Stolen Flame

Rate this book
Vivian is excited about this weekend. Why wouldn't she be? She is finally turning twenty-one, and she knows for-a-fact that Liam, the man of her dreams is in love with her too. On the eve of her birthday, her world comes crashing down when she is taken from her home.

Now, instead of spending her birthday in Liam-heaven, she learns that she will be forced to take part in The Chamber, a lavish sex club for the world's richest and most powerful men. She finds early on that she will not suffer her sentence alone. With the budding sisterhood of the six other women taken at the same time, along with an unexpected ally, Vivian will discover an inner strength and love that she never knew existed.

Stolen Flame is part of a series, and while each book is interconnected, each book in the series stands alone. Due to the adult content and themes, this book is not intended for persons under the age of 18.

*** I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley.com, in exchange for honest feedback. ***

After reading the blurb for this story, I expected a dark, erotic story. Unfortunately, while this book dealt with some pretty dark subjects (kidnapping, coercion, rape, etc.), it failed to elicit any response other than incredulity. I spent a LOT of time rolling my eyes and skimming pages.

I enjoy a good, smutty read, as much as the next girl, but I like for there to be a remote possibility that the events might transpire as described. Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to buy the eagerness with which Vivian embraces her new life of prostitution. From virgin to slave with hardly a tear. I call BS!

The characters, and story as a whole, lacked depth. The connections between characters seemed superficial and unbelievable. The sex scenes were numerous, but seemed forced at times and gratuitous.

I also found it hard to take too seriously when the heroine kept referring to her supposed love interest as "Thunderdick". No, I'm not making that up! It was funny the first time, but got old quick.

Overall, I didn't care for this one. Even for a quick, smutty read, this one falls short for me. I just need a more believable storyline and characters that elicit an emotional response. Neither of those things were present here. In the end, I just couldn't bring myself to care.

Thank you Netgalley for this ebook copy in exchange for honest feedback.

I seem to be in the minority here.
While the love was an interesting twist, the awkward dialogue inside the heroine's head and outside it, the meh sex scenes, and the chamber of sex idea ruined it for me.

The idea of love was cute and I did feel bad for the MC but she didn't really grow on me. Neither did her love interest really.

While the idea of sex chambers seems interesting the variety of sex that happened that wasn't much. I really was interested in seeing the variety but nope. I also would've liked a little background on how the chambers were started but I suppose not....ehhh....

Not the best but not the worst I've read.

We 'meet' Vivian as she is planning a weekend away celebrating her birthday with her best friends, one of whom is Liam, the man she is in love with and is planning on losing her virginity with that weekend.

That same night Vivian is kidnapped from her home and taken to work in 'The Chamber' an exclusive sex club for rich playboys. She and the other six girls kidnapped are told that they will be held for one year, at the end of which they will be very well compensated and unless they co-operate fully the kidnappers will hurt their families.

After this the book alternates between Vivian's time in the chamber and Liam's time spent looking for her. My question is, where is the angst? Considering the plot, there was very little angst except for some lamenting by both Liam and Vivian that they hadn't taken the chance to get together when they had the opportunity.

This one just wasn't for me, it was all just a little too implausible for me.

Excited for her surprise twenty-first birthday trip Vivian thinks nothing of the people arriving at her house at midnight and covering her head with a bag. This is her chance, she's going to use this surprise trip to win her best friend Liam's heart and finally lose her virginity. Except, the people at her house are actually kidnappers and she's heading straight for The Chambers where she will become a sex slave for the wealthy for the next year of her life. If she makes it one year and keeps it a secret she'll be handsomely rewarded. Clinging to the hope that not everyone is bad, Vivian finds hope in handsome guard Tyson.

I keep flip flopping on my rating of Stolen Flame and it's because I can't decide which part of my feelings about this book are winning. There are parts I loved and parts I hated, there's some general confusion about the main character and there were some scenes I just wanted more of. It's a tough book to rate, because we're dealing with kidnapping and forced sex slavery and a character who comes into her own in this environment. It is very much so a fantasy novel and I think readers need to take that into consideration prior to reading this one.

