Short story originally published in the Noble Romance anthology "Echoes of the Future". This story is now out of contract.
Sebastian is the latest in a line of siblings bred and trained to supervise his family's robots on their automated space station. With five years of his allotted term left to serve, he is lonely and bored, but the last thing he wants to do is the housework. For Christmas, his mother sends him a Domestic Darling cyborg to carry out those tasks for him. However, instead of being a pert blond with big tits and a cute ass like in the advertisement, this one is six foot tall and built like a Greek god, a very virile Greek God.
In an attempt to improve its functioning, Sebastian uses some of his brilliant programming skills. The resulting changes ensure Sebastian will never be bored or lonely again.
Unlike many authors, I haven't been writing stories all my life. I've been too busy living life. My travels took me from the fjords of Norway to the southern tip of New Zealand. In between, I've worked in so many different towns I've lost count. I've shoveled cow shit, mustered sheep, been polite to customers, traded insults with politicians and need to be forgiven on occasions when I get confused as to who needs what where. Now that I'm settled in Sydney, Australia, my real-life experiences can morph with my fertile imagination and create fiction which I hope readers will enjoy. My philosophy on posting reviews is to recommend books I like which I think other people may not read and state why I like them. These are only the tip of the iceberg of books I read. If I do post a negative review, it's because there is some craft aspect (usually) that, to me, prevents the book from reaching its full potential. Books I straight out don't like or don't finish, don't even get a mention, as they may be someone else's cup of tea.
This was okay: I kinda thought it was going to be a bit more metaphysical in nature, and so I was a little let down by the plot. I guess it's because the author is a good author (try Leather+Lace some time) so I expected more from this than it was designed to be.
This doesn't mean it's a terrible story: for a cyborg PWP it's good. The flaw here was I went in assuming it wouldn't be PWP.
This story originally appeared in the anthology "Echoes of the Future" which was edited by Aleksandr Voinov and published by the now defunct Noble Romance Publishing back in 2009.
This revamped and extended edition is offered as a free Holiday gift much like one of the protagonists was.
"Reversal" was my first published effort, and in case you were wondering, it's meant to be a comedy.
Sebastian, living out in space, all alone, is sent a cyborg by his mother, to hep him clean.
He tinkers until the docile domestic Darlene (in actual fact, a male), evolves into Domineering Sex-borg kink machine. It's smex from woe to go, getting more kinky as the borg remembers his origins...
It's fun and it was good to see Sebastian get a really happy xmas (over & over)
This M/M erotic short story offers an interesting -if not new- concept touching, beside kinky erotic quirks, important themes and issues about what make us human. It is generally pleasant to read but pacing is not ideal and many important psychological and erotic transitions end by being underwhelming. The BDSM element feels unnecessary and is clumsily treated.
Reversal was a quite sexy story set in a futuristic world. It takes place entirely on an isolated space station. The story is fairly short and just enough world building is provided so that it makes sense. I enjoyed the mystery behind the cyborg - where he came from and why he was "damaged." It was also fun to see how he changed as Sebastian tinkered with him and how he helped Sebastian learn about his own sexuality. My one quibble is that the ending was a bit jarring and over the top. Reversal can warm up your holidays just as Cedric warmed up Sebastian's.
I'm very happy the author was generous and gave it this story. Thanks you for this freebie! It's a 3 stars because I love robots and androids, so I was hoping for more... But the story end :-(
