Jessica Wood writes contemporary romance.
While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.
She loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and extremely independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom.
She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.
And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.
This book takes place exactly where A Night To Forget ends, and I was eagerly awaiting to find out how these two were going to make it after that cliffhanger ending. The Day To Remember answered all the questions I had and so much more.
This story is about heartbreak, jealousy, deception, secrets, lies and most of all LOVE.
I felt so badly for Brandon and Emma as they each struggled with the circumstances that kept popping up to tear them away from each other. I really felt the attraction and love they had for each other, but it also brought tears to my eyes when they weren't together.
Brandon is my favorite character in this story. He never gave up hope on being with Emma, and would always wait until the right time to talk to explain things to her. He was SO romantic and there were quite a few sigh worthy scenes.
Emma was a good character too, but she constantly ran when things got tough, always leaving Brandon to chase her down. However, I never doubted her love for Brandon, because it always came through know matter what.
The love scenes were VERY SENSUAL, and I'm happy to say that they were not part of Emma's dreams, but they were everything Emma ever dreamed of.
The ending and epilogue was FANTASTIC making this a REALLY good read. I actually had tears of joy reading it!
Overall, I REALLY liked this series. I think Jessica Wood did a wonderful job weaving this story. I liked the writing style, the characters, the drama, the smex, heck I just plain old loved the whole story. I look forward to reading more of Jessica's books in the near future.
In order to fully undertand this book you MUST read A Night To Remember before reading The Day To Remember.

Even in this moment where things were uncertain between us. I felt connected to her, almost like an invisible string that permanently connected our souls to one another. I was happier and more carefree when she was near. She felt like home. – Brandon
Casting:
The Day to Remember is book two in the Emma’s Story series with Brandon & Emma. In a Night to Forget; Emma meets a mysterious man on the beach in Cancun but he is gone when she wakes up the next morning, never even getting his name. Months later Emma starts her new career since graduating college and her new boss is the man from Cancun, Brandon. The book ends with a major cliff hanger when Emma opens Brandon’s front door and a woman is there telling Emma she is his girlfriend... oh Jessica and your nasty cliff hanger!
Now in The Day to Remember starts up right where A Night to Forget left off. Emma is heartbroken and ran away from Brandon, back to her apartment after discovering Brandon has a girlfriend and the man she is in love with, who she lost her virginity to, is a cheater. Brandon comes running after Emma but she ignores his phone calls and even calls into work sick to avoid Brandon.
Emma discovers the truth about his “girlfriend” Desiree and her past with Brandon. Even when the truth is revealed Emma seems to always not trust Brandon and I don’t blame her. I would always question him too; especially when an ex girlfriend is obviously still in love with your boyfriend.
Brandon discovers a mistake he made is coming back around that causes Emma to call things off with him. I found The Day to Remember was a lot more emotional when A Night to Forget. Emma gives us a closer look at her past and it plays apart in her decision to break up with Brandon. I was so upset when she broke up with Brandon over something that happened BEFORE her but I do not know if I am strong enough to handle the news either, especially for someone like Emma and her past.
I loved her, more that I loved myself, and I knew I had to let go. She would have a happier, uncomplicated life without me in it. She deserved to be happy – free from pain. - Brandon
Brandon & Emma spend the majority of the book heartbroken & apart from each other for one reason or another, mostly over miscommunication or because of Desiree (uh, what an evil woman). The book is told is the point of view of Brandon, Emma, and even a few chapters from Desiree. I was really surprised at first that we were able to read in Des’s POV but after knowing what I know now, I was glad I was able to read what she was thinking, because she obviously has major issues!
I know coming here wasn’t a good idea, but tonight, I didn’t care. I spent my entire life playing it safe, waiting for the one to give my all to, and where did that get me? Nowhere. All I got in return was a lot of heartache.” - Emma
I do wish The Day to Remember was a bit longer; I really enjoy Brandon & Emma but felt parts of the story moved too fast and not enough details or dialogue between the characters were given. I just wanted a little more to the story to go along with the great characters. I just wanted a bit more drama when they broke up, especially since they work together and still have to see one another. I also really liked the character of Damian who we meet in The Day to Remember; he is a fun, laid back guy that helped Emma out during her time apart from Brandon. I wish he was in the story a bit more but his character was great & was perfect in the book.
