I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times that I had “nothing” to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.
My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology, something I try to bring to my books. My debut novel, Breaking the Nexus started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.
When I’m not writing, I’ve found a passion for blogging and interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading (of course!), baking, crochet, sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I have an incurable love of rubber duckies and stuffed animals, and I believe nobody should have to grow up if they don’t want.
Not usually a fan of stories with erotic or explicit scenes - this story however is stong enough to carry the mote explicit scenes. The characters are well developed and the worldbuilding is amazing. I may not be a fan in general of sexy scenes but this author can pull it off.
A fast, flirty and sexy read, good enough to make me sign up for anything else penned by the authot!
I really enjoyed this installment, Lindsay has delivered again :-)
Saia is a woman who know what she wants and needs and Achaius has his sight firmly set on her, you can feel the magnesium between these two and that they are links together as one could be.
I would defiantly recommend this book to family and friends
Warrior Unleashed is a novella that runs somewhat parallel to Breaking the Nexus as far as time frame. However, it should be read in between Breaking the Nexus and Waking the Phoenix. It is not a standalone. This novella is the story of Sha’s half-brother, Achaius and his mate, Saia. Warrior Unleashed bridges a gap between Breaking the Nexus and Waking the Phoenix. The reader will understand the characters and events in Waking the Phoenix, so much better after having read it. It also builds on our knowledge of Sha’s background and Mytheria in general. Achaius is an absolute alpha and sexy as hell. He seems to understand Saia better than she does herself. They’ve danced around an attraction and pull towards each other for years. Achaius had suspicions that they were mates, but until the beginning of this novella, he had not pushed the issue. However, someone is hunting sentinels and as Saia’s partner was just killed, Achaius gets a bit of a wakeup call. He sets out to convince Saia that they are right for each other and that they need to work together to solve the problems plaguing the sentinels. Once of the things I loved most about Achaius, was his understanding that Saia is not a damsel in distress who needs to be sheltered and coddled. He knows when to back off and let her stand beside him, rather than behind him. Saia is a tough chick. She doesn’t need anyone to carry her burdens, she can take care of business all on her own. As independent as she is, I could have easily seen her as being the kind of woman whom would need a tremendous amount of convincing when it came to accepting Achaius. However, it just improved my opinion of her when she saw the truth in front of her. And while, she continued to be strong and confident in her abilities alone, she was able to see the benefits of having someone who will constantly support you and be there if you are in need of comfort. I loved that about these two. They gave each other the freedom that they needed to be who they are, while giving to each what they need to find a neutral balance in their lives. Their attraction radiates through them and they definitely bring heat to the pages of this book. Their love scenes are steamy, with just the right amount of volatile passion and sweet loving. The mystery that unfolds just adds to my opinion that Lindsay Avalon has an incredible imagination. It went in direction that I would not have expected. This is a short read and I devoured it rather quickly. At the end, I couldn’t do anything except move right on to Waking the Phoenix. The author kept me hooked all the way through.
This is a short novella written in the same time frame as Breaking the Nexus, but is set in the Mythrian Realm. I LOVED IT!
Saia Makan is Tempestuous Sorceri (one who can control wind and weather). I really liked this character. She is smart and sassy, with a kick ass attitude that I liked. When someone or something starts causing trouble and "accidents" begin to happen and her partner gets killed, she finds herself partnered with Achiaus Rilke against a killer in a dangerous cat and mouse game.
Achiaus Rilke is a panther Chimerae and half brother to Sha Phoenix. I liked this uber sexy shapeshifter a lot! He has a wicked sense of humour and a protective streak a mile wide. Being a Sentinel, he's a warrior through and through!
I loved Breaking the Nexus, so when I found out that this book was being released, I downloaded a copy. Unfortunately, it's taken me a while to get to it. However, I finally got to read it and I fell in love with it! I loved the way the story unfolded. The Mythrian Realm was described in such a way, I felt that I was actually there! I'm a huge fan of shapeshifter romances and this story had that and more! There were several twists that I didn't see coming, but there were a few that I guessed correctly at. However, this made no difference to the overall enjoyment I felt whilst reading the story. The sexual tension between Saia and Achiaus was palpable. The cave scene was HOT! My only quibble is that the story was too short - I wanted more! The ending segues back into the end of Breaking the Nexus, and I am now looking forward to reading the next novel in the series, Waking the Phoenix.
