***Season 1's first collection, containing episodes 1-5***

I didn't see it coming, didn't realize how different everything would be within the space of a month. I would fall in love with one man, I would kill another, and I would lose my body, my mind, my soul - my freedom to them. I was an operative, a strong woman, someone sent in to save others, but under these two men I became weak - or pretended to be. I didn't like being weak, it angered me. If I had free rein I could cut my masters in two. But I wasn't there for pride, I was there to free those women and to take down the two men who sold them as sex slaves.

Those men needed to be punished

And I would do it

No matter the cost

Or how much I lost

Because I am Rita Kovak

SOME FACTS ABOUT ME:

I'm a New Zealander from Auckland, with dual citizenship (NZ and Croatia). I've also lived in Kerikeri, Singapore and Papua New Guinea.

CAREER PATH: I started off as a Graphic Designer, then went to Auckland University, where I got a BA degree in Art History and Italian Studies and a post-graduate Honors degree in Art History. I worked in the Art History field, then became a full-time artist, doing commissions. I eventually lost all of my senses and gave it up to be a self-published writer, publishing my first book in 2011. Though, earlier in 2023 I returned to art, shelving being a writer since book pirates made it impossible to earn a living from my work, excessively pirating my books. They basically broke my spirit. However, a very nice reader spurred me on to try again, so I'm attempting to revive my writing career.

BAD HABITS: I'm a major procrastinator, I stay up way too late, and I get distracted far too easily unless it's doing something I love. My mind never stops racing, can't turn ADHD off.

SPORTS: As a teenager my favourite sports were karate, badminton, and running. I also did unarmed combat and played in a touch rugby team (my gym teacher made me do the last one!) As an adult, I've couched soccer and have completed two marathons, numerous half-marathons and one 30K run, though I stick to the gym now, hanging up my running shoes.

STATUS: Married to my high school sweetheart (which he hates me calling him). We have two kids.

4***Suspenseful, Mind Fuck Stars

This book was a complete mind fuck, roller coaster of a ride. I just couldn’t stop reading it though, it was like I was watching a car accident in slow motion I couldn’t stop it but I continue to watch. The episodes were just fast pace and full with so much suspense and action I just had to know what will happen next. Thank goodness all the episodes are out already because I am not able to stop.

Rita Kovak, an FBI agent goes undercover as an assignment to be a sex slave to the Italian Mob. She purposely gets to Jagger D’Angelo, so she can get to his cousin Frano D’Angelo, the “Mafia Don” who she believes murdered her husband. Her husband was an FBI undercover working for Frano and when they found out he was a traitor they killed him. However, while she was held captive she discovers everything she believed was all a lie. Her husband was still alive and was a spy working for the mafia, he indeed was the son of one of the Donatelli’s evil mafia family who have no mercy on anyone.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jagger D’Angelo finds Rita unique and different and he can’t help liking her instantly. She reminds him of his first love. Someone, who was murdered long time ago by a man that had abused him for many years at a young age. Yes, Jagger had been sexually abused while as child and was abused some more throughout this book so much so that I couldn’t see clear thru my tears while reading this. I was a complete emotional wreck, my heart was in so much pain it hurt so much for everything that was happening to him. I just couldn’t believe it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Father Michael Donatelli, known as the “Padre” was a sick fucker who had abused Jagger and still didn’t want to stop. Jagger’s went to work for his cousin Frano to stay protected from the Donatellis, hi job was to abduct woman and make them fall for him, once they were trained as submissive they will be sold and shipped to their new masters. He didn’t want to do that job considering his abusive past but in order to stay alive he had no choice. He was so beautiful, woman and man lusted over him. He met Rita and again he needed her to fall in love with him. He had to do it before they would ship her to another mafia that was looking for someone with her same looks. However, he never got to trained her because his cousin Alberto betrays the family. Sells out his brother and cousin all for a sick lust obsession he had always have for Jagger.

