I know it's fiction but when the head of a security firm is accidentally meeting his future love interest (or f@ck buddy) at the gym, has a quick dispute and meets her again a while later in her office to tell her he'll be her personal security detail and says:
…and is shoving his fingers in her pussy as far as her dampened pantyhose would allow it….er...WTH? I say that's highly unprofessional. I would have preferred a more realistic approach. And, to be honest, the heroine's constant throbbing pussy kinda did me in.
On the other hand, the MCs couldn't hold my attention and the writing didn't appeal to me either. In consequence I felt it was best to quit at an early stage to avoid another huge disaster.

So, by mid-way I am thinking this is a sweet little read, the heroine battling her insecurities, the hero trying to convince her the attraction is real, and then the real Amber Bardan appeared. All pleasantries were discarded, and the fire kicked in.
"But then he knew this would happen, knew she’d be sugar underneath all her resistance. And that hidden sweetness had turned the dirtiest fucking of his life into the most intimate."
For Her Protection was a hot a little number with a storyline full of suspense, and a hero that wants to protect his woman while getting her hot, sweaty and satisfied at the same time. This author never disappoints.

3.25-3.5 RATING- Overall a quick easy read. Sex definitely was the focus with this story, not the suspense plot. Could have used a little more development but worked how it was written. The heroine did get on my nerves a bit with her insecurities. Loved how dominating the hero was. Sexy parts were very well done.
This is the first time I've read anything by this author but I'd read her again. I actually was going to download a sample of the second book in this series, For His Protection, until I saw the $7.50 price tag at Amazon. I'll pass at that price unfortunately.

Charlize is a hardworking CEO that is desperate to prove herself and hold onto her position. It seems though that Charlize is in danger and without her knowledge Connor has been hired to protect her and has been watching her for a month now. But when things get out of control Connor needs to make himself known and the pair soon find themselves balancing work and their attraction to one another.
For Her Protection is a fairly short read that is probably ninety percent erotic and ten percent plot. Charlize and Conner steam up the pages from beginning to end but that wasn't a bad thing at all. Charlize is a bit insecure in her personal life but strong willed and dominate in her business world so getting along with the alpha Connor took some work.
Amber Bardan does the steamier moments in a relationship rather well as this is the third book I've read by her. I may have enjoyed a bit more expansion to the plot in this one but there was enough there to get the story and why the couple were thrown together. I also liked that one minute you could be giggling along with some of the funnier moments then into some intense moments then onto the erotic side of the read.

I absolutely enjoyed this book!!
I like how Charlize was this independent woman looking to beat the odds of her father and uncle. While she may have seemed over eager at points throughout the story, her overall personality was the perfect combination of a strong and independent woman that needs and craves the strength and confidence of a man to support her.
The connection between Connor and Charlize was boiling hot. I loved how they both were blown away by one another before they even had a conversation, and then it just built from there.
The Worst Thing:
It would have been nice to learn a little more about Charlize's past with her father and mother, to elaborate a little more on her issues with her father before he had his stroke.
A little more development for some of the supporting characters would have been nice as well. Especially opening up the bag of worms–her cousin sleeping and marrying her ex-fiance–with her past relationships.
Overall: I really enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and the book in general. A definite read for the summer if you're looking for a spicy read.

4 Stars - 3.5 Flames
I was a HUGE fan of this author's "Bad For You" series, that when this book came across my email, I just had to have it. I'm so happy I grabbed this one because man oh man, this was one steamy book. Pretty sure my husband will be thanking this author...but I digress.
It looks like this is being re-released as a self pub this time around. I'm not sure if it's been re-written or just re-released, but there's one thing I can guarantee you. There are so many hot and steamy scenes in this that I had to put the book down, just to catch my breath. Connor is one smooth mother-f-er and knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it. Damn that Charlie and her lucky ways.
Charlie is the current president of a company going through what all company heads hate to go through: downsizing and cuts. But it's not bad enough that she has to make the hard decisions, someone is sending her threatening emails and actually trying to hurt her. In order for Charlie to "get the job done", her Uncle felt it was necessary to hire a personal bodyguard to make sure she was safe. But looks can be deceiving and it appears that Uncle Frank has an ulterior motive behind his kindness.
Connor has been hired to protect Charlie. He's been following and spying on her for a month (before she sees him) but is finding it hard to separate his job from what "he" wants. The more he spies and protects, the more he wants her for himself. But convincing her that he's really there for her and not because she's his hire is turning out to be harder than he thought.
Lust, sabotage, betrayal and really really steamy scenes (did I already mention that?), will pull you into this relatively short read. One might think that it was pulled together in the end a little too quickly, but I feel that it felt right to move along the way it did. Did I see that this was a first installment? Interesting. I wonder who we get to meet in the next one?

