This is a darling book. It is a brief instruction manual for dads how to interact with their daughters from the early years through adulthood. Written in the style of a "how to" book, it contains 101 tips or instructions. Each is simply presented, with warmth and humor and encourages the man to step out of his comfort "man zone" and just connect with his little girl (no matter her age). Each tip or subject is generally a single page, front-and-back. They present the tip or activity, delve a bit into why, includes a verse or two from the Bible in support, and then wrap up with a paragraph or so more of personal story or explanation.

I can see this book being used in several ways. As a daughter, I read through front-to-back, fondly remembering special times my Dad and I had (and still have) together. Others may keep it near their chair (or throne, if you get my meaning) - pick it up, read a few pages for entertainment, and set it back down. Others still might find themselves near panic - "I have sole responsibility for my daughter for a few hours, what can I do to keep her from screaming" and voila - instant game plan for the evening's activities.

Mostly, I think this book helps a man guide his daughter's expectations of the kind of people she will want in her life as an adult. Following Dale and Jess's tips, you'll build a rock-solid foundation to last the young woman's lifetime. She'll know how it feels to be respected, strengthened and truly loved, making it easier for her to build relationships with others who will treat her similarly. As a parent, that's pretty much my dream for my daughter.

Lovely book - entertaining, thought-provoking, (did I mention entertaining?!) and could literally change your relationship with your child overnight. I give it 5/5 stars, and may all who read it be blessed.

Read this book on vaction as a quick read.
I wanted to like the concept of this book but found it hard to get through some of the sexist comments and chapters such as ..."buy her chocolate" or "be prepared to buy a lot of "hairbrushes." There are maybe 20 good ideas in here out of the 101 but the rest read like these guys did not have sisters nor were around a lot of modern free thinking women before having kids. Plus trying to get in some biblical quote or reference every chapter got old after the first 15 of them.

If you have a daughter, you need this book. Written by two dads who have been there, each tip is filled with practical and useful advice to apply to your relationship with your daughter. The tip is outlined and then the rest of the chapter has scripture, the author's interpretation and a section called Taking Inventory. This section is all about how to apply it to your situation.

First off, I'm a mom. But with each of these tips, I saw things that I know my daughter would love doing with her dad. Some of them he's already implemented. This is the type of book that a busy father would actually read. It isn't a large book, the tips are outlined simply, and logic is used. I can give this to my husband and be confident that it won't end up buried in dust on his nightstand. But the main thing that I liked, was that I was able to take away some thoughts for myself as well. Definitely a book that all fathers should be reading.

I received this book free of charge from Barbour in exchange for my honest review.

Although this book is aimed towards dads, this book is a good definitely a good read for any parent. It's chock full of wonderful things you can do to build your daughter's confidence, make her feel special, and to set an example for how men should act. I often found myself saying, "I wish my dad had done that with me!" I enjoyed the slightly self-depreciating humor of the book and the little stories that came with some of the tips. My husband and I don't have any children yet, but when we do, I definitely want him to read this book!

I really got this book to pass it along to my husband. After having three boys God graced us with a little girl five years ago. The little girl world was completely new to my husband. This book has lots of great tips for dads to connect with their daughters and how they can and need to be an example of what a man is to their daughter. After all one day your little girl will be looking for a mate and there is no better way then her to learn what to look for then by example.