The general story line of twenty-one year old Vivian being kidnapped and forced in sex slavery at a rich men's heaven is unique, I've heard of similar ideas but none this thought out. The Chamber, or mansion the girls are living in and working in, kind of sounds like every sex club you read in books, except the girls are unwilling participants. I genuinely liked all of the secondary characters, each were different than the next, and the owner and guards of The Chamber seemed to really think they were doing something right. If you're like me and don't quite understand Vivian you will still find yourself turning the pages of this book, because there is so much you will want to know. Covering one years time, there is a lot going on in this book and we see that mostly from Vivian's perspective with the occasional chapter from her crush, Liam.

I could not fully get behind the blossoming relationship that Vivian finds with her guard. I would understand finding one person to lean on to get you through the year, but the insta-love between these two just had me confused. On top of that, for a virgin, Vivian sure is brave. She happens to be great at the sex life from the start and finds herself while held captive. While I liked her personal growth, I just never could see this girl taking to the sex slave life so easily. People do odd things to save family, but Vivian takes the cake. By the end I liked their relationship together, and would like to read further novels in the series, however I would like to see the characters be distinctly themselves and not quite as wishy washy.

Stolen Flame is a successful dark erotic novel turned romance and the first of the Seven Chamber series. If you are looking for a quick and dirty read, look no further. Book two and three are on the horizon and give further glimpses into the girls and their lives inside and outside of The Chamber.

What about Liam?

It’s Vivian’s 21st birthday and she is planning a weekend get away with her best friends and is excited because she is finally going to tell her friend Liam, that she is in love with him.

She is falling off to sleep she feels a hood placed over her head and thinks it’s her friends playing a joke. But it’s not. She has been kidnapped and is soon taken to a place called, ‘The Chamber,’ a sex club where she will be used to have sex with rich men. Lost and afraid she quickly puts all her trust into a guard, named Dominic.

Liam loves Vivian and after she is taken he searches for her also, by the words of his father, he finds out where she has been taken and exactly what she has done. He doesn’t care that she has been having lots of men. He loves her and all he wants is to return her to her home safely.

I really liked the authors writing style and the story was very intriguing and engaging. I, however was completely disappointed by the ending result. I despise when the author twists the story and prepares you for a happy ending that really to me wasn’t.

I received a copy of the book via Net Galley.

Ok first of all I was pulled in by the descriptions and wondered how the author would pull it off. It took me a little bit to get into Vivian's personality but I found I liked her self deprecating snarky ness. "Stockholm much?". I was waaaay impressed that the author got me to come around to believing that some one, Vivian, could seriously come around to her new circumstances but dw Marshall did it. Now as far as the hero goes. I liked Dominic, I kinda wish he was a bit edgier but he knew what he wanted and went for it. I'm interested to read the rest of the books, see if the "betrayal" plays out and how this all goes down with the other girls. Overall good read, good, story, will continue with the series.

I couldn't finish the book . This book felt like I was transported to a play boy mansion situation. At first I thought ok the heroine is stating what she sees when she saw some of guys that kidnapped her . She starts to describe how hot one of them are . So I make excuses that she has just turned off her fear it's a defense mechanism and now she's just describing what she observes . I mean she's not blind so why not ? But it's weird when she realized she was being kidnapped she took in all details being smart and all but then bamb she stopped behaving like a captive. I don't mean she went on defensive mode. No what happen was there is the same bad cop good cop scenario here but it's with kidnappers instead . What's more stupid that the heroine doesn't realize this whole thing is planned . The kidnappers planned this one of the kidnappers who behaves like a host. He clearly says they've planned everything so don't try to escape. So if they have planned everything and the host says he deliberately hired guards who are also kidnapper that are hot . Everyone is beautiful here for a sexual purposes that's how the host explained this. He obviously states everything out so obviously one guard is bad other nice . So you obviously understand it's planned there is no real emotions here it's all psychological mind games. But heroine is a dumbo and completely daft. The host says I chose your guard Tyson (good guy she likes) to take your virginity because I have seen by your reactions that he calms you. I mean the host drops so many statements like this and still she believes that Tyson is truly nice to her why?. Then there is the fact that the heroine treasures her virginity like it's a treasures thing. Then she go on and on about it like it's some worlds last drop of water left . Omg it's fucken annoying then I understand that she would feel bad about how she currently losing her virginity not at her own terms with a individual she loves. That if she had told her friend Liam that she loves him and not friend - zoned him then he would be her first. But why on earth is Liam thinking oh if I wasn't such a wussy then I would have already had sex with her. Yes that's what he's thinking not that the heroine shouldn't have been taken .NO he should of got a chance with her then she should have been taken.

