Ugh! Don't judge a book by its cover! When I am at the library I often have to grab and go just to keep up with my daughter. this book looked promising, but it is obvious why these 3 stories were not developed into stand alone novels. The first had the most potential but all three were very clichéd and not believable. I also was expecting historical fiction but that was my bad since I did not read the back cover well. I do like 'inspirational' fiction but this was too sappy for me!
When this book was given to me, it was described as "fluff" ... I think that might have been a little kind. The stories all seemed too contrived and unrealistic. The characters fall in love and come to know the Lord way to fast and easily.
Only the first story was somewhat realistic, the other two were "gaggy-sappy". Not meaning to spoil but in the last novella the couple talks for 10 minutes and he proposes to her. I mean, really? I was rolling my eyes throughout this book
This is three different stories about career woman who do not want to get married. The first one is about Shelly Morris who is a widow and having problems with her son.She meets Bart Steele when her son goes to his karate school and he talks her into doing something to reconnect with her son.The second one is about Stormi McNeil who runs into a old boyfriend who treated her at hotel where she works. The third is a wedding planner who runs into a rancher who wants to marry her. They are both widows and she had a bd experience with her first husband.
This book was not good at all. The first story wasn’t too bad, I rather liked it, but the other two were dreadful. These couples didn’t know each other at all. I give the marriage in the second story six months at the most. And as if the stories weren’t bad enough, one of the weddings ended with a balloon release, a terrible practice, which is bad for our environment and needlessly kills innocent animals that mistake the balloons for food.
While this book was an easy read, and I read all three short stories from start to finish, I found myself shaking my head a lot. And not in a good way. All three stories were about a guy chasing a girl and then getting her. But when you do the math the love hits after, like, a day. Seriously! I probably would have given the book a three-star rating if the second story wasn't there. "Downhill" was WAY too ridiculous for me. While it was nice and a bit funny in a "wouldn't-that-be-nice-if-life-worked-like-that" kind of way I've worked at a ski hill and let me tell you. This story ain't telling you the truth of what that's like. But there was way too much unbelievable about the story, and the characters, to worry too much about the setting. Also for such a short story there sure were a lot of plot holes. But story one ("A Winning Match") and story three ("The Wedding Planner") were slightly more believable.
If you want a quick read and this book is just sitting around, go for it. But if you're wondering if you should buy it... I would shake my head.
A lovely set of short stories - each about 100 pages long. 3 lovely romantic stories that all start out on a very wrong foot - but true love wins out in the end. All set in Colorado making it even better. Simple, 'feel good' romances.