Lindsey Avalon is a fantastic author. Breaking the Nexus was her debut novel, but it is her ability to tell a fantastic story and spark my imagination which has made me a huge fan! I love the way her characters come to life, and the way the story flowed; it is a fast paced wild ride! I am, however, dying to read the next book and disappointed it hasn't been released yet! PLEASE could you get a move on Ms. Avalon? Thank you!
I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 17 due to the HOT, spicy scenes. However, I HIGHLY recommend this book if you love hot and sexy paranormal romances. - Lynn Worton
My Review: I read the first book in this series and while I enjoyed reading this one, I kept questioning all the way through it, how it tied into the first book? Just know, going into this book that the books collide at the end and everything becomes clear as to how the two books relate.
This book is about two Sentinals in the Mythrian Realm: Saia, who controls air currents, and Achaius, a panther shifter. The book opens as Saia is avoiding the memorial ceremony for her partner who was killed. Sentinals are mysteriously dying and Achaius doesn't think it's a coincidence although all the deaths have looked to just be tragic circumstances. As a panther shifter, Achaius doesn't last long with partners so he's constantly switching them up. He and Saia have been friends a long time and he's worried that something is going to happen to her so he offers to be her new partner. And of course, then something does happen to Saia...a whole lot of somethings. Someone is trying to kill her.
I liked that Saia and Achaius have their friendship. This is a great friends to lovers to even more story. Saia has a lot of vulnerability throughout the story, but she's still such a strong character and made even more so by her bond to Achaius. I think this is one of the reason I love shifter stories so well...that mental bond they find with their mates is awesome...and just so freaking romantic. That bond between these two developed slowly over the story...so slowly that they didn't even realize it was there until they were in the midst of life and death. Love that.
Like I said, the end of this book collides with the end of book #1 and I cannot wait to see where the story goes from here. Throughout the books, there's this huge over-arcing mystery about why the separation between the human realm and the mythrian realm are collapsing. Lots of little questions creep up as the stories evolve and I can't wait to see what's going on when the answers start flowing in...Bring on Book #2, Waking the Phoenix.
This novella centres around Mythria whereas the first book concentrated on what was happening in the human realm.
Saia is a Sentinel and a Sorceri who is grieving after Treven, her Sentinel partner was murdered. She doesn't like to show her emotions and is trying to cope with her grief by carrying out relentless practice training.
Achaius is a Panther Shifter who delights in teasing Saia and when he tries to distract her to take her mind of her sorrow, she is surprised. They have always circled around each other ignoring their true feelings.
The Nexus which is the gateway between the human realm and Mythria also acts as a barrier between the two but it's beginning to have some cracks which could create havoc. The Sentinels are being targeted and some have died in the process and whoever is responsible for the chaos is now intent on going after Saia. Achaius' main goal is to protect Saia and shows his protectiveness towards her.
Whilst the battle is taking place, the tear in the Nexus gives them a glimpse of the human realm and to their surprise Sha, Achaius' half sister is in the middle of her own battle. There it ends, exactly where book one ended.
I really enjoyed this Novella, which gives a good overview of life in Mythria and the battle taking place there. I also like the way the relationship between Achaius and Saia develops despite their constant banter, which on its own makes for interesting reading. I would recommend this series to adult lovers of the paranormal. I look forward to reading the next instalment.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read from this talented author and technically is part of a series but I had no difficulty in understanding the world it is set in. Simply put every supernatural creature I have heard about or imagined is real and living in their own world "beyond the nexus" and separate to our human existence but these two worlds are starting to collide. This is quite a short story about two warriors(sentinels) who are sworn to protect both of the realities. Achaius is a vicious male panther chimerae who suspects his fellow sentinels are being murdered . He is desperate to protect Saia a fellow sentinel who as a powerful Sorceri can manipulate currents of air. Their mutual attraction is off the charts but is it more than that? Could they be destined for each other? Only by working together will they begin to unravel the mysteries around them and find out who is out to cause death and destruction. This is a satisfying romance with the very hot couple getting their HEA but it leads on very nicely to the next book (waking the Phoenix) and I now have to go buy the previous book (Breaking the Nexus) as I need to find out how it all began. As a tease Into the world that ms, Avalon writes about I found this book to be very intriguing and if you have already read and enjoyed her work then I am sure you would be delighted with this insight. I would rate this a 4 as it is quite short but will definitely read more from her.
