Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, Meredith Clarke finds herself held hostage by Jeffrey, a handsome, but dangerously troubled criminal. Escape seems impossible. But, determined to return to her husband, her family, and her job, Meredith forms a plot to befriend her kidnapper and persuade him to set her free.
Will her plan work? Or will Meredith instead become entangled with her captor in a way she could never have expected?
Erotic and poignant, Captured is a powerful story that explores the power of fear and lust, love and shame. It will hold you, entice you, and maybe even change you.
Sorry to say Captured didn't hold my interest. Too much irrelevant, extraneous information. Too much attention paid to the character's inner monologues, which tended to be filled with too much extraneous detail. Repetitive at times, going over extraneous details.
I made it to 40%, then started to skim. I skimmed to 60% and just didn't have the energy to go on. There was no chemistry between the characters. Meredith is a successful, 30 something, marginally happily married woman who gets kidnapped at gun point after witnessing a botched bank robbery. That should be exciting on some level, yes? There should be some tension building...wondering what will happen. Nope. I honestly can't care enough to skim to the end, and these types of plots are usually right up my alley.
Well written especially for a freshman author. By the end I was actually rooting for the bad guy and wanted things to turn out well for him. I wish that somehow Jeffrey could have ended up with the Sophie.