Frano D’Angelo is devastated to find out that his brother, Alberto had betrayed him only to get Jagger for himself. Frano has to go thru a lot of trouble too, after being in charged somehow found himself in a jail cell at the mercy of the Donatelli brothers. They forced Rita to perform a humiliating sexual act upon him. Pay back is a bitch isn’t Frano?! He had lusted over Rita the minute Jagger brought her in and he wanted her. He forced her to have sex with him as well so I was not too upset that the tables had turned pretty quickly on him. Rita took joy on taking her revenge by doing the same thing that he had done to her. “Padre” wanted to take Frano as well on his sick way, it was not enough to tortured and have Jagger nooooo he wanted Frano too but Rita saved the day and attached him, stopping what I can’t even thing about right now. Frano is knocked unconscious, losing his memory, while Rita is sent to the HOUSE OF WHORES where Jagger was now being held captive.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Bianca D’Angelo was Alberto’s wife and was madly in love with Jagger ever since she met him to the point that she married Alberto just to be closer to Jagger. Jagger gave into an affair with her because he hated Alberto, his cousin had always been cruel to him his whole life so he wanted him to pay. Alberto let it all happened because he wanted a cover up about his sexuality. Bianca tries to poison Alberto once she finds out how sick he was and how he had raped Jagger and Jagger’s younger brother. She failed of course; instead she accidentally kills one of the Donatelli brothers which lead to Alberto almost killing her.

Frano finally wakes up from his coma and his memory finally starts coming back and he was told everything that happened. He was so sickened that his own family could betray him and his brother none the less. And what his brother did to his cousin Jagger and Jagger’s 18 year old step brother too, it was disgusting. He kicked him out of his home instead of killing him because he was still family and he cared for him so he gave him an ultimatum. He took Jagger’s brother to a safe house for him to be protected. Then he gathers his men and other men that joined him to bring down the Donatelli family once and for all for everything they have done. When he goes back to save Rita and Jagger he finds out they had escaped. Rita had almost killed her ex husband Mateo and took Jagger with her. I enjoyed that scene so much. When he finally returns home he finds that Rita is imprisoned in a slave cell and Jagger had been brutalized and raped by Alberto. He finally ends up stabbing and killing his brother which killed him so but it was justice and the best thing that could have happened after all the shit that went down.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I will be continuing this series for sure because I must know what will happen to Frano, Rita, Jagger and his brother. I want everyone to pay but I know lots of crazy shit is going to happen and I cannot wait to start the next set of episodes even if I throw up with so much craziness.

Overall rating for Episodes 1-5: 4-4.5 stars!!!

If you haven't read these at all, do NOT read beyond the short review for episode 1 because there will be spoilers!

So after two entire months of seeing my Goodreads newsfeed flooding with updates from this series, I finally threw in my lot and jumped into these serials. To say these episodes are seriously messed up but addicting is an understatement!!

Episode 1 “Taken:”

This episode completely captivated me from beginning to end!! I tend to get really picky with serials so it’s important to me that I think they’re worth following and reading. Well, I’m happy to say that this is one series I will be continuing with, even if there are an infinity number of seasons and episodes. The author packs an intense 71 pages filled with a complex, twisted plot, compelling but disturbing characters, and a cliffhanger ending that rivals those on TV shows!! A brilliant first installment to this series!!

Episode 2 “Discovered:”

The cliffhanger part is the least of your concerns! Just WOW! Another short and action-packed episode but with plot twists and revelations I did NOT see coming...I mean I was flabbergasted and gobsmacked to say the least! This novella is structured with Jagger and Rita POVs, and while it is a much darker episode than the first, I think the characterization part was a little frustrating. At this point, Jagger didn’t have many redeemable qualities IMO so having Rita complementing his looks every now and then hit a nerve. A most interesting turn, though, was I think Frano, who was a complete jerk and deemed villain in the first episode, is now THE most interesting character. I have this...anticipatory feeling about him, and can’t wait to see what the author has in store for him and the rest of these characters!

Episode 3 “Betrayed:”

I have to be honest here and say…this episode is my FAVORITE out of the ones I’ve read so far! Why? Not only was it set in a Frano and Rita dual POV structure, but the author slamdunked me with yet another revelation my mouth was left hanging wide open. I don’t know what will happen in the next episodes or what Jagger’s fate is (btw Alberto needs to be nuked with an AK47), I need Frano and Rita to be together!!! And not going to lie, these brutal cliffhangers are taking a toll.

