Preacher John is ready to beat the devil out of you. In his Satanarium he strives to deliver you from evil. This is a war against Satan, one he doesn't intend to lose.
Behind the scenes of humdrum monotony is the harsh reality of religion, up close and personal with the God of the Old Testament. He claims to be merciful, but that remains to be seen.
This is a visceral, violent, and vivid journey inside the halls of the Satanarium. No dirty angel leaves unscathed. No one leaves, ever.
Prepare for terror!
This is Book 2 in the Darkroom saga: This novel is not recommended for the blind sheep stuck in flocks, this is horror that upsets the pious but thrills fans of The Exorcist and American Horror Story.

March 12/2021 For some reason, this started to pop in my feed today. It's an old review. Hence the update to correct two terrible grammatical errors. 🙊🙈🙉
There was not a single page I have turned where I wouldn't ask myself : WHAT THE HELL AM I READING?!
We all read about kidnapping, human traffic, psychos and so on. But what makes some stories more convincing, appealing, real and brutal than others? Well, I can only speak for myself. 1)The fact that this is about a religious cult full of insane and delirious blokes that think men are omnipotent. 2) The very often and real quotations from the bible distorted into a horrifying and insane way. 3)The constant citations of a female being inferior, which gives me shivers. All these elements combined in a 1 to 10 scale, make this an 11. I can't even! This shit cannot exist!
My quotes are all from the first 5% of the book. I assure you: it gets much worse.
If there was ever a book that needed a warning, this one is the prime example. Heed my warning, dark friends. This is not a romance. It's dark, it's mind fuckery, it's debauchery of epic proportions.
Ramblings ahead. I have no idea how to review this book without sounding like a lunatic. This book. This story is definitely not for everyone, it will make you cringe, it will make you grab your blanky and cry for your momma. Poppet blew my mind, she urged her way into my comfort zone, she grabbed my sanity and ripped it out, she left me staring blankly at the wall.
Satanarium is the second book in the Darkroom Saga, you could probably read this one as a standalone, but I recommend Darkroom before this one.
We are dealing with a religious cult, Preacher John is sent from his God to save the sinners. This warped world of crazy had my skin crawling... The religious aspect was what triggered my insanity. I had to put the book down several times to regroup, to find my reality. Poppet dug deep, this isn't your average run of the mill psychological thriller. It's so much more, in depth, captivating. If you can fight your way through this story, you will understand my conflicted emotions, there's a deeper meaning within the pages. And to be frank, Poppet knocked it out of the park. A middle finger to some. I'm in shock & awe of her right now. She's gain a new fan, that's for sure.
Finish the book and tell me if your head isn't spinning. Tell me you aren't ready to rethink history.
What frightens me the most about this book is how much I enjoyed it NO Loved It. I thought I would get some more from Victor and Shauna. I really miss Victor but Preacher John managed to step into Victors shoes only ten times worse. Preacher John out to Cleanse all Sinners until the Lord absolves you through penance and punishment. I got quite attached to Preacher John and by the end was hoping and praying what happened to him wouldn't, but the Lord saw to the Sinners for what they did!!! This has got to be one of the darkest of dark books I have read to date. Onto number three.
I first have to give huge cuddo’s to Authors Poppet and Troy Lambert for taking on the tremendous task of spilling some nitty-gritty truths (and yes they have been researched) and for being able to bring such a gripping story to light. If you are like me, you will come to find that so many things in the good book have been misled. I read this and was floored, and I mean completely leveled, by every turn of the page.
The old adage of fire and brimstone is brought to life in living color and it is quite the emotional fuck of a lifetime. What would we (normal people) do when faced with the twisted dementia of someone who claims to be one of God’s Angel’s? Would we bow down and be grateful when they quoted scriptures at us, then contorted those same scriptures, winding them into some sort of personal interpretation?
This story is a spin off segment from Poppets story Darkroom, and leads us all into the reality Victor had to grow up in. In this story, Preacher John is one whacked out character, claiming to do everything in God’s name, but seriously the man is out there, left field was bypassed for this character, he goes straight to the galaxy on this, but it was what he learned and practices…his acts of testimonies on others. In the Satanarium story, be ready to be hurling emotions from paragraph to paragraph, page to page, and what is strange is that this could easily happen to any of us. Preacher John is one seductive character, the perfect attitude and looks to seduce the pants off of you, but how soon you will realize that you’d literally give your left arm if that is all he seduced from you.
