I have always found chakras fascinating. They are the seven horizontally spinning disks of energy that exist in our bodies from the base of our torso to thetop of our heads. Each is identified by a certain color and certain traits. To name a few--base chakra: red; integrity, security; heart chakra: green; peace, compassion, forgiveness; crown chakra: lavender; faith, gratitude, patience. This book is particularly interesting because it is written by a medical doctor who writes quite matter-of-factly how one can tap into any of the chakras for healing, increased spirituality, insights and well-being. "Spirituality is a river of clear, sparkling consciousness. A stream of light. My connection with God. My connection with the whole universe." Dr. Davies describes how to tap into this spirituality and self-discovery through the chakras, and also with the aid of crystals and angel cards. (I went out and bought a deck of angel cards because, after all, this was suggested by an M.D., no less) Her methods consist mostly of meditation through the chakras as
well as mantras that relate to the specific kinds of traits associated with the each chakra. For example,in working with the solar plexus chakra (yellow: knowledge, enpowerment), she recommends meditation with affirmatsion such as "I open my heart and mind to receive the power of the universe which I use for higher good . . " (126). I especially like her chapters on the throat chakra (turquoise: communication, creativity) and the brow chakra (indigo: inspiration, imagination).
How powerful, peaceful and creative we would all be if we put these techniques to use!