Episode 4 “Poisoned:”

So after the way episode 4 ended, I just HAD to jump on this one to find out what would happen next...and I was...disappointed. Now don’t get me wrong, this was still a nail-biting, captivating episode, but it wasn’t up to par with the first 3. This novella is ordered with Bianca and Alberto POVs, and as much as I loathed reading from Alberto the Asshole’s view, I was glad to. I wanted to see his thought processes, how he viewed his actions, and what else made this man so evil and demented. I think the author did a fabulous job in that aspect. However, and this pains me to say, I did not like/agree with the plot events. They certainly made for a killer cliffhanger, but really now? Bianca had this grand scheme planned out and then...it was such a bummer. The part that saddens me the most is that she had to include poor Thierry in it! Even so, this episode is still a winner for me! It’s like one of those slow-motion train crashes you just HAVE to look at but you can’t stop. Another riveting episode!

Episode 5 “Escape:”

I think I’ve finally reached the point of numbness and won’t even be surprised when the author throws in another curveball. It’s something I’ll just expect from now on. I was mighty curious and questioning that just about everyone is secretly gay. Hmm O_O But other than that, this episode is perfect! Frano finally got his act together and took charge, Rita finally turned into the kickass FBI agent I wanted her to be, and Alberto got what was coming to him. In regards to the twist in this episode, I wasn’t that surprised. Okay I was surprised. But not too much. Though with this new piece of information, I’m really interested DYING to know how it will affect the relationship dynamic Rita has with Jagger and Frano. I personally am crossing fingers, toes, arms, legs, and everything else for Frano and Rita to end up together!!

“You are a soulless man, Jagger.”
“No, I’m a breaker of souls, someone you should run from.”

If I could describe My Master's Nightmare I'd say it was like a Sempre, Captive in the Dark & The Siren threesome.

Those men needed to be punished.

And I would do it.

No matter the cost.

Or how much I lost.

I...

... have been mind-fucked.

I don't think I've ever been so lost when reading a book. My mind was scrambled. By the end of the story, I couldn't tell which way was up and which way was triangle.
But I'm a sucker for these stories and I can't say I didn't enjoy the hell out of this one.

You think you have things figured out? Thing again. And then when you think this time I know what's going to happen... through that out the window too.
I was kept on my toes throughout the whole book, which was one of the most enjoyable things about it.

Second to that was Jagger & Frano. All I have to say is to them is:
You...
Me...

I can't say all the characters were enjoyable, and I want to give Alberto, Matteo and The Priest a big fat

but they were believable. All their mistakes, deceit, betrayal... you just couldn't help but be pulled into it. The plot was so thick you could cut through it.

My Master's Nightmare is not for the faint of heart. I was repulsed by some of the scenes, especially . But if you can take it then I'd say READ IT!

A Dark And Depraved Thriller

Wow! This was definitely one of the most twisted stories I've read. Told over several short serials, this story takes the reader on a journey filled with perversion and unimaginable cruelties.

Beginning with an undercover FBI agent "Margerita" serving as the bait, being kidnapped by a notorious human trafficking ring in order to infiltrate the mafia operation, the story quickly becomes much more complicated. Seeking revenge on the mafia don that reportedly killed her husband, Rita had no idea of what she was getting herself into when she volunteered to go undercover.

Soon, Rita is forced to question everything she thought she knew as her world is turned upside down. Mafia conflicts result in her and her captors changing hands. Despite everything, she suffers far less than others and eventually, comes to pity the man who kidnapped her, recognizing that he has been forced into this life the same as she has been.

Leaving off after a major turn in events, things are still very much unresolved at the end of these first 6 serials. This series is brutal and cringeworthy at times. I am morbidly fascinated and cannot put this story down. I will be jumping right into the next serials immediately.

Just in case you haven't read the author's disclaimer, this book deals with a plethora of dark, twisted topics, including rape (vaginal and anal), dubious consent, non-consensual sex acts, torture, M/M, M/F and any other variety of disturbing forced sexual acts you can imagine. So, if these are triggers for you then you will not enjoy this story. Be forewarned. This is not a story for everyone.