Brandon is a total dream boat! I loved knowing what he was feeling towards Emma, especially as he was falling in love with her; it was really sweet. The ending was perfect, no cliff hanger and if this is the end for Emma & Brandon I would totally be happy because it was the perfect ending for them. Jessica Wood is an amazing writer who just clicks with the readers when they read her work.
“I’m no longer falling for you, Emma. I’m in love with you. You are the woman of my dreams.” - Brandon
Both books in the Emma Story Series are a fun read and I would recommended them to anyone who would like to read a book about fate, office romance, and a sweet love story.
I give The Day to Remember (Emma’s Story #2) 4 Stars.
ARC provided by the author in return for an honest review.
This is the dramatic filled conclusion to Emma and Brandon's story. It begins shortly after the the cliffhanger from A Night To Forget. Just as Emma and Brandon were moving forward, the doorbell rang and ruined it all. That was just the first of many shocks that Emma had coming to her in this book. And Brandon had a few surprises to deal with as well.
My relationship with Brandon was like a rainbow--though it was beautiful and magical, it was uncertain and elusive; there was nothing tangible about it. And as magically as it appeared, it could quickly disappear without warning.
There were many twists and turns in this one that surprised me. It was full of miscommunication, lies, secrets, betrayals, drama, and pain. But in the midst of the heartbreaking times, there were sweet times too.
Even in this moment where things were uncertain between us, I felt connected to her, almost like an invisible string that permanently connected our souls to one another. I was happier and more carefree when she was near. She felt like home.
I really liked both Brandon and Emma. Brandon was sweet, loving, and funny and literally the man of her dreams. He really could be swoon worthy. Emma was smart, sassy, and caring. They were really good together when outside factors were not in their way. But their communication skills left a lot to be desired. And they both had past issues that affected their present and their future.
I was powerless to change her past, just as I was powerless to change my present...
I got so frustrated and mad a few times that I wanted to smack each of them for some of their choices or lock them in a room alone together and force them to communicate effectively. I was even disappointed and mad at Brandon! And then I was angry at Emma! And so the roller coaster went! But they really seemed to have a soulful connection. And you could see it more this book since we got Brandon's point of view instead of just Emma's.
Will love be enough when faced with so much uncertainty and so many issues?
Desiree, a woman from Brandon's past, was a large part of this story and we got a little of her point of view as well. Let's just say I am not a big fan of her and that is putting it nicely. Damian is another new character and he is sexy, flirty, and intriguing. I liked him, but he just kind of got put in the middle of an already confusing mess.
This was a fairly short, but angsty and drama filled story. There were many twists and surprises that kept you engaged. It was more emotional than the first book. And it seriously angered me so much a couple of times, I almost wanted to walk away from it. It could have used maybe more detail and been a little longer, but it was a fitting conclusion to Emma and Brandon's story. If you enjoyed the first book, you will probably like this one.
Thanks to Jessica Wood for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim
**If you haven’t read the first book please don’t read this review because there are spoilers
So The Day To Remember takes place after A Night To Forget, which ended with a devastating cliffhanger. Seriously, I wanted to throw my ipad across the room when a woman showed up at Brandon’s door claiming to be his girlfriend and that was it!!!! Don’t get me wrong the first book was amazing but my heart can’t take stuff like that without being able to jump into the next book. So when Jessica asked if I wanted to review The Day To Remember I was ecstatic to say the least.
This book starts off a couple days after she runs out of his apartment in tears and heartbroken. But don’t worry we do get a recap of what happened starting with the unwelcome knock on Brandon’s door. At this point I am beyond angry at Brandon’s betrayal and instantly hate this new woman, who eventually we learn is named Desiree. I even hate her name (not really just don’t like her and everything about her, so no offense to any Desirees). So we already knew from the first book that both Brandon and Emma have their secrets and are not ready to divulge any information at this point in their relationship, but this little roadblock forces Brandon to open up just a little bit.
