Rate this book
Elizabeth Adams is a Los Angles native who has always dreamed of living in the Rocky Mountains. She loves western movies and riding horses, and dreams of being a heroine in a western film. She gets her chance for real life adventure when her mother disappears from Salt Lick, Colorado, after going there to sell a ranch she inherited.

J.B. Cooper (just Cooper) is under suspicion for killing his neighbor, Henry Harper, over a water dispute. There is no evidence to convict him, but the shadow of doubt hovers around him. He just wants to be left in peace.

Circumstances throw Elizabeth and Cooper together when he tracks rustled cattle to her ranch . . . . and discovers a body in the barn. Once again, he is the suspect in a suspicious death. Elizabeth is convinced Cooper had nothing to do with the murder of her cousin because to her, he s a true western hero. Together, they search for her mother, clear Cooper s name, and fall in love along the way.

Coloradan D'Ann Lindun knows cowboys. So it's no surprise she can write realistically and convincingly about Cooper, the hero in "Cooper's Redemption," a loner cowboy with a secret in his past that explains his damaged soul.

However, just as convincingly as she writes about cowboys, Lindun also creates the character of Elizabeth, a woman from LA who runs a flower shop and is about as fish-out-of-water as you can get in Colorado. In the author's capable hands, the contrasts between the two are lightly drawn without making either into a stereotype. I loved the scene where Elizabeth is faced with a meal that contains red meat and a baked potato loaded with butter and sour cream! Not her usual LA fare.

Cooper and Elizabeth meet when she arrives in Salt Lick, Colorado looking for her mother who left LA the month before to settle the estate of her uncle and hasn't been heard from since. Local law enforcement has been oddly disinterested in making progress in finding her and Elizabeth has finally decided to do something about it herself.

Everyone in town suspects Cooper killed Uncle Henry although he denies it. And he's the suspect again when a man turns up murdered in Elizabeth's barn. Elizabeth is the only person who doesn't believe he's guilty. And Cooper is the only person she feels she can trust to help her find her mother. Together they find what connects cattle rustling, the murder, the disappearance of Elizabeth's mother and the reluctance of the sheriff to take it all seriously. As well as love.

Suspense, a hot cowboy and cold Colorado nights--what's not to like about that combination?

Linda Lael Miller is my fave western genre author, but D’Ann Lindun catches up from behind very well AND fast. Her style, her voice and writing are smooth, well-researched / resourced. I'm more than happy I discovered her and look forward to reading all her books.

The story has a beginning, middle and an end; D’ann did very well tying all the lose ends. Loved the suspense. Couldn’t tell at any given time where the story went; in a few parts the story caught me by surprise. Conflict was build-up very well (oh boy, was I ready for Elizabeth and Cooper to tumble in bed loooong before they did).
Both main characters were believable, with inner strength, emotions and flaws. Loved Cooper from the first paragraph in his POV. Elizabeth came a cross a bit dull, average which I have a feeling that was the author’s intention all along. I warmed up to her the more I got to know her. She had a nice arc as well as Cooper. I worried at times that she was more interested in helping Cooper, losing the road to her goal, to find Lillian. Usually the hero is the one trying to convince the heroine to be with him, fighting for her not vice versa and for that alone her story is unique for its reversed roles.

If you love western romances D’ann’s stories are for you. Refreshing, witty and suspenseful it’s what the doctor ordered and “Cooper’s Redemption” delivered exactly that.

Another excellent romance and suspense book from a favorite author, D'Ann Lindun. Elizabeth comes to town looking for her mother. And of course, there's plenty of mystery. Right away I was drawn into the story. Cooper....Oh, man I felt for this guy. I knew right away he had a lot of heartache and secrets, and I hated the way the people in the town treated him. They looked down on him, made him out to be a bad guy. Thanks to Elizabeth and her faith in him, maybe things will change. But, it doesn't and won't happen right away. There's still a killer out there, there's still plenty of secrets to uncover, and Cooper is still in the shadow of doubt by many.

Ms. Lindun writes with such authenticity. She draws from her love of horses and it shows in her novels, which I love. It gives it such a real spin on things. The heat between Elizabeth and Cooper is slow, simmering. These two go through quite a bit before they give into their feelings. This one is sweeter in terms of heat level, and that works for me because I enjoyed the strong story line and the twists and turns. As I always say, you can't go wrong with a book by this author.

This was a fun read! Her mother has gone missing in Colorado, and Elizabeth Adams is determined to get to the bottom of it. She has gleaned all of her cowboy knowledge from the movies, so how can her assumptions be wrong? J.B. Cooper, on the other hand, has no illusions as to his standing in the community of Salt Lick – everyone suspects him of murder. Maybe even double murder. Ms. Lindun, with her usual flair for combining humor with tragedy, writes a compelling story, once again treating the reader to the vibrant world of life in the mountainous Colorado ranchlands. Well done.

D'Ann Lindun never disappoints with her uncanny ability to rope the reader in to become embedded in the story.
Cooper, a rancher, is a loner with a darker past. Elizabeth is a city girl who goes looking for her mother in Colorado, a very different place to LA where she was brought up.
As the story develops the mystery becomes more challenging and the passion between Elizabeth and Cooper ignites. The twists and turns in the story build the intrigue and keeps the reader guessing. There is a touch of humour along as well, especially the references to old movies.
A fabulous book I can fully recommend to everyone.