This book is a big disappointment the blurb is great but that's where it stops. No wonder I was thinking why is there only 3 reviews on this book .

Don't read it I now I only read like 3 chapters then dnf the book but it was just that bad. I thought maybe I read a different book from the other readers but it was the same.

If you are a horny teenager and play boy mansion fan then go ahead and read it.

This is the first book in The Seven Chamber Series by D.W. Marshall. I will tell you that this book is unlike anything I have ever read. It is very well written and the story flows so well that you will be half way through the book before you even know it. Very well done.

Vivian is about to turn twenty-one and her friends keep telling her they have a surprise for her so when she hears people in her house the night before her birthday, she assumes that it is her friends and that this is part of the surprise. Vivian is planning on seducing her longtime crush, Liam as well this night. When a bag is put over her head, she just goes along with it, but soon realizes that these people are not her friends. Now she is worried. She is being kidnapped.

Vivian is taken to a place called The Chambers where no one uses their real names. Everything is explained to Vivian and she knows that she has no choice but to cooperate because they said they would hurt her family and friends if she did not.

Vivian is going to be used as a toy for men pretty much for 12 months. If she cooperates, she will be let go and taken care of financially after that but can't mention anything to anyone about where she has been. What about Liam? They were supposed to run away together.

Each girl in The Chamber is assigned a guard and Vivian's guard is Dominique, or Tyson as he is called at The Chamber. As time goes on, Vivian begins to have a crush on Tyson. She feels guilty though because what about Liam? This is a steamy read that will keep you turning the pages. Who will Vivian choose in the end? I can't wait for more in The Seven Chamber Series!

I stress in my review that this is my opinion on this book and this should not be the reason you skip this book. This book is written well. The language is geared towards the subject and is easy to understand and comprehend. This isn't a book where the author is trying to overuse "fancy smart" words to sound intelligent, the author wrote to fit what needed to be said.
To my critiques of the book. I am not someone who is naturally geared toward dark romances but I have read a great deal of smut so I know what I like to read in a sexy book. I feel that as some scenes were the right amount of detailed some of the "dirty" scenes were lackluster and were just "he finished". There were some scenes that I felt needed more details especially to play into the narrative of the overall story. Another thing that I could not understand was how **Spoiler** quickly Flame gave in. It was like she was scared and didn't know what to do and then BOOM Stockholm syndrome and she was chilling. This was in a matter of like 5 pages. I needed more peril in her mind. I needed her to want freedom more. This could have been achieved if we took out the flat tertiary characters. **cough cough** Liam **cough cough**. He gave nothing to the story in my opinion. I kept asking if he was even needed, I see why he was written but I still question why.
Although I have criticism for this book I truly don't have any credentials. I did enjoy this book but it may be a while before I finish this s

I enjoyed this book very much. The whole story is based over a year.
In that year Vivian "Flame" gets kidnapped the night before her birthday to be taken to the "chamber". The Chamber allows 35 well off men to pay for a years worth of sex with 7 hand picked women/girls.
Vivian is a 21yr old virgin, not for long once she is in the Chamber.

She meets Tyson "Dominic" who becomes her personal protector for the year, while she endures sex 5 days a week with men she doesn't know, all to protect her family for the next year before her release.

I found some parts of this book immature however it is from the point of view of a 21 yr old virgin experiencing everything for the first time. And im in my early 20s so I completely understood why certain words were used and why Vivian used "Thunderdick" to describe a man haha, we can all be immature.
I liked the fast pace of the story, something is always happening and I got to empathise with the 7 women in the story. I was hooked, reading this story while away with friends.

I would definitely recommend this book to adults but more in their 20s unless you don't mind younger writing.
I will look forward to the other books in the series.