You see things are not exactly as they appear. I’m trying hard to review this amazing book without giving it all away so bear with me here ladies. Desiree wasn’t exactly truthful when she barged in his condo claiming to be his girlfriend, but she does have a past with Brandon that is coming back to bite him in the ass. Desiree has no intentions of letting Brandon go and let’s just say she has a little advantage, maybe…
Brandon doesn’t want Desiree, he doesn’t love her like he loves Emma. To Brandon, Desiree is his past and he will always have feelings for her but Emma is his future and the love of his life. So he goes after her and doesn’t give up until he is able to explain. Of course they will have a roller coaster of a ride ahead of them but the important part is they love each other enough to ride it together. But just when things seem to be going well for them, Desiree drops a bomb that may destroy the fragile bond they have managed to build…
Desiree isn’t the only problem that will tear them apart. Emma has a past and a secret she has kept closely guarded that could destroy any chance they have at a future once Desiree lets her own secret out in the open. Brandon also lies to her thinking its best to tell her Desiree’s secret later. Not a good mixture here…
I loved this book! It literally kept me on my toes the entire time. I couldn’t put it down once I started and finished it in under 3 hours. If you put off reading the first book and waited for this book to come out make sure you read them in order. I rated this book at 4.5 Stars! It’s full of secrets, surprised, angst, betrayal, jealousy and some amazing chemistry between Brandon and Emma!
I really was disappointed by this. It had the potential to be something great. I know that sounds harsh. I know it can't be easy writing a book. The sequel of course begins where we left off and once again Emma disappoints me as she runs with her tail between her legs. That is my major gripe she was so willing to believe what a stranger says and not even confront the man she loves, not buying it. There were several moments in this book I felt like I was watching an episode of Threes Company. It was always chalked full of misunderstandings and the characters would never elaborate so they just kept the misunderstanding going on for the duration of the show. This book was like that and worse because it was predictable. I knew the moment Brandon said," I'm not going to tell her everything yet," there was trouble ahead.
The main issue I had was that neither one had any faith in each other. We're suppose to believe Emma had this cosmic connection to Brandon and yet one little bump in the road and it's over. I realize some of the bumps were kind of big but to just not even try, again Emma had no backbone to not fight for the man she loves.
The thing that saved this book was the wedding vows given at the end. They were very touching and I thought," where was all this heart she poured out into the vows in the rest of the book?"
The sex scenes as well in both books were almost repeats word for word in different locations but very predictable. It was not worth the price at all. Save your money!!!!!
Well I know it is no secret what a fan of Jessica's I am! Her writing speaks to my soul! She has only been an official author for a few months now and has taken this community by storm! Her books give us a little of everything without getting boring or overly raunchy.
*** If you have not read book 1 then this review may contain SPOILERS***
Well after the heart stopping cliffhanger from book 1 we pick up a little while after with Emma not handling the news too well! Thankfully Brandon being the shining prince that he is, doesn't give up! He tracks her down and they talk it out. At that point I thought it would be all cupcakes and rainbows...
I seriously did not see the MAJOR BOMBSHELL coming!!! Even as you are reading this, there is NO way to predict what happens! The suspense is killing you now right?
Both Emma and Brandon have secrets in their past that will come back and bite EVERYTHING in the ass!!! I literally had to put my IPAD down in fear that I would not get my happy ending.
BUT...
I am glad I kept reading because the drama was FAR from over!!! FYI I like writting in caps for effect!! LOL!!
This is a dramatic must read where the ending works out how it SHOULD. That does not mean it will end how you want it. Or does it? Looks like you will have to find out! It really was a perfect sequel to A Night To Forget, and those who have read it, Jessica does not disappoint!
Rating: 5 Stars *** I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review***
Emma and Brandon share a beautiful love affair. This story is both poignant and sensitive. I could not help my feelings about Desiree. Let's face it, she is scheming and manipulative. Brandon and Emma must fight for their love and remain true to each other. Loved the conclusion to their story.