Amber Bardan has created amazing characters you immediately connect with and want to root for. I loved Charlize; she is strong, not afraid to get in your face to right a wrong take no prisoners, ballsy kind of woman but she had her vulnerable areas. Conner was strong, alpha male with a sweet protective side. This book is very well written, and is so fast paced I found myself staying up late, ignoring housework just to see what would happen next. The dialog is some of the best I have seen with some lines making me laugh out loud – they flowed naturally the way people would speak. Bardan creates level of mystery-suspense aspect that at times was so realistic, intense and scary even reading it (hello parking lot scene!) that keeps you on the edge of your seat to find out who, what, why are all these things happening. The chemistry between Charlize and Conner is phenomenal and blow the roof of smoking hot – wow and wow and oh wow. Unlike a lot of books that toss in sex in random places the placement of the sexy scenes in “For her Protection” seemed to bring Charlize and Conner closer or reveal personal stuff about the other. I can’t wait to see what she does with the other books.

I thought this had potential but I really longed for more relationship development. I felt these two really didn't know each other, had very few conversations of the "getting to know you" variety, spent only a few days together. This falls in the insta-love category, for those who are fans of that trope.

Quick smutty read. Insta love/lust abounds and there wasn't enough MMC development for me to get fully invested. But it had some serious steam and some heart tugging moments. Plus I'm trash for a bodyguard trope. For fans of Tessa Bailey.

But now, Amber's writing: it's a drug I just have to have. I devoured this book, and cursed myself for staying up far too late.
I cannot wait to read more in this series. Charlie and Conner had me gripping the edge of my seat. My heart was on fire! I needed more, turning pages faster than I have in a while. Conner is drop dead gorgeous, and I could feel his smoldering hot glare on Charlie as if he were looking at me.
Charlie is a fierce woman. She refused to back down. Stubborn against the threats, protective of her heart, she is a character that is after my own heart. I adored her for standing up for herself and revealing bits and pieces of herself as the story went on. She was burned once in love, but still greeted love with open arms when Conner entered her life.
Conner. *SWOON*! He had my heart from that first kiss in the bar. A strong man, with skills to protect. Nothing would go wrong in his presence. Can I have him in my life? #bookboyfriendgoals. Haha, but for real. Conner is one of those guys that loves his job, but also loves life.
In For Her Protection, Amber does not fail to unravel a heart-thumping story, filled with smoking hot scenes. This is a perfect instance of where my own hype did not let me down. Keep 'em coming!

And the characters? Charlize is a strong female lead, strong but believably flawed, which makes her easy to identify with and a woman you’d want as your best friend. For Her Protection is exciting, sexy, and full of mystery. I read the entire book in one day and I wanted more. Amber A Bardan wrote a captivating story and added the perfect amount of steaminess to it. I was completely surprised by the twists in the book.
The characters are amazing. Charlize is strong and independent. She doesn't need help and she is bent on proving she can rule in what she perceives as a man's world. Connor is sexy and protective. He knows exactly how strong and stubborn Charlize is. I absolutely loved reading about them trying to overcome their differences. It made for a rocky and more realistic romance.
I think that any readers who enjoy a good mystery with some sexy romance will enjoy this book. It is definitely for the 18+ crowd. It is an awesome read and I can't wait to check out other books by Amber A Bardan.

Received an ARC for my fair review. It was a short story, and it wasn't bad, but I found that it really just was all about sex. Connor was hired to be her bodyguard, but he was obsessed with her, since the moment he saw her, and he knew that it was unprofessional and that he should not have taken the job, but he could not have walked away. Charlie, was insecure, because her last relationship, her fiance, cheated on her with her cousin, and of course, blamed her, stating that she no longer took care of herself (what a jerk). Charlie really took that to heart, I felt bad for her, and I really disliked her so called friend Melissa or Melinda (whatever , her PR person) I did not find her to be very friendly to Charlie, she was critical, and she also put her down, when they were at the bar, and then she was hitting on Connor. So you could see why she self conscious, however Conner was crazy about her, and loved all her curves. There was some backstabbing going on in her job, sabotaging, threats to her life, but eventually the culprits were caught. I did not like how it ended, but I am assuming they stayed in a relationship.

