Gathers religious poetry by Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Harriet Beecher Stowe, the Brontes, Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Stevie Smith
"Out of my sorrow I´ll build a stair, And every tomorrow will climb to me there
with ashes of yesterday in its hair
My fortune is made of a stab in the side my debts are paid in pennies of pride
Unminted coins in a heart I hide" Leonora Speyer
This is basically a collection of poetry, mostly about death, by female authors of 19th and 20th century. I liked that with each of them a short introduction about their life was included, but I can´t say I enjoyed all of the poems, especially the religious ones. But some of them I really liked, especially the works of E. Nesbit and Leonora Speyer. They are a bit heavy tho, so I recommend reading only a couple of these poems a day. 3*
