We met Brian in Navy SEAL Surrender, as the twin brother of the hero. He had taken the blame for a fire that killed a woman so that his brother, who he thought was guilty, could follow his plans to join the navy. Though he was never charged with anything, the people of the town blamed him and treated him badly. Twelve years later he discovers that neither he nor his brother were responsible and wants to find out who is and clear his name. In the process he finds out that the woman killed is part of a family whose members have been dying in accidents. There is one person in the family left and Brian attempts to warn her of the danger. Lindsey doesn't believe him, until her car is run off the road. Then she goes to him and asks for his help.

I really liked Brian in this story. I completely understood his desire to clear his name, especially after having been treated the way he was for so long. I don't understand why his brother and father didn't fully support him in his efforts, it made me lose some of the liking I had for them from the previous book. As a paramedic, Brian is in the business of saving lives, so his attempts to warn Lindsey make complete sense. He is reluctant to become her protector at first, as he doesn't feel that he is qualified to do it. But there's something about her that won't let him leave her alone. Even though Brian has avoided relationships because of the way his life is, Lindsey really gets under his skin. He tries fighting the attraction, but it's no use.

Lindsey is a strong character. Once she accepts that Brian is right about the danger she's in, she doesn't hide in fear. She's ready to find out who it is and stop him. It doesn't take her long to realize that she can trust Brian to protect her and help her find out who is behind it. I really liked her determination and loved how her persistence gave them a good lead to follow. Lindsey was also just as attracted to Brian. She, however, didn't fight it too hard.

Their attempts to find the stalker before he could get to them was really intense. There were times when the book was told from his point of view and we could see just how dangerous he was. Just as in the previous books, Brian gets no help from law enforcement - just the opposite. This seems to play right into the stalker's hands, especially at the end. The final confrontation was one that had me glued to the pages as I waited to see how Brian was going to save the day.

The only thing that was missing for me was a little satisfaction after it was all over. I would like to have seen some sort of public acknowledgment from the town about how wrong they had been all those years. And perhaps a few months down the road to see if they saved the ranch and how everyone is doing after all the troubles are finally gone.

From reading the reviews I found out this book is part of a series after I read the book. I thought it was a great stand alone.
A fire was set many years ago, and someone had died in the fire. Brian took the blame so his twin brother John could join the Navy Seals. Brian is set to prove his innocents, and find out who set the fire. In his research, he discovers a serial killer has been killing off Lindsay Cooks family. Lindsay has no family left, so Brian assumes she will be the killers next target. He gets her to agree to meet him. He explains what he has uncovered. Lindsay thinks he is a stalker.

When someone ran Lindsay off the road, Lindsay knew she needed Brian's help. This is when the book heated up. The serial killer treated killing as a game. He hunted his victims. He kept a journal of everything he did, and how he killed each person. I thought it was sick.

I loved the way Brian, and John traded places. The two twins not only looked identical, but they acted the same. It was easy for the two to switch places by simple changing the clothes they wore.
If you enjoy a book with action, suspense, and a good plot with a dash of romance then you may enjoy this book as much as I did.

This book was just okay. I had a hard time getting into it. I found the characters to be uninteresting and the ending seemed to just drag on.

rancher turns detective

Fast read. Rancher follows woman who he thinks may die and becomes her body guard. Murder could have been fleshed out more.

Once again Angi Morgan does and exceptional job of creating a complex but believable plot that had me holding my breath. Her characters are outstanding and relate-able, and their relationship sings.

In the Renegade Rancher, the second in the two book Texas Family Reckonings, Brian has spent months trying to figure out murdered a beloved teacher and framed him 12 years ago. He had spent too much of his life believing that his brother's negligence caused the death so he step up and took the blame and faced vilification from the town and harassment from the local police. Now that he is getting closer to a solution he realizes that a relative of the dead teacher is in danger from the same man. While they work together to find the monster who has been getting away with murder for 20 years, Brian's reputation and the idea that a killer could go unnoticed for 20 years makes dealing with the police impossible. With limited help from his brother, Brian must find a way to protect Leslie and help her locate the killer, before he locates them, again!

Brian Sloane that Lindsey Cook I really enjoyed this book. I loved the plotline, though it was really sad. I couldn't wait for Brien to get his happy ever after. He had been through so much. And in this book went through even more. Lindsey was a strong female character, she just didn't sit back and take any crap from anyone, or sit back and be afraid. Even her first meeting with brian she came prepared for a fight, if there was one. When Brian was investigating the fire that changed his whole life he found another pattern that was linked. It led him to Lindsey, who's family has all died in unfortunate accidents. That may not be accidents at all. I couldn't put this book down. I hope we see for characters from this series in the future.

This book was an edge of your seat thriller...We pick up with Brian's story in this book. he is trying to find out who really burned the barn down when he and John were younger, that he took the blame for..He is also trying to figure out who is killing all the Cook family. He starts helping Lindsey. She is the last in her family line. we get glimpses of the serial killer in the book but you do not know who he is til later..he thinks his is invincible...He was very creepy!!! Great read....I highly Recommend!!