If you haven't read the first book in this series you will find spoilers in this review.
I was given an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
I happen to be one of the lucky people that read the first book in this two book series shortly before I received this book. The first book ended with a vicious cliffhanger and I'm glad I didn't have to wait long to continue the romantic story of Emma and Brandon.
The last book ended after Emma met a woman claiming to be Brandon's girlfriend. Seeing as how Brandon is the love of Emma's life this was a devastating blow. This book picks up a little less than three days after the alleged girlfriend, Desiree, showed up at Brandon's door. Needless to say Emma is in a state if shock and heartache. He's been trying desperately to get in touch with Emma, but she can't bring herself to talk to him. Luckily Brandon doesn't give up easily and finally gets to tell his side of the story. Desiree isn't exactly who she claims to be, but she is from Brandon's past. Both Brandon and Emma have secrets from their past that they're not ready to share and things seem to get back on track with them. Unfortunately Desiree brings new things to light for Brandon and he ends up keeping more secrets from Emma. Meanwhile Emma still has her own past and secret that she is yet to share with Brandon. All of the lies and secrets between them could possibly destroy the relationship they've both worked so hard for.
I was pretty sure I was going to love this book after reading A Night to Forget and I was not disappointed. Emma and Brandon's story is full of ups and downs, and though a bit dramatic (what's a love story without a little drama), it rings true to life. Brandon and Emma are both well developed throughout the two books and extremely human and realistic. I fell instantly in love with these two characters and I found myself tearing through the pages to find out what would happen next and ultimately if they would have their happily ever after in the end. I don't want to give anything away, but this book ended perfectly for me. It was everything I was hoping for.
The writing itself manages to be both smooth and lyrical at times. The book is well paced and nicely organized. It's written from both Emma's and Brandon's points of view and this added depth to the story. I always love reading male points of view from both female and male writers. I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica Wood's take on the male perspective.
If you love beautiful, well written love stories with intense ups and downs this book is for you. It's full of drama, yet still realistic and believable. The epic love story of Emma and Brandon will suck you in from the very beginning and not let you go until the very end. I'm actually sad this book was such a quick read for me. It was one of those books that you rush through because you have to find out what will happen next, but then once you're done you curse yourself for not savoring it. I look forward to reading whatever Jessica Wood writes next!
i received ARC in exchange for my honest review and i would like to start with another home run. this book start where you left off in a night to forget. you have poor emma trying to understand how her relationship could have just changed in one night, then how could the man of her dreams literally let her down so bad. she is determine to not let this break her. at the same time brandon is so confused not sure what just happen, first he has the woman he is madly in love with the next she is running out of his life. you read the story and you can definitely relate to the way emma handles the relationship, she does what any woman would do call your girlfriends and plan the next move. but she does realize that it is going to be harder then she thinks. in the process of trying to forget she meets Damian at the bar. will love be able to keep them together or will des have her way and split them up for good. with every page you will have love, hope, lies and deception that could have been avoided. you will turn every page wanting to know whats next, does she go does she stay. can they work through it all or will Damian be the final release. this book will not disappoint. i had the pleasure of seeing this story grow and i really enjoyed every aspect of there story. thanks jessica for putting the story to paper and allowing me to read your work.
The Day To Remember By Jessica Wood, August 27, 2013 By carrie
This review is from: The Day to Remember (Emma's Story) (Kindle Edition) I was given an ARC for exchange for an honest review.
I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to take this second and final journey with Emma and Brandon.
WOW, This book blew me away. It was written beautifully and fast paced, there was never a dull moment.
If you haven't read A Night To Forget I highly recommend reading that first. The Day To Remember picks up from the end of A Night To Forget.
In this book we learn more about Brandon and his past, where we meet few new characters that cause quite a bit of drama. When Emma's secret is out due to a mistake that Brandon made their whole world gets turned upside down. I was so emotional reading this my heart actually felt full, but in a good way. There was romance, drama, and a bunch of HOT scenes. I can't go into a whole lot without giving spoilers but let me tell you this was the perfect fairy tale ending that every woman dreams of. I am sad to to see the end of Emma and Brandon!!!