3.5 - 4 stars

This is a very different and unique series! When I read the blur that it's like a soap opera, I didn't believe it. But it was really so. A dark and twisted soap opera!!!!

The story is about a mafia family that they are busy with human trafficking and a FBI agent who tries to infiltrate in their organization. Needless to say that nothing goes as planned and nothing is what it looks like.

The first five books are all of them intense, dark, twisted, violent and full of action and surprises! I was quite shocked during the first two, during the third I became confused as I started worrying about the heroes and nothing was disturbing me anymore during the fourth and the fifth! Each of the book ended with a cliffhanger and each of them started exactly where the previous was stopped. The writing is wonderful! The author writes from different POV's depending how the story goes but it's not confusing or annoying. On the contrary it's really useful in order to understand everything that goes on.

I won't speak about the heroes as all of them are important part of the series and I wouldn't like to give anything away.

I definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes a dark and twisted book but be aware that the warnings are true!

This book was just so.... so.... twisted. I don't think I've ever read a book where I wanted 95% of the characters to die gruesome, graphic, long, drawn out deaths. I thought the D' Angelos were sick, sadistic bastards, until the Donatellis showed up and I was wondering who was on watch when these demons slipped out of hell because they were just soulless monsters. Poor Jagger, and it's pretty hard to feel bad for a sex slave trainer, but damn... poor Jagger. He was put through so much abuse and brutality, that I kind of wished he would die just to end it all, because even the future isn't looking too bright for him. Rita, well we'll just say, none of what she went through was quite in her FBI job description, but I loved that she was compassionate towards those who deserved it and didn't give up. And the twist and turns with her husband and her getting her memory back... what a shock. At least, I am a little bit more mentally prepared for the next book, because I spent more than half this book cringing and the rest, plotting numerous deaths. I hold a little hope that episodes 6-10 will be a little happier, but I know that won't happen until every single, rotten, low down, Donatelli is like, 20 ft,. under.

This is really a different kind of read, It opens you up to a hole new thought of things. It talks about the Mafia and Sex lot's and lot's of sex. I give this story so far a 4 only because I can't pick 3 1/2 stars :) I did like it don't get me wrong it just was the hole rape things that made it kinda weird. The author really did a great job in writing it and make the characters come alive in their own way. It was a different type of read for me. Yes I was hooked by Episode 3 and had to finish it I found that I couldn't put the damn thing down at all This book had talked about the mafia and have to say it was my first time reading about mafia's in general and I liked it :) I got past everything in this book and found it was a good book. The main Characters was great it had so many POVs I felt like I was getting more out of the hole story then what any normal story would give you.

Rating: 5 Stars!

I am literally speechless. I don't know what to think, what to say. This book just blew me away. I've been on a hunt for a good read, and I'm so happy that I stumbled upon this one! It's so different from anything I've read. Though I haven't fully read (only skimmed) Captive in the Dark and Sempre, apparently this book is a combination of those two plus The Siren (which I have read, and definitely recommend!). Maybe add in Killing Sarai and you've got My Master's Nightmare.

Some of the characters in Season 1

Unlike most novels, this one has "episodes" - which I like to think of as long chapters with different POVs (think Dark Lover and the various POV). This is a very dark and unforgiving story which follows the FBI agent, Rita Kovak in her journey of captivity in Don Frano D'Angelo's domain. Rita is one kick ass woman! I really enjoyed her character. I don't want to reveal too much about her or any other character because I was pleasantly surprised with all the elements in this book, I would feel guilty if I revealed too much!

description

Frano and Jagger D'Angelo! Oh my, my, my. Now those two got me going.
Frano is the don of the D'Angelo house, while his baby cousin, Jagger, is a slave trainer. While Frano is talking business with other dons, Jagger is in either America or training a newcomer in order to prepare them for their masters. Human trafficking is a BIG NO NO for me, but to these mafia men and women, it's simply business. And if it makes money, why should they care?

description
description

Though this is a work of art, and I definitely loved it, there were some scenes where I wanted to pull my hair out. You'll know what I'm talking about once you read it. The stubbornness of idiotic women, and the self-fishiness of men will make you want to scream.
description

What happened in the middle of the book, the "turning point" I guess you'd address it, made me so ANGRY. Before I give out the whole plot, I'll just give you a very accurate gif instead.
description

My Master's Nightmare is not for you romantic hearts out there. It is dark - full of betrayal, rape, and lies. You will be sucked into the Mafia world, unable to stop reading. You'll be horrified and repulsed at their actions. It is definitely an eye-opener - these things do happen all the time. If you think you can handle it, then read this book!

