The Force is an all-encompassing energy field generated by all living things. It binds the galaxy together, bringing balance through its two sides. While the light side promotes knowledge and peace, the Force also has a dark side. Anger, fear, and aggression emanate from the dark side, providing a corrupting power to those willing to draw on its destructive nature.

Bill Slavicsek's gaming life was forever changed when he discovered Dungeons & Dragons in 1976. He became a gaming professional in 1986 when he was hired by West End Games as an editor. He quickly added developer, designer, and creative manager to his resume, and his work helped shape the Paranoia, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, and Torg roleplaying games. He even found some time during that period to do freelance work for D&D 1st Edition. In 1993, Bill joined the staff of TSR, Inc. as a designer/editor. He worked on a bunch of 2nd Edition material, including products for Core D&D, Dark Sun, Ravenloft, and Planescape. In 1997, he was part of the TSR crowd that moved to Seattle to join Wizards of the Coast, and in that year he was promoted to R&D Director for D&D. In that position, Bill oversaw the creation of both the 3rd Edition and 4th Edition of the D&D Roleplaying Game. He was one of the driving forces behind the D&D Insider project, and he continues to oversee and lead the creative strategy and effort for Dungeons & Dragons.
This was one of a batch I bought from someone on eBay. My first ever attempt at GMing in this hobby was a game based on the Star Wars ruleset which this book expands: Wizard of the Coast's Revised Edition ruleset. The player characters were mostly Dark Side so I bought this book (and several others that I'll cover later) to expand the range of abilities my Force user PCs and NPCs possessed.
The name says it all: it's a book that expands on the Dark Side of the Force.
It's got a lot of great powers, factions, monsters, etc but the internal graphics are a bit on the ugly side and I wish there was a bit more material.
This is definitely one of the best source books in Star Wars. Clear evidence of the power of the Sith and those evidence actually make logical sense and not just statements such as Exar Kun > Sidious. It includes great analysis on a lot of Sith lords that are part of canon and have incredible amount of force analysis of the Sith. Definitely a good read if you need a source book for s Star Wars EU debate.
I bought this hoping to find some evil tricks to pull on my players. There are only a handful of new skills and feats, most of which are geared toward players and not NPCs. The new dark side prestige classes were interesting and can get pretty powerful... probably too powerful for my level 9 party. I'll have to hang onto this when the crap *really* hits the fan at higher levels.
