completely in love with them. I'm not sure why because there was nothing wrong with them. It just felt too clean for me, I guess.
With romance comes drama. It came and went pretty quickly if I'm still being honest here. Then we reach the very end and I'm just kind of wanting more. From the characters or the story, something just felt off. It might just be me thinking this way though.
In the end, it was a quick romance to fly through.
I'm usually a sucker for a love story where the characters are friends first. This one did not hold my interest. While the story idea is promising and there are a few bits of fun dialogue, most of it is bland and in serious need of editing. I quit around 20% and had already marked more than 50 typos/grammatical errors. The author doesn’t seem to have any idea how to use a semicolon and the biggest issue is her apparent fear of the word said. I constantly had to back up to figure out who was talking, even in scenes with only two characters.
The Christmas Proposal focuses on two main characters Chelsea, a young girl still in high school, and her friend Charlie, also still in high school. The story continues a few years into the future and shows Chelsea and Charlie and their friendship. They both went to the same high school, and then to the same University. The friendship never deteriorated nor did it become more then the perfect friendship between a guy and a girl over the years.
If you can get past some grammar errors, then this short story is a great find. I will admit that this is my second time reading it and enjoyed it as much as the first time. It is a wonderful story of true love and true friendship. The heroine was immature and misguided about her first love. She couldn't see how great her best friend was and how much he loved her. Good thing she came to her senses!
Wow...I completely forgot I was even reading a book. I felt I was right there falling in love with Charlie. It had passion, but what I really liked was that it was down home and everyone could read it. There were no swear words and everything was kept PG. I loved it and can't wait to read more from this author.
I really wanted to like this book. The plot wasn't lacking, but I felt like a lot of the dialogue was forced and not fluid. Also, where's the resolution? I legit had to check that my digital copy was fully downloaded. Is it a set up for a sequel, or just up to the reader to predict what will happen?
What a sweet and genuine romance. It had the whole boy loves girl romance, yet, the girl doesn't want to face it. Boy persists and when all hope is lost...will he win girl over? Well...you will have to read it to find out. I thought it was the perfect Christmas book and would read it again.
I really enjoyed this book. It had some good ol' wholesome romance. You wouldn't have to be worried about your child picking it up. Chelsea and Charlie, made the perfect couple.