I'm not going to bore you with a synopsis. After all, we are here on a book site, so I'm assuming we can all read what the publishers/authors/little elves in your computer have spent time already crafting in order to entice our purchasing dollars before we click "buy".
I bought "Breaking the Nexus" and "Warrior Unleashed" on a whim. I followed a link on Facebook and then after purchasing (without reading the synopsis) and then said to myself--oh crap...this really isn't my style of book at all! I'm more of a science fiction/romance geek than paranormal fan. Magic in my books usually gives me a case of "grumpy cat" face. (Imagine meme here because I refuse to post one)
So, that being said, I surprised myself by really enjoying both books. I read "Breaking the Nexus" first. It took me a couple chapters to really get into the flow of the book, but once hooked, I found Lindsay Avalon's writing to be fast-paced, descriptive, and delightful. Her style of writing brought the character's feelings and intentions to life. "Warrior Unleashed" continues the saga of the Mythrian realm. The characters are interesting, the pacing is fast--I loved it!
"Warrior Unleashed" is a supplement to the Mythrian Realm. It can be read as a stand alone book, but is more enjoyable read in conjunction with "Breaking the Nexus"
I read book one, Breaking the Nexus about a year ago and loved it. Warrior Unleashed takes us back to the realms and show us a bit about what has been happening there while Sha (from book one) is stuck in Earth. We get to meet her brother, Achaius, an amazing hot panther shifter - I've always had a thing for the cat shifters. He has set his sights on a Sentinel by the name of Saia and is determined to have her.
Unfortunately, Sentinels are dieing, and he suspects something is up. There is a lot of excitement in here and a lot of love. Predator shifters seem to be a territorial protective bunch and that doesn't always mesh well when they fall for a kiss-ass alpha female type. Their banter is amusing and you can tell they enjoy it as well.
Saia has several near death experiences in this novella, but Avalon was able to keep everything unique and different. The villain was a HUGE surprise, yet made perfect sense. And I just know something more is going one that we just haven't been told about yet! I'm dieing to keep reading.!
This was a great look back into the series and I hope to see Book Two, Waking the Phoenix, which looks like it will be out soon.
This book was given to me for a fair and honest review.
This book runs parallel to Lindsay's first book "Breaking the Nexus" and features Sha's brother Achaius and a Sorceri and Enforcer named Saia. The same havoc that is threatening to destroy Earth is threatening Mythria and everyone is trying to save their world...except for the person trying to tear it down an murder Saia at the same time. Warning - there is a cliffhanger at the end of this novel, but instead of making me angry, it just made me want more!!!
This book had humor, some very hot scenes as well as moments of angst and worry. Achaius is a shifter and the descriptions of his panther are amazing. Saia has power over air and can even fly. The combination was hot, hot and hot.
My favorite parts are when Saia and Achaius share the reason for their phobias and Achaius admits that Sha tricked him by putting a snake in his bed. Hysterical. And it gives an insight into Achaius' motivations and character. I also loved the cave Achaius brings Saia into to tell her his theories. The description was fantastic. And the scorchingly hot scene that happened after....well, whew!!!
I can't wait for the next book and everything else Lindsay will write. Kudos, applause and congratulations.
I absolutely love the cover... However, I feel that the girl- who is supposed to be representing Saia- is just a little TOO hot. That being said, it definitely catches my interest and made me want to read the story.
Now, onto the book's contents.
