I just want one person. One person who understands me. A terrible night with Ace in the forest has left Alice reeling. Even if she's willing to face the darkness inside him, is she only doing it out of pity? Now that the mandatory assembly--run by Nightmare--is starting up in the Country of Clover, all the role-holders are gathered for a peaceful summit. Alice plans to use the event to try and untangle her feelings about Ace. In the meantime, Elliot is also falling for her, and love triangles, even tentative ones, can get deadly in Wonderland.
Better than the first one. We get a few flashbacks of Alice's old life in "our" world, many of which we've seen in other incarnations of the series, a few of which we haven't yet.
The art is gorgeous as usual, and they've toned Ace down a touch this volume (thank God). The problem for me is that I can't help but root for Elliot even though I know from the title that Alice is going to choose Ace in this version. People who are bigger fans of Ace than I am probably won't have this problem.
This volume did a great job of continuing from where volume 1 left off. I am really enjoying the plot in this scenario and seeing the characters from another new perspective. I can't wait to read what happens in the next volume as well as see how things work themselves out since it will be the last book in this set.
The Special Preview at the end of this volume for "I am Alice Body Swap in Wonderland" also looked interesting.
Less rapey than the first volume. I had forgotten there was a third volume, which I don't own and have never read, so that's annoying. Not sure if I'll buy it because I can't support this couple because of the rapiness. Elliot and Boris are super gentlemanly and adorable in this though. I'm just reading this for the side characters and Alice, not Ace...
I can't say this volume has helped any with my previously-stated issues regarding Ace as a character or the AlicexAce pairing. If anything, Elliot so far remains my favorite preferred pairing for Alice and Peter actually is winning me over a little here as well. (Also give it up for Boris, coming in clutch and being a bro when Alice needs one!)
I understand the reasoning and logic in this particular trilogy seems to hinge on a point of commonality between Alice and Ace. In this case, apparently Alice can empathize with what she believes to be Ace's loneliness. I have my doubts as to whether or not this is truly loneliness that she's seeing; Ace is displaying more and more of the true nature he keeps hidden beneath his airheaded, chronically lost veneer, and Alice can't seem to decide if he's being his honest self or not. To me, it reads as her simply seeing all sides of who he is now, and being conflicted even further. Nothing here can convince me she's sincerely falling for him. It feels very forced, and I doubt I'm going to enjoy the ending. I'll still read it though, since I've made it this far.
This three-volume spin off about Ace is a much better spin off than the standalone volume that also featured him. While it has its shortcomings, I did feel like it was one of the better spin offs in this series. It's one of the prettier art styles so definitely visually appealing.
Story wise, Ace was reasonably likeable despite being a rather unstable character. I wouldn't have minded his romance with Alice in this one but at the same time, for a book about Ace, I actually found him to be quite minor. His scenes with Alice were comparatively few which made the romance feel like it didn't have much meat to it. It also didn't help that the March Hare Elliott was the main romantic rival given that he is a personal favourite of mine.
Looking at the more positive side though, I think this one opted for a more interested story in terms of world build. It's also one of the darker ones and while I found the pacing to be a little slow at times, it was one with some good twists and turns.
It's time for the Assembly! Ace and Alice aren't on speaking terms, Nightmare shows up with his subordinate Gray, and Elliot is falling in love with Alice. We also get to see Ace in his natural state and in his role state (it's a little scary). But what exactly is his role and why does he hate it so much?
I know this is supposed to be an Alice X Ace story but this volume made me fall in love with Elliot all over again~
Note: Alice in the Country of Clover is the sequel to Alice in the Country of Hearts; both of which are based off Otome dating games. A phenomenon called 'moving' takes place, which is why the name of the country changes, and results in a few new characters appearing but a few old characters disappearing. The first dating sim resulted in a manga (by the same title) that spawned many different spinoffs. This is one of those stories.
Oh boy, it's getting REAL. I seriously like how this manga isn't just focused on one person, even though it's obvious from the title that she's going to choose Ace. I like that there are other side things going on, but for the love of god WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN THE WHOLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON PETER/ALICE THING>??!? I've read like 64332432 side stories already and have been given 0 answers.
I liked the art in this book, the chibis were adorable. The plots doing good, keeping me interested. Is it bad that I'm rooting for Elliot. They'd be cuter then Ace, specially since he keeps trying to kill her. Still curious to see what happens next of course.
Well, a lot of characters in this and well every other volume in the Alice Country Hearts series...so far anyway. I don't know what else to say really. I mean the story does get interesting at times I guess. A little confusing at times but a good volume.
It was better than volume 1 and Elliot was really sweet in comparison with Ace who was more mysterious but it was sweet and fun to read so i liked it but still i think that there is not as much as romance as in the other series.