An interesting group of “episodes” revealing an intense look at the sex slave trading industry. It starts with an FBI agent intentionally getting captured to avenge the death of her husband but quickly escalates into a situation that no on could have predicted. It had everything you'd expect from a book about sexual slavery, then it added a few unique twists. Really the only problems with the stories is that they aren't long enough to do the whole plot justice. The characters are well written, the plot flows well, if a little fast and is very suspenseful. The twists and turn keep on your feet as a reader, just when you think you can figure out what is going to happen next someone surprises you and the whole outcome of the series changes AGAIN. Most books I've read in this genre tend to focus on a POV from a female slave, and while that's represented here, the author did a good job of incorporating the other side of the story, and throwing in a few surprises as well. I'm giving this series 4 stars, because I wish that the author had taken a little more time and built up to some of the curveballs without giving us whiplash from the previous one. That being said I'm definitely looking forward to continuing the series and would recommend them to anyone who likes this genre of books, as it's really not for everyone.

I was given this book by author for honest review. TV episode like bundle of mafia and FBI sex. Sex slaves, sex trainers, and rapist this book is loaded. Rita goes into mafia house as a sex slave in order to get info and revenge against the head Don. What she finds and experiences is not what she expected. Highly recommend this fast paced action story. Can’t wait to finish the season.

This book was crazy. Totally fucked up.

I loved it.

Rita Kovak is an FBI agent who goes undercover as a sex slave, not only to free the women who are being sold but to avenge the death of her husband, Matt. Matt was working undercover when he was discovered and shot.......or so it seems......

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Marita can write a sex scene. If you like your books erotic and don't mind m/m or the odd rape scene, then this ones for you.

I really liked Rita, she's an ass kicking strong female who is willing to let terrible things happen to her in order to save other women from the same fate.

I loved Frano. He is my new book boyfriend and yes he's nasty but he is fucking sexy with it.

Jagger.....I don't like Jagger as all. I do feel bad about all the abuse he's taken but he's just as bad for what he's been doing to all those women, even if he was "forced". Honestly when Jagger wanted Rita to kill him, I was thinking just shoot him and run off with Frano.

The strongest episodes in this collection are 1 & 2. They are both 5 star reads. They have the shock factor and they have amazing sex scences. The cliffhanger at the end of season 1 had me omging all over the place. Episodes 3, 4 & 5 are not as good as the first two but they will not disappoint and there is still plently of twists and turns to keep you entertained.

I've read all of Marita's books and so far this series is my favourite. Read it! :)

This is my review of Season 1 episodes 1-5.
Omg what have I just read. This is a pretty dark & disturbing book. If your looking for romance then skip this quick. If your looking for a dark book that you really won't be able to guess what's happening next then this is the book for you. Throw in a sick minded priest, a family of rapists, bdsm and an FBI agent and you've got yourself a roller-coaster of a ride.
I got totally absorbed in this book. It's a really gripping read.

Each episode is as gripping as the next. I thought I could read an episode a day but that didn't work because as soon as Id finished I needed to jump into the next episode.

Yes that's how I felt when I read these five episodes. I read episode one last year and was left hanging. I was so so happy to see that the first five episodes are in a book of their own. This gives us a great story. However be warned at the end of this I was looking forward to jumping into episode six.

...proibito come il peccato. Crudele come pochi. Sfacciato. Passionale.
Vita sfortunata come poche.
Alberto: tu DEVI CREPARE!
Fino a questo momento, serie promossa a pieni voti.

Wow just wow!!!!