I am going to keep the rating secret on this one until the end of the review, for no other reason than I feel that this book should not revolve around what rating I am going to give it. I want to talk about the content and how it made me feel, first.
Hottie, Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot, Hot! Did I mention hot? I did? Well, how about exciting, intriguing, mystifying, mesmerizing, pulse-racing, fascinating, amazing... How many more words can I use to describe this book? Because, it deserves all of them. This was so freakin' fantastic, that I may re-read it... and I NEVER do that! Lindsay Avalon has knocked it out of the Paranormal ballpark once again. She is fast becoming one of my all-time favorite Paranormal writers.
Keep it up, Lindsay! Best-selling material indeed.
Now, all that being said, my rating for this book is...
Love this book! Very entertaining and an enjoyable book!
This story is in the same world as the first book, Breaking the Nexus, but this time Sha's brother Achaius and a woman named Saia are the main characters. Sentinels begin dying under mysterious circumstances, but everyone thinks they are all unrelated and accidents. Everyone believes this, but Achaius. He thinks there is more to this. He believes someone is targeting Sentinels and is looking for a way to stop it. He is attracted to Saia, as she is to him, and will do anything to make sure that she doesn't end up like one of the other Sentinels that "died" in an accident. He is an panther Chimerae and he and his panther both agree, they must keep Saia safe.
I loved this book! It was fun, entertaining and a very enjoyable book to read. It's a page turner that will keep you in suspense! I loved Sha's brother! I was worried I wasn't going to like the book because it wasn't in Sha's POV but I was happily surprised when I found that I did like it. It was interesting to see the world through Achaius eyes. I recommend to everyone!
Warrior Unleashed takes place in the Mythrian Realm while Sha from Breaking the Nexus is in the human realm. Gives us insight to what is going on. Saia is a Tempestuous Sorceri. Sentinels are getting killed and Saia'a partner was one of them. Sad and upset over his death Saia wants to be alone but Achaius, Sha's brother has other ideas. Achaius is a Chimerae and shape shifts into a panther. He has wanted Saia for awhile now and she never lets him close enough. He tries to get her out of her grief and hopefully make her his partner is more ways then one. He is determined to keep her safe.
Another wonderful book in the Mythrian Realm series. More of a novella. The attraction between Achaius and Saia burns hot and the sex scenes are scorchers. Really fills in the blanks about the Mytherian realm. Achiaus and Saia are both strong characters but together they are pretty much unstoppable. Great read for lovers of fantasy/ shapeshifers and erotic romance.
This novella is a pause in the story of Sha and Connor to introduce Achaius, Sha's half brother and Saia. Their adventures are filled with mystery, danger, suspense and a love story. United, Saia and Achaius attempt to protect the Nexus barrier separating the Mythric world from the human world. All the surprises, suspense and challenges brings them to the point of the cliffhanger of book one. Now Sha, Connor and a mysterious third person joins Achaius and Saia in the Mythric world in an effort to overcome the evil bent on destroying the Nexus in order to destroy the human world.
Ms. Avalon continues her breathtaking narration of a fantasy world with otherworldly characters blessed with human emotions of fear, anger, possessiveness, love and joy. The pace is swift with twists and turns to surprise and to keep you hanging on. Now we are ready to begin book two....whew! I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.
Once again we visit the Mythrian Realms, only this time the story stays there rather than transporting us to Earth as in Breaking the Nexus, book one. In Warrior Unleashed we meet Saia and Archaius, another dynamic duo comprised of magical beings. Saia is not a whimpering damsel, but a strong, take-charge heroine. She isn't in need of rescuing but she is in need of love. Enter Archaius, who desperately wants to be with her but is too chicken to say anything. Things change rather quickly for our leading couple, as they overcome some rather imposing obstacles and try to save not only themselves but the world as they know it. This is a novella, so the short length is to be expected, although I definitely wanted more! This is considered book 1.5 in the Mythrian Realm series but can be read as a stand alone and enjoyed just as well, albeit with a slight bit of confusion near the end.
Warrior Unleashed by Lindsay Avalon - Book 1.5 of the Mythrian Realm.