When Connor stepped in to protect Charlize from the twins at the gym, he had no idea the affect this one action was going to have on his life. Charlize was mad, she thought Connor seemed too good to be true and he went and proved her right when he went all Neanderthal on her.
‘Too bad he’s turned out to be a complete goddam caveman. Had he actually slung her over his shoulder and hauled her ass into his cave? What was that they said about men who looked too good to be true? Yeah well, this one had a flaw she wouldn’t ever overlook. No man treated her as if she were some prehistoric prize.’
Charlize was a proud, independent woman trying to make it in a man’s world. She is currently trying to keep her father’s business going while not having to cut jobs. In the process she finds herself in danger due to the picketers and employees who don’t want her in her position. For this reason Connor is further enmeshed in her life.
Connor is a former detective, and now runs his own security firm. His most recent assignment is to help increase the security for Charlize and her company. He makes it his personal mission to be Charlize’s bodyguard 24/7. This is where lines get a little blurred.
The connection between Charlize and Connor is immediately seen with their first interaction. He is all Alpha male and plans to protect Charlize no matter what. The problem with that is Charlize can be a stubborn, independent, difficult women and she has to put up a fight the entire way.
This book has mystery, intrigue, sexy alpha male, HOT sex, relationships, and love. I enjoyed reading this book, the characters are great. You really get a feel for them by the way the author is able to paint a very clear picture of them, whether it is the dirtball slime or the alpha male security guard. This book has a twist in it that I didn’t see it coming until it happened, it was a surprise and it made the entire story even better if you can imagine that. I could have really liked this book, rather than merely enjoyed it. With a handsome owner of a security firm, Connor is the kind of hero that I love. Protective, dominant, but secure enough to not smother the woman he loves. Hot, take your breath away foreplay, enough steam and angry sex to fog up the gym mirrors, and a story about murder and corporate intrigue should make for a hard to put down book. My only problem was it needed a different heroine!
At 24, Charlize has just been named the CEO of her father’s company. Because everyone knows how to run a company at 24. She is trying to be authoritative and commanding respect, but in actuality, I found her to have a chip on her shoulder that no one was following her orders, rather than being thankful she was simply handed a position people work their entire life to earn. She comes into the company, demanding things ,throwing tantrums, and acting like no one I have seen in an actual business setting, and I couldn’t have found her less likeable if I tried.
As a couple, I could not understand the attraction Connor felt. Charlize changed her mood regarding their relationship at will, kept slapping his face as her way of trying to maintain the upper hand, which I found highly annoying, and was basically a shrew to this man that wanted nothing more than to protect her. I understand that the author was trying to show how Charlize was a woman that could take care of herself, but it really went overboard into bitch-territory.
Heroine aside, I did enjoy the story, and by the end I did have a better understanding of Charlize and her need to feel as if she could stand on her own two feet, but by then I was so firmly on Team Connor that it didn’t change my view of the book as a whole. I would certainly give Ms. Bardan’s future books another try as she can write a sexy hero and iinterestingale. I just need there to be a woman that I don’t want to throttle or root for the hero to dump.

This novel is everything I could have asked for in an erotic romance that also had suspense. I was turning pages on my Kindle so fast that my husband was wondering if I was even reading the pages. Yep, I was and I was that engrossed in what Amber A Bardan had to write. Charlize is a character that you will fall for immediately with her feisty spirit. She has to fix situations that are a down right horrid disaster and along the way she proves herself as a very great CEO. She is a very strong woman but like all others she has her downfall moments and things that make her weak. She struggles and has to work her way to becoming the secure and confident woman that we end up falling love with along the way. She is a character that you will be able to relate with if you have ever tried to become a stronger individual through hardships.
When Charlize is attacked, Connor Crowe is brought to her rescue to protect her. He is definitely one of those males that is irresistible. He takes the meaning of alpha male and gives it a whole new meaning. He is one of the types that is handsome and yet is very warm-hearted and caring. He is the perfect man and he is immediately attracted to Charlize from the start of protecting her from attacks. He wants to be with her and he tries so hard throughout the story to get her to open up to him. She wants a man that will be there for her and to support her in all of her endeavors. She does not want someone that controls her, which is what she feels like Connor is there to do. Chemistry is something that you want to go on between these two but it takes a little while to heat up. It does though and you get everything that you need from their romantic encounters. I loved reading about the two of them together and of course the sex scenes were off the charts (pregnancy hormones and all raging ya know!). Their relationship is genuine. This book had everything that I wanted and I can not wait for more.

I got sucked in by all the positive reviews for this book on Amazon and sadly it turned out to be a disappointment for me.
I needed more from Connor and Charlize than just lust and sex. Their relationship needed more depth. Connor and Charlize's relationship also progressed quickly and for that it felt rushed. It could have used more build up and development.
I also couldn't emotionally connect with the characters especially the heroine. There's a difference between headstrong and bitchy and Charlize was the latter. To put it simply, she was just an unlikeable heroine. Also, seems like nothing was addressed about how she was coping after she got sexually assaulted. The story went on as if the incident never happened.
I didn't care for the characters and I was even less interested in their story. There was a lot of skimming on my part and seems like the story never improved. Overall, For Her Protection was a miss for me.

