A) I've been enjoying this one so much that my dinner went cold without me noticing.
B) I found one or two, which made my mum smile (okay, it may have been more of a smirk) which is something. Because when I showed her the first book, I believe a word abomination may have been mentioned by her. Just briefly.

I’m going to go ahead and let the book blurb speak for itself on this one:

“If you’re younger than 15 or older than 50, there is an 87% chance that something in this book will offend you.”

Actually, that estimate might be kinda low. There are no words to describe how much I adore Cyanide & Happiness. I’ve followed it via the interwebs since forever, so when I came across this little gem at my local Half Price Books there was no way I was going home without it. If the heavens had really been looking out for me on my shopping trip I would have been provided with a half price “comic-a-day” kind of calendar rather than a book, but no such luck : (

My enjoyment wasn’t lessened by much, however, and if I were more than a half-ass kind of reviewer I would have posted this yesterday in order to celebrate the birth of one of the creators – Rob DenBleyker . . .

Or if I really didn’t suck I would have posted it last week in order to celebrate my favorite time in the land of Cyanide & Happiness - “Depressing Comic Week” . . .

If you need some funny ha-ha in your life, I highly recommend a daily dose of this comic. You can find it here or here or even here.

And for all of you who are poised at the ready – anxiously gearing up in your best Keyboard Commando Sweatpants (© Mitchell the Book Boar) in order to tell me this review sucks or that I’m a horrible human for enjoying these comics - I say “duh.” I know that already. And also????

What a strange collection of comic strips.

Correction: What a strange comic strip.

A couple of them were funny. The rest were what I call "boy humor". Not 'male' and not 'man' because those require at least some level of sophistication. These were random and sometimes gross and just... not funny.

Clearly I am not part of the target demographic.

This was my first exposure to Cyanide & Happiness, apart from a couple of online comics. I laughed out loud several times and that's a good thing. The gags did start to wear thin or maybe they were less funny in the second half of the book. An enjoyable read.

Well that didn't strike me as funny. This set of comics did not resonate with me like some of their earlier work. I definitely didn't feel comfortable reading a few of these.

Not as good as the first one. There are a few funny ones in here if you have a dark sense of humor, but.... I found a lot of these more mean-spirited than funny.

I'm really surprised I've never read and reviewed this book on the 5 years I have been on this site... I'd swear I'd read it in that time, but apparently not... despite me knowing I read it when I got it in 2012/2013!

This was a Secret Santa gift from my manager at a previous company, (who sadly gave it away a few months later), and this is still considered by me as one of the most genius Secret Santa gifts I have ever got as I still have no idea how he knew I was a fan of the online comics!

Cyanide and Happiness is an online comic that doesn't pull its punches, so if you are easily offended I doubt you'd enjoy this. Some of the jokes in here are definitely on the side of very very black humour.

A few of my favourites would be the new ending to the rhyme "X and Y, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G", Arts & Crafts, and Spoonful of Sugar. Though the Jockey one is totally worth a mention...

Oh..my..God..
I'm not sure if I've ever read a more perverted, graphic, horribly ironic comic strip in my life..and I loved it! XD
Okay yeah, it was intense at times, but it's so worth the damage to your innocence!
It took me about an hour, probably less to read it cover to cover.

A few jokes are quite funny. The rest are vulgar, violent, vulgar again,,, violent again..... not my cup of jokes

As with Cyanide and Happiness (the first volume in this series), there's really not much to say about Ice Cream & Sadness: More Comics from Cyanide & Happiness that I haven't said already in the former review: If you like humor that's oftentimes transgressive or downright sick, you may like Ice Cream & Sadness; how much you like Ice Cream & Sadness is consequently rather subjective. That said, there were two related things that stood out for me about this collection that I didn't quite notice before: First, Kris Wilson and co. have excellent comic timing in many of these strips. On a related note, part of Wilson et al.'s comic timing is their arguable mastery of awkward silence as a tool of humor; in this case, there are far too many examples to go over. Add to that Wilson et al.'s usual styles, and I very much enjoyed Ice Cream & Sadness, much as I enjoyed Cyanide and Happiness volume one.

I checked this book out of my local joint-use library and I really didn't know that it was in book form. I remember reading this online when I was younger and still do. The humor is great and interesting. Although, some might think otherwise. No judging and I understand. It really lives up to its unexpected twists and ending of comics. I still like them to this day and read them every now and then. I never get tired of cyanide and happiness comics and its animations as well. Also, the last three pages were informative about its creators. It was easy and simple to read through. Some I have not read before and I still love the artwork of the comics.

I used to read Cyanide & Happiness all the time when I worked in tech. Webcomics weren't blocked, so most of us had 20 or so that we followed. Cyanide & Happiness was one of mine. So, when I had the option to swap for this book, I jumped on it. I wanted to see if it was what I remembered. Short answer yes, longer answer, yes, but it hasn't really aged well. Sure there's still some funny bits, but most of it I went through going, okay, I could see how someone in the early 2000s would have found this one funny. It's not timeless, and if you're not in the right mood for something like this, better to just go watch Badger Badger, Foamy, HomeStarRunner, or something like that and leave it be.

Meh. I've always enjoyed the few Cyanide & Happiness comics I've come across over the years and I had high hopes that this book would be hilarious but it definitely was not. I had probably two laugh out loud moments while reading and the rest of the comics were just full of immature humor that really wasn't funny at all. I can handle immaturity, but it at least needs to be funny. I really don't get the appeal and I'm kind of annoyed I spent $1.99 on this.

Cyanise and Happiness was written in 2010 and is a picture book.
this book will be great in the classroom for silent reading when students will have the option to read a comic book instead of a chapter book. many students may feel more intrigued to read when it is a comic book so this will definitely encourage reading.

Entertaining

Yeah, this is dark, silly, exceedingly off the wall, and an abuser of puns. That being said, I laughed too much.

Okay

This was okay for what it was. Most of the book isn't funny. But there were a few comics that were. Oh well. Can't win them all.

More depraved madness from the insane and unashamed crew. Still so funny you will feel guilt at laughing at at least a quarter of these comics.

Love it!

These guys never disappoint. I don't recommend as late night reading waiting for your kid to fall asleep. The random outbursts make the whole process take a lot longer.