This is a horror that left me breathless and lusting for more at the same time. You will definitely question your own sanity and truths about what you believe. This is a story that keeps you guessing at everything, then when you think you’ve got it, along with the other hostages of the Satanarium, You find there is always one more trick up the sleeve.
I read this and was leveled, and I mean totally floored. I cannot even begin to describe the emotional roller coaster I was on. Satanarium is a spin off segment from Poppet's story, Darkroom. It takes us from the reality Victor (of Darkroom)had to grow up in, to other characters just as delusional as him.
In this story, Preacher John is one whacked out character from left field. John talks to God, hell he's as angel and God's right hand man. Now what is freaky about it all, is that he is hella sexy and hot, like seduce you out of your panties hot. John is one of the choosen which is very scary because he twists and quotes bible versus at you, but turns them on you as quick as a rattlesnake striking.
This psychological horror left me literally gasping for air, yet lusting for more at the same time. I questioned my own sanity and the truths about what I was taught and believed when it comes to the big black book, the Bible. This story kept me guessing at every turn, and hiding behind my hand to read more. Just when you think "I've got this" and think this along with the other hostages of the Satanarium, you'll find another trick up the old sleeve.
Authors Poppet and Troy Lambert have done an incredibly amazing job in portraying this story. You've definitely got to read it, it's going to make you wonder why you just accept what has been taught, and see how easily it could mean so many different things. Cuddos to the authors, a brilliant job.
Holy Hades! This is quite the read! An insane cult of bible-pushing bastards bent on ‘saving’ the sinners out there, with extreme emphasis on women as the ultimate Satan.
It’s graphic and violent, and every page causes a gut reaction. This is the literal Word, and as you read you wonder if you’ll be the same in the aftermath.
Definitely not for the faint-hearted, and certainly not for the narrow-minded. Read it only if you dare, if you are able to see around the corners of curves, if you are prepared for total onslaught!
This reader is awed by the knowledge of the bible displayed by the writers- this is clever work, a well-structured tale of torture and manipulation that certainly makes you think. The author notes at the end of Satanarium gift readers some food for further thought also!
Well done to the writers for daring this, because it’s bound to be controversial … but don’t you just love a bit of controversy??!!
Erm I don't even know what to say I thought the first one was Dark this one was even worse Really enjoyed it though.
You will definitely question your own sanity and truths about what you believe. This is a story that keeps you guessing at everything till the very end.
Poppet and Lambert's Satanarium is a brilliantly crafted horror tale. As per Poppet's usual style, the story grabs hold of you from the very first page, sucking you into her beautifully dark and deviant world. The frightening thing about this horror novel is that the fire and brimstone material that motivates the sadistic men who run this abandoned sanitarium is very real. The two authors, through amazingly well-researched use of scripture, paint a vivid picture of men gone delirious with self-righteous power. You can almost feel the adrenaline coursing through their veins as they torture their victims, their hunger for violence and abuse as they commit unspeakable acts with the misguided notion that they are God's instruments used to purify people of their sin.
The first time I read Darkroom, Poppet's poetically crafted horror tale and the predecessor to Satanarium, I was floored. Never before in my life had I been so enthralled by an author's prose, by their talent for weaving such a visceral tale while still allowing you to bond and even sympathize with the characters. For quite some time it has been my favorite novel, and this second installment in the Darkroom saga has only increased my enthusiasm for the series. Now mind you, I have never been one to be afraid to embrace the dark side of things, so the violence and controversy is quite welcome to me. I see nothing in these stories more disturbing than the biblical scripture cited with impeccable accuracy.
Even if you are not a Poppet fan, I urge you to read this book. If you are the kind of person who is comfortable reveling in the darkness that lurks in the dusty corners of your mind, you will dance merrily through it, and be left hungry for more. If you are not, you will be left thoroughly shaken, perhaps questioning how such acts of violence could hold any sort of allure or morbid fascination to you. Do not fear, you haven't gone off the deep end, you have just experienced a wonderfully different kind of horror story. Your mind has been seduced by the truly talented and praiseworthy Poppet. Enjoy the ride.