This is a non stop ride that is just plain crazy... I love dark reads and this is very dark. If you don't like taking journeys in to the dark abyss of human depravity this may not be for you. I love the Italian mob aspect of this book along with the human trafficking story line.. I have to say the abuse the slaves endure was difficult to fathom at times. There are so many villains to hate! I'm having a lot of fun trying to figure out who actually evil and why.
This is a twisted story that grabs you and doesn't let go. I'm glad I found out about this series when there were three seasons written because it would have killed me to have to wait for the next season or episode. Lol I know I will catch up and have to be patient but for now I'm happy I have two seasons to devour now!!

Well I have to say I was totally blown away by this serial. Part 1 had me wondering where it was going but had I started read part 2 things started to fall into place. Part 3 had me jaw dropping, I was so taken back and amazed at how Marita had been able to go on. OMG part 4 was brilliant, I was wandering if I was in a dream, that nothing w
Had happened. In 5 I was totalling gobbled smacked.

I loved this book Marita has such a wonderful imagination, leaving you wanting more. You will fall in love with Jagger and you will feel his pain. I can't wait to read the next parts to see how it all ends.

Fantastic can't describe it, but if you can't tolerate violence this book is not for you.

Holy Crazyness!!! This read was insanely amazing!! I kept thinking "oh I know what gonna go down." But uhhh, yeah...not to much. This read takes you on a hell of a roller coaster ride and if you aren't one who is faint a heart, jump on, hold on... And get ready for one mind blowing read!

Over sexed soap opera with all the mystery of a gritty crime drama....At times these stories made me cringe but mostly they just kept me guessing. With plot twists around every corner of this fast paced adventure I can't wait to see what happens next.

ok, so maybe I guessed ONE subplot, the rest of it sped past me so fast I felt like I was trying to follow with my eyes the tips of Usain Bolt's shoestrings.

Perché quest’anno ho letto 95 libri e in tutti ho trovato qualcosa.
E poi è arrivata Marita A. Hansen.
Ecco…
My Master’s Nightmare è un telefilm su carta.
“Come ti chiami?”
“Margarita Petrov.”
Tu sei qua per me. Quindi, mi prenderò il mio piacere, così che tu possa capire che è inutile combattermi, perché ottengo sempre quello che voglio, e adesso voglio stare dentro di te.”
Questa serie è una totale esperienza di vita, di emozioni, non finirò mai di dirlo. E’ stata un pugno nello stomaco, perché da donna non è per niente facile leggere certe cose. Ti angosciano.
E noi sappiamo cosa vuole dire mafia. Sappiamo come lavorano e cosa fanno.

ENGLISH VERSION
I got an ARC copy of the book in exchange of an honest review...