I was given an arc for a honest review. At first Emma is upset at Brandon and with every right. What girl would accept waking up to find another girl at his door and supposedly is his "girlfriend." Then Brandon amazes me and gets her back. The chemistry is so amazing. Especially in new relationships where everything seems blissful. However, this is love at first site or first times for Emma. Since she has dreamed of Brandon before ever meeting him I could totally imagine that she could also love him instantly. Then comes the Ex-Girlfriend horror and she unfolds some drama that I never expected. Wow is an understatement mainly because of how it all turned out and what she did is unimaginable. All of the drama ends and what happens next is so sweet. I am pretty sure we may see some more of Brandon and Emma's story or maybe they will show up in Des's story with Damien. Jessica Wood may be a new author but she is certainly an excellent one and I cannot wait to see what new books she comes up with.
Let me start by first saying that in order to get into The Day to Remember you have to first read A Night to Forget. Night to Forget ends with a huge cliff hanger that made me so upset that I couldn't wait to read more and Day to Remember starts off right where the last book left off.
I loved this book! Jessica Wood gave us so many twists and turns, heartbreaks and new characters. I was given an ARC for this book but bought the first part and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone over 18. There are some hot and steamy scenes so if you are not into that it's not for you but give it a try. It's good!
The characters in this story just call out to you. I couldn't put the book down. I read it in about a day and a half. The story just flowed and made you want to read more. My favorite character is Emma. She has been through so much and she is still strong. She has great friends and a wonderful mom who is always there for her.
If you haven't bought this book yet you need to run to any online book seller and one click immediately! Worth every penny!!!!
Just finished reading "The Day To Remember by Jessica Wood". This is the second installments of Emma's Series. The end of the first book is totally a cliff hanger and a lot of unanswered questions and doubts are starts to rise.
When the second book released I'm so excited to know what happens next to Brandon and Emma's story. And it never failed me. In their story explains how TRUST is important in every relationship.
There are moments that Emma's behavior starting to getting on my nerves. How she shut Brandon's in her life so easily. For like "what's your real problem Emma?". As their story begins to unfolds their story is getting more exciting.
As I reach the end of their story I cried like a baby, I loved their vows and I loved how the story ends.
To everyone who believes that in dreams and in love, there are no IMPOSSIBILITIES!
Although initially I thought the conclusion to Emma & Brandon's story seemed short when I purchased, it wasn't rushed leaving few details. In fact, the writing was seamless and smooth throughout. Emma & Brandon's journey took on many twists and turns with new people who entering into the picture. Secrets were shared, trust and faith were broken and then placed back together. You can feel the love between them, but you understand the pain Emma goes through when she learns of a painful truth from Brandon. Can their connection & love get them to where they want to be? Is love enough or do they have to let go and move on? Sometimes a HEA is not in the cards, but you will have to read this conclusion to find out if they received theirs! I highly recommend both books and look forward to reading more from Ms Wood.
I was given an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. This ARC has in no way altered my review. I fell in love with Brandon and Emma in A Night to Forget and was throw for a loop when it ended in a cliffhanger. Well, I'm happy to say this book holds all the answers! If you read the first book, you knew a storm was brewing and boy did it blow in hard and strong. I can honestly say I felt both Brandon's and Emma's pain. This was a quick, easy, read with some surprises. I laughed, hoped, prayed, was frustrated with a certain someone A LOT, but loved it anyway. There is potential for a few more books about secondary characters, but Jessica did a great job in tying up all the loose ends from the first book. I'm looking forward to Jessica's next book.
Brandon has a girlfriend! Or so Emma believes since Des just shows up at B's apartment after a glorious night of losing her virginity. So then she just goes home and gets angry and whines and never gives him the chance to explain what's going on.
This is chick is so naive.