When Sentinels begin dying under mysterious circumstances, the deaths are believed to be unrelated. One man a panther Chimerae, Achaius Rilke sees what no one else does they are all related. When Saia Makan a Sorceri partner is killed, Chimerae and Saia become partners and fight the attraction they have been fighting for years. Saia becomes a target and the action in and out of bed begins!
What a great story, this book comes after Breaking the Nexus. A totally fantastic book. This follows suite in the fantastic realm! I highly recommend this book.

A quick read, this book follows Breaking the Nexus and provides an insight into Achaius & Saia, ready for book 2, Waking the Phoenix. A thoroughly enjoyable action packed read, this book kept me turning page after page, and the hot scenes definitely got my imagination going. The characters and world are well developed and I loved the chemistry and bond between Achaius & Saia – Saia definitely isn’t one to be told what to do. If you’ve read Breaking the Nexus then this book is a must read to continue the story.
I received an e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This book explains a lot! I feel like things are finally coming together but I seriously can't wait for the next book. These books are absolutely amazing! I love the magic and the mystical creatures it's got it all! And the battle is huge! The sex is beyond HOT and the characters yummy as well! Chaos is happening and the ending of this book makes the ending of the first book make sense!! Hehe I love it and I can't get enough of these books! They feel so real and you can almost feel everything! It's just mind blowing!! Yet again there are just not enough stars!!

What a great story, this book comes after Breaking the Nexus. A totally fantastic book. This follows suite in the fantastic realm! I highly recommend this book.
Warrior Unleashed was a wonderful paranormal. A thriller and a romance all bundled together. Short, but action packed. Achaius and Saia have an undeniable chemistry that they have been ignoring for too long. Saia, in her grief, her guard down, turns to Achais and their passion explodes.
Intriguing, this fast paced story line drags you deep into the this well written love story. A wonderful segue into the Mythrian Realm, I'm definitely looking forward the next. Luckily Lindsay persuaded me to buy both when I met her!
I love this book as much as the first one! Saia and Achaius have me falling in love all over again. I have to admit I was skeptical when I first started this book ( because I loved the characters in book 1) but I was soon sitting on the edge of my seat as the action unfolded. The suspense had a touch of humor that had me chuckling out loud. I loved loosing myself in Avalon's books, the rest of the world fades away and today it was replaced with her vivid discription of the Mythrian Realm.
A very enjoyable story. Although it was short, it did not feel rushed in any way. Two stories merge into one by the end of this book. A definite read if you enjoyed the first book. Saia's character is strong, funny, and still able to bend to her mate which makes her likable when others can come across as annoying and caustic. Thank goodness the next book is out. I will be moving onto it now. However I will be eagerly awaiting the next one after that as it is not out as of yet.
When I was reading this book I had forgot that it was a spin off from book 1. The story can be read first or by itself, its that good. It wasnt until I was toward the end that I went "OOOOOOOOh" (insert face palm). I love all the characters that have been introduced in this series. I cant wait for the next book!!!
This was pretty good. But these two got together very quickly. Not that I had an issue with this. Unfortunately it ended very abruptly. Hopefully book two will come out soon so that I can find out what the heck happened. Overall it was fast paced and had plenty of action and some lovin.
I loved this book. At first I was lost, knowing this was part if the series. But it takes you right to the story of "Breaking. the Nexus " and I truly. loved. the story if Achaius and Saia
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review
This was my first Lindsay Avalon book, and wow! I read this book in just a few hours...I was totally glues to the pages waiting for the next situation to arise...Very awesome book...I plan to expand my reading list to include many more of Lindsay's books..
Short quick read about Saia and Achaius and how they came to be together. This one bridges the gap between books a bit allowing you to see more of the characters you'll see in book 2.
The fight hard and fall for each other even harder. I enjoyed this novella.
What an awesome book - its focus is on Sha's half brother Achaius and Saia. These two try to protect the Nexus barrier separating the human and Mythric world. Definitely a must read and will leave you wanting to read Book 2 in the series. Would recommend to everyone.