Just finished this book and I'm in love! I usually don't read too many captive stories because they always end the same but this is different and so much better. It has dark themes, romance, multiple view points but not ever changing to where you get confused. I usually dislike series that change the main characters to the friends or other supporting characters BUT I'm actually excited to see how the other girls handled their time during and after the chamber! Nicely done Marshall I will be purchasing all the books in the series! This is a must read people!

The description of this book was interesting but I was disappointed. I couldn't take the characters or story seriously because the emotions and reactions weren't appropriate to the circumstances. The dialogue was awkward--it was formal, over-dramatic phrasing that needed more contractions. I was hoping for a darkly erotic story, but it lacked depth, angst and sexiness.

It was interesting story. I have never read anything like that. I will give 5 stars for story line and 4 stars for characters. I liked Vivian more, because Dominic wasn't acting like 27 years old man. He fell in love only seeing her face on videotape? Nooo. Not possible. So 4 stars.

Wow!! This story stunned me by altering my perception as the scenes progressed. The plot is intense and dark and pushes the limit of what I normally can handle in a story. This wasn’t by any sense of the imagination a typical erotic tale. The majority of the story takes place where the kidnapped girls are held captive in a sex club and are forced to satisfy 5 men, 5 days a week. While this is a chilling to imagine, the strength of the characters, particularly Vivian, compelled me to continue reading and I couldn’t book down the book. The author amazingly weaves a bit of romance into an extraordinary situation. As a reader I was clinging to the romantic elements as much as Vivian was desperate to hold onto her love.

** Spoiler Alert ** (It’s a romance novel – an HEA is expected)

After the girls are released – the book gets intriguing. Vivian champions the concept of embracing the bad things in life and continuing on.

Oh wow 😳!

Great book but was definitely hard to ingest.. I think having lady parts made it hard for me to read about women being forced to have sex with multiple men. I experienced so many emotions while reading this novel. Now I plan on contributing to help stop sex trafficking. Don't get me wrong, the book is very well written. Very detailed, like the girls having their own colors, having stylists, personal trainers and being pampered.. It was nice that Dom found his peace with Vivian, but their story is jacked up. I wonder what kind of research the author had to do to write these books. Even though I didn't plan on reading any more books from this series, I read the sample of Ivy's story and now I want to know about all the girls stories.

Awesome Book!!!

I really enjoyed reading Stolen Flame(The Seven Chambers Series)!!! All about Vivian aka Flame who is twenty-one years old college student & Dominic Luke aka Tyson who is thirties and head of security. Read about Vivian & Dominic and the unique situation they found themselves in!!! This is a page turner from start to finish! It has a lot of strong content that may be triggers for some people. There is a ton of emotion throughout including some toe curling incidents! It’s a very intense story!!! Looking forward to reading about the other sisters of Flame!!!

This is a new author to me and what a wonderful introduction. This is the start of a series and it does a brilliant job in setting the foundation for the rest of the series. There is a lot of suspense and twists and turns galore in this book. The main character is easy to relate to and empathize with and for. Heading straight in to book 2 now!

When I began reading this book I was a little in shock that someone would just take a woman/girl out of her bed in the middle of the night but that is exactly what happens to Vivian on the night before her birthday. Thinking her friends are kidnapping her as part of her surprise she goes along willingly till the silence makes her realize that the hood over her head is not from her friends. When her kidnappers realize she has caught on she is knocked out. When she comes too she is on an airplane going somewhere and no one will tell her anything, they knock her out again and she comes to in a room with six other girls. She is so upset when she realizes she may never see her parents, brother or her friend Maddie or her true love Liam. Mason, the man running this show explains if they do exactly as they are told no harm will come to their friends or family. They are each assigned a new name because they can't use their real names in the Chamber and Vivian becomes Flame, they are also assigned guards for their stay there and Flame is happy to see its Tyson who was nice to her when they took her. Mason explains the program to them and that they have to stay for a year and be sex toys for thirty five men who have won the lottery. Flame is terrified because she is a virgin but Mason soon singles out the virgins and gives them a special lesson to rid them of their virginity before they are introduced to the chamber. She is lucky that Tyson is chosen to get her ready for Mason but the size of Tyson scares her to death but he is gentile with her.
Soon she and Tyson become close and she feels brave enough to do this as long as he is right there watching her keeping her safe, but something goes wrong and he cant save her. You have to read this story to find out all of it because it keeps you going. This story has a lot of erotica but also romance, sisterhood and discovery. I can't wait to read Weeping Violet book two of the series even though this can be read as a standalone.

