William wasn’t a normal alpha shifter. In fact, he wasn’t a normal shifter at all. He could spontaneously shift into almost any bird, animal, or fish on a whim. And though it was a source of stress to his parents when he was a child, as an adult, he’s learned to work his gift to his advantage. But that didn’t mean he had all the answers. The answers he was still searching for could only be found in The Lab that created him so many years ago.
Lorelei M. Hart is the cowriting team of USA Today Bestselling Authors Kate Richards and Ever Coming. Friends for years, the duo decided to come together and write one of their favorite guilty pleasures: Mpreg.
Shifters are an odd enough theme but this series goes one further and proposes individuals who can shift into most any animal. Such a strange approach. The rest of the book is a jumbled collection of suppositions, mpreg alpha/omega sex, and prognostications of potential evil that are not well constructed and don’t quite form a storyline. There is at least one more installment but I have no further interest.
This book had me from the first pages. I love good people vs evil corporations. Willy is so strong. He finds the perfect mate in Otto. There is family angst, reconciliation, sexy times, and yes, a baby. Although the problem of The Lab is not solved, the next book is set up nicely. I can't wait! You are going to enjoy this book. So, get it. Now!
The premise is great. However, if Willy had been certain he was sterile, why wasn't there more astonishment when he learned Otto was pregnant? Why weren't his dads stunned?
We're left hanging. I just hope we see the destruction of the Lab in the next book and that it doesn't drag on and on.
Rating: 3/5 🌟 Spice: 2/5 🌶️ Heroes: Otto and Willy
This is pretty much instalove like you'd expect with an omegaverse with fated mates. It's not necessarily my thing but this was enjoyable enough since it's a quick, easy read.
Alpha Willy hopes his new job will give him a chance to stop some evil men. Will meeting his omega mate Otto at a bar help or hinder his plans? Enjoy how Willy and Otto meet, discover “animals” in the forest and thoroughly enjoy steamy moments!!!
This was a short (75 minutes) story set within the River’s Edge universe. It had a few continuity errors, but overall was a quick and entertaining read.
This had so much potential if this book was given more thought and like was longer I think it would’ve been absolutely exceptional, but it’s just short and sweet and cute
I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a good start to the Beyond River’s Edge Series, set in the same universe of the River’s Edge Series. I thought Otto and Willy were cute together. This book is exactly the insta-love, low angst story that I expect from this universe. Willy is unlike anyone else as he was not only created in The Lab but he doesn’t just have one beast, he has many. He’s always planned to take down The Lab down one day but has no idea how he’d actually make that happen but he gets an email saying that The Lab is looking for interns with Willy’s exact background so Willy applies and decides to work with the enemy so he can hopefully find enough incriminating evidence so they can be shut down for good.
The last thing Willy expects the night before he starts his new job is to meet his mate Otto. Otto hates everything the Lab is about and after all the gossip he’s heard about since working as a bartender near the Lab knows that a lot more goes on there than is known. Otto’s a*sehole of a dad also works at the Lab in a prominent position. I enjoyed getting snippets of some of the characters from the River’s Edge Series like Willy’s parents Holden & Goodman and the River’s Edge Pack Alpha Alden. I’ve already pre-order the next book this series, The Lab: Daxton which I’m looking forward to reading when it’s released in July.. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