This review will be difficult to write.
Maybe my hardest one.
Because ‘till today I’ve read 95 books and in every each of them, I found something.
A thought, a sensation, an emotion, a feeling. Something that made all of them unforgettable.
Even the ones I did not like. If you ask me a comment on each book, I’ll tell you something. Because I remember them all.
And then the dark romance arrived.
And then Marita A. Hansen entered my reader’s life.
Can you imagine physically feel a book? I don’t mean the paper, I mean the words. I mean the sentences, the descriptions, the names. You feel the smells, the sensations, the feelings, you feel the fear, the passion, the anxiety. You feel everything.
Everything comes out of the pages, like an invisible hand, taking your throat, squeezing.
There you go… MY MASTER’S NIGHTMARE, did that to me.
This book strangled me, and it still doing it, because I’m reading the following episodes.
I’m not used to be suck in a story. To feel myself as a part of it. I’m not used to ask myself if I’ll survive to what I’m reading, if the book will make me questions the world around me o if it will me make scare. If it will turn me on or if I’ll feel myself naked.
Ma this series, among all of the good things, put together two things I love: tv series and books.
My Master’s Nightmare is a like a tv series on paper. Each episode is told by a character’s voice, it’s a twisted and fascinating script about human mind, about its perversions, weakness, love, passion, joy, fears. The readers is dragged in a world of images that you can create in your own mind, you can make the characters alive, giving freedom to your fantasy. So I think that these books are really a true experience.
Rita Kovak is an FBI agent.. undercover. She wants revenge for her husband’s death so she wants, and I really mean wants, to be kidnapped by Jagger D’Angelo. She wants to be his sex slave.
“I’m Jagger D’Angelo,” he held out a hand for me to shake.
I ignored the offering, instead taking another sip of my drink.
He removed his hand. “What’s your name?”
“Margarita Petrov.”
The D’Angelos are a very powerful and dangerous Italian family. They are mafia. They trade women. They kidnap then, keep them lock up, rape them, torture them, physically and mentally, ‘till they are broken, just empty shells, just to sell them.
Rita gets her target. And everything is ok ‘till she looks into Frano D’Angelo’s eyes. And the world turns upside down.
“My eyes widened as his hands went to his shirt, popping open the buttons. He slipped the shirt off, allowing it to fall to the floor slowly, as though he was performing for me, a slow but terrifying striptease.”
I’m sorry, but I can’t go any further with the story, first of all because I didn’t finish it and second because I can’t tell all the details. And that’s because this review will be difficult, because it’s going to be about me and my relationship with this story.
Start a book just out of curiosity is my thing. I don’t even read the plots, I do often choose my books from the cover, because I like them, and I would never thought about reading books about this topic. After the Pepper Winters’s trilogy, I wasn’t ready. And eventually… I neened something which made me feel alive. I like the happy ending, I like the leading roles to have everything they want, but sometimes I just read 3 chapters and already know where we’re heading with the story. I was bored. I wanted a reader’s shock. The when Chiara Cilli posted the link of the Blog Tour, I decided to entry saying to myself: why not? At least I tried. It was just a reason to start reading the books, not the main one. Because I knew I would eventually read them.
And now I am travelling the tunnel.
I’ve read the first 10 episodes in a week, I’m practically ad addicted. I wanna know what’s going to happen. I wanna know the end. I wanna know if Jagger will be happy after all he’s been through, I wanna know if Padre will die, I wanna know if Rita and Frano will have everything they deserve, I wanna know if Alessandro will find the right woman… I mean.. I WANNA KNOW!
And when I wanna know, means just one thing: I LOVED WHAT I’VE READ. CAN’T GET ENOUGH. From the beginning to the end. Every word that crossed my mind reading.
“I would’ve gone slow with for you, would have made you groan in ecstasy, but you need to know I am not here for you. You are here for me. So, I will take my pleasure while you learn that it’s not worth fighting me - because I always get what I want, and right now I want to be inside of you.”
These books are a total life experience, full of emotions, and I will never stop saying that. It was a punch in my gut, because as a woman wasn’t easy to read this kind of thing. They’re scary. You feel like you’re a giant in a little room. When you’re in your bed, at night, you hear every single noise and you cannot think that somewhere something like that is really happening. You cannot think there are broken women out there destroyed by men raised to be like that: rip them apart in every way.
It’s not always easy to go move on without think about what you’ve read, making no bad thoughts about it, asking yourself how a woman had the courage to write a story like this, about slaves, raped and used, just like meat. Get into their feet and be believable, make you feel like you’re in the cell with them. At the same time, how it was possible to get into a man’s mind becoming so cruel and be able to do all those things, without second thoughts and without having problems with your conscience. That’s why I loved this series and I will always love it, because it’s raw but at the same time it tells you something: I can be delicate and deep.
This story analyses the two side: women and men. It fits them together, it amalgamates them ‘till they’re everything I wanna find in a book. A trouble truth. A fanciful realism, something that makes you think.
“But what I was doing with Frano wans’t fun – it was all consuming pleasure. I wanted it to stop, because it scared the hell out of me, but I wanted it to go on forever even more.”
And being Italian I thought that I was going to be upset about the same old story: Italy = mafia. We know what mafia means. We know how they work, what they do to get what they want. We see it every in day in the news or we read about them in the newspapers. We know the real mafia’s families. But I was surprised because I found myself appreciating the using of the words (I can’t count how many times I’ve read famiglia in these books!), because they’ve been written to give a true meaning, without destroying the reality of something real, like blood bounds and their cruelty.
“You’re the first slave I’ve even bothered to see in a long time. I’m not a trainer, yet I wanted to train you, still do.”
“Why?”
“You’re fascinating. You look like an old flame. You have fire. You’re not weak like those other bitches.”
“Don’t call them bitches!”
“Bitches are weak, they are slaves to others. I may call you one, but you’re not. You’re my woman.”
Ask me if there’s love in these books. Yes, there is love. It’s an important part of the story. There are some types of love: pure, delicate, teenage love, sick, out of mind, deviant, perverse, masochist, bloody, tormented, just a business deal.
So… I DARE YOU: pick up your kind of love.
That’s it. ‘Till next time.