After reading the description of this book I thought I’d find it difficult to read. I am uncomfortable with any subject around torture and slavery. But this was a little different.

I found the story interesting and well written. It was easy to follow and characters likable. Yes there were a lot of sex scenes, but they were in the right places and flowed well within the story, they didn’t feel like the author just tried to be as dirty as possible, they actually belonged.

I think the reason that I found it easy to read was that Vivian’s imprisonment didn’t feel like slavery. On one hand she was kidnapped and held in a sex club for a year, but got some pretty good enjoyment out of it too and she also got to meet Dominic - her safety latch, her rescuer, her light.

They belonged together right from the start and it was lovely to read how their love blossomed.

On the other hand and hence the 4 stars – the story just isn’t believable. The whole set up of The Chamber I get and I understand that places like that do most likely exist. But surely no woman would behave as easily as these seven girls have in The Chamber. And if a guy falls in love with someone as strongly as Dominic has, how could you sit there and watch as she’d being used by so many others?

Overall though I have enjoyed the book and would love to read the next installment.

Thank you to Netgalley for access to this book in exchange for an honest opinion.

Imagine that your friends telling you that they have a suprise for you when they take you off to another city to celebrate your 21st birthday. So when you get woken up by someone putting a cloth bag over your head you think this is there suprise. A fake Kid-napping. So you actually laugh about it and giggle about it. And then a few minutes later you realize this isn't your friends. You are actually getting kid-napped!
Well this is what happens to Vivian or well FLAME. No body uses there real name in The Chambers. And there is one rule, You have to stay for a year and you can not tell anyone where you are when you get out!
This book starts out very goofy. Vivian is about to turn 21 and she is head over heels for Liam, her guy best friend. But she doesn't tell her and he doesn't tell her about his mutual feelings that he has toward her.
When Vivian gets kidnapped she falls head over heels with a another guy TYSON, or his real name Dominique.
What happens when her year is up? Will her and Liam get together like they planned secretely or will she give into her Flame personality and go for the 6ft 4ish tall handomnly guy that actually kidnaps her?! Read the book and find out.

I recieved this book as an ARC for my honest review !

This is book one in the "Seven Chamber" series. I will say that this is my first time reading D.W. Marshall writing. It was a very hot, kinky girl taken without of choice type read. This is a type of fantasy book so you have to keep that in mind when reading this.
Vivian is excited for the next day as it is her 21 birthday and her friends have a surprise for her. Vivian also has decided to try and win the heart of one of her male friends and possible loose her virginity to him. But that night she is kidnapped and taken with several other women to a secret location. Vivian finds out that they are going to be in this situation for one year while they pleasure 35 lottery winning men for their services. Once the year is complete they will be given money and be made to be very wealthy ladies. Each lady is assigned a "guard" to keep them safe from the men that enter into their chambers. As I started this review I said keep in mind this is a fantasy of sorts. None of the girls really protected and none really tried to escape...so that part for me didn't seem real and all seem to be okay with doing this for a year. There is kind of a love back story with one of the "guards'. If you are looking for hot, fantasy story then this is your book.

*ARC received from Wicked Moon Penning and NetGalley in return for an honest review*
This erotic romance is on the darker side. Twenty-one year old Vivian is expecting to be whisked away by her best friend, Maddie, and Liam, the guy she is in love, with to celebrate her birthday. Instead, she is kidnapped and taken to The Chamber where she will be used sexually for the next year. It isn't the promise of wealth at the end of the year that makes her cooperate, it's the threat against her family and friends. So begins Vivian's story of captivity and self-discovery. With an inner strength she never imagined she possessed, she bonds with the six other victims and discovers love she has only dreamed of with her guard, Tyson aka Dominic. Although the subject matter is disturbing, the author doesn't go to horrifically dark places as one might expect. I had mixed feelings about some of the characters but I guess their flaws just added to their believability. I couldn't put this book down and I want to read the rest of the books in the series.