And then we have d-bag Brandon who lies to E often and somehow convinces her that he does love her and that Des is just a friend... and then Des comes out with the whole I'm pregnant thing, but this was so poorly written that anyone with half a brain could see that this chick was faking it... and the multiple POVs were not helping.
So much drama packed into 300 pages. Which is ridiculous, there should have been more, it was all deep secrets and intrigue but shallowly executed. Incredibly selfish of the author, like she had the back story and plot but couldn't be bothered to delve deeper into the lives of the characters.
I loved this book! Emma and Brandon first meet in Cancun and after one night together, Emma does not see or hear from Brandon until six months later when Emma starts her first job for a marketing firm where Brandon is her boss! They start dating until one morning Brandon's "girlfriend shows up at his door sending Emma flying! After the misunderstanding is cleared up and they are back together again, Desiree who is Brandon's ex-girlfriend drops "a bomb " that sends Emma flying again! Can Brandon and Emma have a happy ever after? You will have to read the book! You will feel like you are on an emotional rolletcoaster but so worth the ride!
This book is the sequel to A Night to Forget where we were introduced to Brandon and Emma.
We follow them on their journey to see if they will get their HEA. This book is fast paced but does not leave out any details. You will meet different characters that will bring you drama, love, and heartache. There will be lies that are told and secrets will be exposed. Is love strong enough to overcome devastation?
Ms. Jessica Wood wrote a beautiful heartfelt book. The emotions you feel when reading this book are undeniable. My heart is full and I've been blessed to be a part of this journey!
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review and this is no way altered my review. First I must say that if you haven't read, A Night to Forget, I recommend that you read that first. The Day to Remember starts off where, A Night to Forget ends. In this book we learn more about Brandon and Emma's past. There are two new characters introduced, which bring lots of drama to this book. This book was beautifully written, it made me laugh and cry. It was sexy and full of surprises. I loved following the story and Emma and Brandon and can't wait to continue reading the series. Jessica you did a great job, I wish you continued success!!!
I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect ending to the 2 book series. Every question was answered unlike the huge cliffhanger we were left with in A Night to Forget. I was sad to read the last few pages, I really didn't want the story to end. I felt a huge connection with Emma. And I hated Des. Really hated Des, wanted to throw my kindle I hate her that much! She is a horrible horrible person and was the perfect "villian" for this book. It made Brandon's and Emma's love that much stronger.
P.S. read the ending with a box of tissues and cue A Thousand Years by Christina Perri to listen to as you read the end.
The Day to Remember will take you on a roller coaster ride! There are a few twists and things that will surprise you! I love Brandon and Emma!! I read The Day to Remember in a little over 5 hours because I just couldn't put it down. If you read A Night to Forget you need to read The Day to Remember to see how it all ends!
I'm so glad that I took a chance on a new author, Jessica's first two books are amazing and I'm looking forward to many more!!
A great conclusion for Brandon and Emma!! Hes literally her dream man!! What started in her dreams, continued in Emmas day to day life. Secrets from both their pasts continue to plague them as they try to learn to build a life together and trust! And it dosent help when Brandon's ex shows up unannounced and ready to stir trouble!! Jessica delivered a great story, and i was very happy with ending!!! Will recommend to friends and look for more from this author!
I really enjoyed book 2. But it was a fast read. I was not happy when it ended so I had to read it again... Lol I love the characters even though sometimes I just want to smack both Brandon n Emma's beside the head because they just kept going in circles. But I decided to forgive them Because of the ending.. :) Jessica you did an awesome job in ended the 2 part series. Thumbs up!! :)
this was a brilliant book to end a little. series. I thought after book one that was it due to evil des bit I smiled and loved what happened in book 2 and was really.happy with ending.
Some of the characters made me angry. They were like some I've actually worked with. Lying and cheating hurt too many folks but I know it does happen. I just choose not to. E around them.
The Day to Remember (A Night to Forget Series, #2) ( Emma's Story)and
Priceless love story with twists and turns in this story. A young woman in search of her own personal experience that you have to read. Drama and dreams go hand hand I this story! Enjoy