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mafia Series, I'm not into the Mafia series, but I decided on trying this.

I enjoyed it, a very dark kind of way. It's interesting let's say.

I am finding this review difficult to write because I like a lot about this book at the same time I’m conflicted about some parts. Love it or hate it I challenge any reader to read this book without experiencing strong emotional reactions.

Before going any further it is important for anyone thinking about reading this book to know that it is very dark, graphic sex including rape (m/m, m/f, f/m), abuse, and general mistreatment of captives.

First and foremost the writing is very good. The author keeps the reader on the edge with the suspense and twists and turns. Just when I think I know where the story is going—BAM—there is another hill to climb or another pit in which to fall. I like when a book keeps the reader emotional connected. The concept of the story bundled as episodes is a ruse to cover up a serial but it is well planned and executed like a nighttime, cable channel soap opera.

I find that I’m a little confused about the characters. I go all over the place with my feelings about some of them. It is possible that is the author’s intent to have confusion because the mission itself is confusing.

Rita is a kick ass character. She keeps her head and her focus in a very bad situation. Rita’s character development confuses me in that she doesn’t have a lot of FBI experience. Why would the FBI send in a rookie into this hot bed? That part of the storyline doesn’t ring true. I admit Rita has skills but still…. She makes a lot of mistakes her inexperience coupled with her need for revenge makes her dangerous. I like her and I like when her desire for revenge rears its not so ugly head. Rita is strong but has a soft side. It is a good mix.

The D’Angelo men run the gambit. Jagger starts out as a despicable man who trains the women as sex slaves. As the story goes on we find out that he isn’t in this role of his own choice. He is an abuse survivor and Alberto D’Angelo threatens to return him to his abuser—a fate worse than death for Jagger if he doesn’t train the women. The jury is still out on Frano D’Angelo. There are hints that he might have a good side but I don’t know how good that can be in his line of work.

The villains are terrible, terrible men. These characters are some of the baddest of the bad and some of the women are despicable too. They are hardcore Mafia. Usually when I read mafia theme stories the men do some evil things but they have some good qualities too. All I see among these men is a challenge of who can be more evil. They often make my stomach turn.

Alberto D’Angelo is a villain without conscience. He is cruel, well more than cruel he is a sadist and enjoys inflicting pain. He hates being second in command and tries to finds ways to gain more power. I hate him.

The entire Donatelli family are evil personified. It surprises me that this entire family appears to be gay. In general I think that only two to three percent of the general population are gay but this whole family is gay or bi-sexual. Is that believable and still wield so much power within the Mafia? Could they really be accepted as Mafioso? I’m not sure. This family enjoys sadistic gay sex that is without question. They rape men as punishment and for their personal enjoyment. Some of the scenes with any Donatelli are really hard to get through.

As far as the story concept goes my emotions are all over the place now that I’m at the end of episode 5. I am not a fan of serials. For me it is good that the episodes are now packaged in a bundle of five. However, I’m not clear that the end (episode 15) is really the end. I don’t like serials that don’t end even episodic television has a season end even if it includes a hint to the theme for season 2.

Surprisingly Frano and Jagger are vying for Rita. At this point Frano is the stronger character but I’m not sure I will be happy if he and Rita are together. Jagger has my heart because he suffers so much. I want Rita to help him. It feels like she has the ability to heal some of his hurt but I fear the story is going to take me down another path.

The Donatelli family needs to be in prison at the least and, more to my liking, need to get a dose of their own medicine at some point. I want to see them gone.

I don’t know where the story is going next but I’m hooked right now. I need to read the next installment in the hope that I will get a better feel for these characters and the direction the story is going to take. If you are in a place that allows you to read very dark and violent stories you will like this book. If any of these dark topics are triggers stay away. It is very hard to read some of this.