I loved this erotica. It had mystery, romance and intrigue. I wish it had been longer. The characters are strong and well-rounded. You could tell the writing just flowed nicely. The passion was really good and had you wanting much more. It was a little too short, but it was really good. Amber Bardan does a very good job with her characters. Charlize is the CEO of her families buisness and she is trying to salvage it at all cost. There is a mole in her company and things are getting dangerous. She has no time for a relationship at this moment eventhough she has just met one hell of a Gym instructor. Well moving on, she is in danger and a bodyguard is hired to protect her. When she comes face to face with her new body guard who will be her constant shadow she is stunned to learn he is the same gym instructor who made her gasp Connor never gets involved with clients, but this hot and sexy one he might just make an exception. Things will never be the same for these two, not only does sizzling forces swirl around these two, but also danger.

OMG! Hot hero alpha male and strong female lead. Yes this is the book for one. It's nice to find a strong female lead, no that won't take no shit from no one, not even the man who she may be falling for.
There was a bit of everything is this book; romance, heat, hot sex, mystery and suspense. I loved it all and it kept me hooked that I read it in one sitting.
Conner and Charlize were one hot couple. While some parts of their relationship moved a bit fast for my liking, it was easily over looked by the what was happening in the rest of the story. They felt real enough that maybe their relationship was moving at the right speed for them and no parts had being skipped over just to make the story shorter.
The whole mystery of who-done-it had me guessing til and very end. I totally didn't see who it was til it was revealed. Bonus, I don't really care when the story gives it away too early. What's the point of reading the rest when you know what's going to happen.
If you want some hot to read with a bit of mystery and suspense, then I would be recommended this for you.
There was a bit of everything is this book; romance, heat, hot sex, mystery and suspense. I loved it all and it kept me hooked that I read it in one sitting.
Conner and Charlize were one hot couple. While some parts of their relationship moved a bit fast for my liking, it was easily over looked by the what was happening in the rest of the story. They felt real enough that maybe their relationship was moving at the right speed for them and no parts had being skipped over just to make the story shorter.
The whole mystery of who-done-it had me guessing til and very end. I totally didn't see who it was til it was revealed. Bonus, I don't really care when the story gives it away too early. What's the point of reading the rest when you know what's going to happen.
If you want some hot to read with a bit of mystery and suspense, then I would be recommended this for you.

Charlie is a woman who is working on moving her way up to the top. Celebrating with her friend she gets the shaft from a wingman who was only interested in her friend. Asking the stranger to kiss her was stupid but now hes pulling her inside his car and she doesn’t know why. The beautiful man Connor has been watching her for longer than she knows .. but why.
Connor has been told to protect Charlie. Never did he realize keeping his hands to himself was going to be this hard. This is a short and quick read and really its pretty much all smexy time. I do like that for sure in books but this was overkill. I found myself skimming over these parts and trying to find a story line.
Im not saying I wouldn’t read the next from this author but I really needed more story and less “love.”

Wanted to start out by saying....mmmm, loved me some Connor...he was deliciously alpha male. The two had chemistry to spare....smoking hot. Charlie is president of her dads company and Connor is the security guard hired by her uncle to protector. These 2 meet before she realizes who he is, and I love how they meet. She walks up & offers him money to kiss her...so funny.
Charlie is getting death threats, so Connor is there to protect her and try to figure out what exactly is going on. Through the book their chemistry goes from simmering to flat out boiling over...these 2...hot as hell. Charlie's sweet, tough as nails too, but also extremely insecure...a little bit too much self doubt from her. Connor more than made up for her insecurities, he was deliciously all man...love me some Connor.
First book by this author and I look forward to reading more books by her.

Once I started this book I could not put it down I was loving it.
Both lead characters are strong and well written.
The story line is an emotional roller coaster that gripped my attention and wasn't letting go.
I connected with the characters and the dialogue was fantastic. You could tell these two had an amazing connection.
Charlize was a strong and determined woman and I love that in a lead female. Connor is the sexy alpha male who is not the most open character but he is out to look after her at all costs.
Overall I really loved this book and it will not be my last I can not wait to see what else Ms Bardan writes.

This is a really hot read. I loved it.
This story is based around the main characters Conner and Charlize. Connects a strong alpha male that's employed to protect Charlize. He's also a really good guy. Charlize is a strong fiesty character which I loved. The chemistry between these two was off the scale hot.