3.5 stars. This had a very different feel than the first installment and I found that although I was still intrigued, I did not enjoy it as much. John, the Angel of death, has a good case of the crazies going on and 72 victims, or chosen ones, to wrestle from Satan's hold and show them the path to God. We're also introduced to James, the Angel of chaos, Father and Seth make a reappearance, and a few others... and this is where it goes astray. I think there are perhaps too many POVs for the author to keep track. For instance, John is horribly depressed over an occurrence book 1 that doesn't make any sense to the reader until book 3 (I edited this review when I found the discrepancy fixed). There are other instances like where it's mentioned John had "4 men and 3 women follow" his order but by that time Julie had already left so it would've only been six. The first book was so meticulous these mistakes were distracting. I kept flipping back, thinking it was my own memory failing me, but no... I mentioned a different 'feel' than the first... While both are dark, this one is considerably darker, even containing a scene that literally made me swallow back vomit. Also, while much of book one was horrific, I could still classify it as dark erotica. While Satanarium contains graphic sex scenes, none of them are erotic, not even with the dark tag. Darkroom was a journey between Victor and Shauna and I felt like all of the scripture quoted enhanced their story. In Satanaium, I feel like it was more about the Bible and Preacher John et all were thrown in to prove points about the scripture. Poppet wrote in the notes after this book that she "chooses to write books like this to expose the hypocrisy and the violence of the 'word of god'." Is it still good? Yes, and I'll read the third, anxious to know Shauna's fate but this book was definitely more about the message than the story.
The Old Testament is filled with blood , guts ,fire ,brimstone and damnation. So what happens when a group of people take those warped teachings literally?Satanarium is what happens! Before you begin reading you might ask yourself why Satanarium? As the story progresses you understand the meaning behind the title with absolute clarity. A spinoff of Darkroom by Poppet, Satanarium takes you into the world Victor grew up in and everything becomes crystal clear as to why he was so twisted. Preacher John was gorgeous on the outside but a bi-polar psychopath on the inside, using unspeakable torture to literally hammer home God's word.the adrenalin started pumping as I began reading this and only increased as each page was turned.I found myself reading sideways at some parts of the book ,like I do at a scary movie when something horrific is about to happen that I can't completely face but can't completely look away either. This was horror at an epic level! My emotions ran the gambit reading this, fear, disgust, rage, hope, pity and even sympathy for the monster who desperately wanted what us normal folks want, someone to love and cherish and to be loved and cherished.I found myself engulfed in this story to the point of delightful obsession.Poppet and Troy Lambert really pulled out all the stops on this one!Not only is this an eye opener to the atrocities people think are justified in the name of God but it is also a learning experience! Brava and Bravo!!
I had to take several breaks while reading this book
I love dark reads but this was so dark I had to give my mind breaks. Poppet has a way of making you feel for these psychos... well I did at times. It felt almost like John was having flashes of something being wrong but then he was back to work. Your heart breaks for some of these people. Your stomach will clench and heave. Mostly you will be more aware when you are out. You will question that drink offered by the stranger at the bar.... Definitely dark, darkest I have read to date. I enjoyed the story and wonder, just a little, what that says about me. If you enjoyed Darkroom you will enjoy this book. I recommend this dark book just prepare yourself for a tragically dark ride.
There are four books in this series up to now by Poppet. They delve into religion/cults in a very tortuous way. They are about abuse through religion and abuse of women by religion. There a typical love story in each of them as well obviously. Not sure I can get my head around the love story bit, but it does make a story I guess I've enjoyed reading them but absolutely not for the faint hearted, they don't make an easy read and it does make you think about what you've been taught up to now and not in the best way.... 18+++++

"Question everything." This book will make you do just that. This was probably one of the heaviest books I've read, heavy on the mind and heart. It was a tough journey, but I'm so glad I took it.
It’s.... effed up in so many ways that I had to put the book away several times. This book uses the Old Testament in today’s world. It is twisted and mind blowing. The writing is fabulous.
