Volume 3 of The Urban Rabbit Project series is all about colony raising rabbits. My co-author this time is A.Z. Nilsson, who has the most awesome colonies I've seen! This is the full color version. It's filled with pictures.
Boyd Craven Jr was born in Flint, Michigan, USA on December 7, 1957. He grew up in a close, country, family environment in Grand Blanc, MI. He went to school there, and at 18, he followed his father's footsteps into a career with General Motors there where he worked for 30 years and 2 days.
Upon retiring at 48 years old, he rediscovered the love for gardening his parents had taught him, raises his own food as much as is practical and enjoys teaching others to do the same. He founded The Urban Rabbit Project to teach others how to add a meat section to their garden, no matter where they live. He published his first book in Kindle Direct Publishing in November 2012 titled "Backyard Meat Rabbits" and discovered that he loves writing too. So, here he is, trying to become a great story teller, by studying daily some of the best ones out there. He can think of no better way to spend the rest of his days, enjoying his retirement!
I’ve never raised rabbits in a colony before, but this book makes the whole idea feel far less intimidating than I expected. The author breaks everything down simply — space, safety, group dynamics, feeding, breeding — without overcomplicating the process.
It’s practical, encouraging, and gives you enough confidence to seriously consider trying a colony setup, even if you’ve only ever done traditional hutches. A solid, beginner-friendly guide.
