The combination of years spent working with words in the secretarial field and a love of reading romances sparked Layla’s initial urge to write. Add to that the experience of reaching a landmark birthday, and you might say a mid-life crisis was born. Relocating from her native California to Texas in 2000 provided more time to focus on the craft. A direct challenge form a critique partner turned Layla’s writing toward the sensual side and she hasn’t looked back since. Writing erotic romance allows her to spread her creative wings and let her imagination take off.

Multi-published in historical, paranormal and contemporary, Layla’s sexy stories are mixed with a bit of humor or a tug of emotion, but always have a happy ending.

Layla lives in south Texas with her engineer husband and teenage daughter. Her other three children are scattered up and down California and having adventures of their own. When not writing or plotting her next story, she spends time reading, watching movies and traveling (so many possible locales for the next adventure).

Senna Whitefeather attends her first tattoo convention where she comes upon an intriguing gentleman who is constantly observing her from afar throughout the day.

The attraction between Senna and Chev, the mystery man, is undeniable. They go from talking and comparing tattoos to having a sexual encounter in no time. I think the story could use a little more character development which in turn would turn the plot into a great story about two Native Americans who share a love for their art.

This was pretty good as far as short stories go, not much to it, but I was looking for something quick to read and this was just that a quick read.

Whirlwind was aptly named! For a short story it was rich with detail and cultural aspects I found fascinating. Ms. Chase did an excellent job of providing background while building up the sexual tension between our two lead characters. Both of whom I loved! From the moment I read the firs page, I was hooked. Young, talented, and hard working, Senna Whitefeather was just the type of independent woman I love to see in romance. Hosting her first booth at a national tattoo convention she finds more than she bargains for when she runs into a mysterious stranger named Chev who draws her to him like a magnet.

The enigmatic, dark eyed fellow Native American hero was delicious. Intelligent, charming, and equally talented I liked him from their first accidental meeting. The two continue to come together, part, and circle again in sensual, innuendo filled conversations. A challenge to show one another the ink covering their bodies ignites a passionate scene that burned up the pages, and gave a deeper perspective of each character. Tattoos are a very personal thing, that often tell a story. I loved that Ms. Chase showed that to the readers.

Sexy, unique, this short is a must read.
